Trouble Coming

"Beep! Beep!" the alarm clock rung.

"What time is it? 8 am! I need to get ready quickly I have an important basketball match today."

"Get ready Robert it's time to go to school" my mom called while preparing breakfast for me.

I hurried to the dining table, had breakfast and immediately left for school. Today's match could confirm my place in the high school basketball team. Let me tell you more about myself. I am Robert, a student of Stockholm High School and today we have a match against the neighbouring city school. Our team has participated in many sports tournaments like these and it won't be wrong to say that our teams in different sports are doing extremely good. So here I am at my school, just in time as the gates were about to be closed. I directly headed to the basketball court.

"You are late Robert" the coach shouted.

"Sorry"

There was still an hour left before we leave for the neighbouring city for the match and we were supposed to practise during this time. After an hour the coach called out to all the players, "C'mon students, enough practise, get on the bus we need to leave now". Our coach discussed all the strategies and plans with the players the whole journey. We reached our destination on time. The basketball court was full of students, of our rival school, cheering for their team.

The referee blew the whistle marking the start of the game. The game started with our possession and the first point of the game was on our side. But the next minute only they scored and took the lead. I have to admit that these players were truly hard to play against. No one could tell who got the match on their side, the score was equalled every minute. Half-time was about to be declared and we wanted to get the lead. I took a perfect three-pointer which was about to be a score for us but lo! A red-coloured vine rose out of nowhere and damaged the basket. Many more vines of this kind grew from the ground and destroyed everything that came in their way. But the most disturbing thing was that it interrupted my three-pointer!

Anyway, now I was trying to figure out what is happening around me. Meanwhile, I found myself struggling with those creepy vines. They even secreted some fluid which almost burned the surface in contact with it. And I would have been a victim of that fluid if Jack didn't cut the vine. Jack is my classmate, also my best friend and the fastest runner in our basketball team. But not everyone had the luck I had. I noticed that the vines were not only grabbing the students and making them struggle for their breath but also piercing them through their bodies and killing them. We, along with other students who survived that real-life nightmare, came out of the basketball court, expecting to find some help. But here the situations were even worse. The whole school was in chaos, lighting and building were destroyed, there were dead bodies with those creepy vines all around and not a single living person was to be seen, maybe they had already gotten out of here. We came out of the school, onto the streets of the city and found the city ruined. There were not only those vines becoming trouble for us but a whole race of monsters and evils and demons. I really could not understand even for a second what was going on, what was happening from the moment my shot was interrupted. This all was being stored in my mind as an impossible puzzle to solve. I was scared, and could not think of what to do. I looked around and found no one beside me, everyone disappeared. I went to a corner and gave myself some time. And then I decided to go to my home first, to my family and see if they are alright. I knew how to drive a car so I took one, stole one to be more precise which was okay in this situation, and I drove to my home. The journey took an hour and I saw a completely different world on my own Earth! My eyes couldn't believe what was happening. People were running here and there, monsters attacking them. Even I was attacked and half of my car got damaged. The way I was driving, my license would have been suspended but I had to drive that way to save myself, moreover who was there to check my driving. After an hour I reached my home but I could find nobody there. I turned on the radio to listen to if something important was being declared. I found that our city and the neighbouring ones were evacuated. But before they could give any further information, the signal got lost. I tried to fix the problem but nothing helped. I went outside to look if I could find anyone. I went through every road, peeping inside every house but all I could see were some insect-like organisms.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a beautiful plant got to life and tried to attack me and swallow me like an animal. But Adam came at just the right time, he cut the roots of the plant with his sword when its teeth were just inches away from me. Adam is my schoolmate and my senior and we are a part of a crazy gang which includes many fun lovers from our school, so we know each other very well.

"You saved my life, Adam. And this, from where did you get this sword?"

"Stole it from the museum dude, after all, who is gonna come to see this now" Adam replied and giggled.

"Yeah, correct" I laughed too.

"But it's great to see you" I expressed my joy, "I have been looking for people almost everywhere in our neighbourhood but I could find no one, I lost hope but then I found you! Are there more people alive here? And wait, what happened to your hand?"

Adam replied in a low-spirited tone, "I have not seen even a bird after that earthquake. When we felt the tremors, all students rushed to the playground. But the earthquake was intense, the building began to collapse. Students and staff emptied the ground and ran away anywhere to save themselves. But I could not make it. I was trapped under a heavy piece of the building and I fainted there only for about half an hour. This broken hand is a result of this only." he sighed, "When I regained my consciousness, I left that area and started looking for people but I could find no one. I decided to go to the police station for help but all I found were dead bodies, remains of the building and vine-like something. I turned on the television there to see what is on the news and I found out that the city is being evacuated and soon the whole country will be evacuated too because there are chances that this mistake will prove life-threatening for the whole of humanity.

"What mistake?"

"Even I don't know, they did not tell the mistake. But at least now I know what is going on here. I decided to go to my home once. But as soon as stepped out, a vine, a very gross one, grabbed me from behind and tried to pull me inside the ground. Luckily, there was a gun beside me. I shot the vine 4-5 times after that it left me. I looked for some weapons to take with me for safety but there were no more guns and bullets. So I sneaked into the museum for weapons and there I got this masterpiece" Adam held the sword in the air like a king, "And that's all happened with me till now. Hey, are you even listening to me?"

"Yes, yes, I was just thinking about what mistake they were talking about. If the news channel spoke about it, then it must be something serious".

"I guess. So what are we gonna do now?"

"First we can go and check your home", I suggested and we walked towards Adam's house. When we reached there we could hear some music and people talking. When we looked inside the house, we found that they were not people but some different kind of organism somewhat similar to us. It was better not to go inside and land up in some trouble right now. We both went to our house, which was free from any trouble, for the time being, to get some rest. Now we both don't know where to go and were already tired so much, we slept for some hours.
