From gofer to a semi bodyguard

I was so shocked to see Gou standing there! How long has he been there? Did he saw everything? What should I do?!

"Go- I mean, Gushiken sama, what are you doing here this late in the night?" I played the dumb card and pretended I didn't do any of the stuff earlier.

"I should be the one asking you that! You were acting sketchy so I followed you then saw you went straight to this garden. And then the moon... And now the grass… Tell me whats going on?!" He said. He was obviously flustered.

"So you saw everything? Well, it all your fault that you don't let me gather spiritual essence so I can only do it in secret!" I said.

Now I'm doing the blame game since the play dumb card didn't work. I need to wiggle my way out of getting punished. I maintained my face that has defiance written all over to bluff my way out of this situation.

"I'm not talking about that! I'm asking about the Divine essence from the moon that you absorbed inside you! How did you do that! Then the grass… Spirits with elemental powers are nonexistent! only Elementals can control them not some ordinary wandering spirit like you! How did you control it?" He asked non stop like how he did before he made me his gofer.

"I don't know? The moon acted crazy and shoved all those sparkly dust inside me I swear! And for the grass I just imagined them growing- what?" I asked suddenly. He has this constipated look on his face, but still so so handsome!

"To be sure that you won't go creating mischief I will take you in. I will have you start training first thing in the morning and I will personally teach you, in that way you will be able to learn self-restraint and patience. And then you will stay in the room adjacent to mine so that I can keep watch on you. I'm warning you, what you're doing is very dangerous and for some a threat to them." He said seriously.

"Wait a minute! Don't I have a say on this? I'm not doing anything bad! I just wanted to have cool powers like you guys! You with your purple scythe and that whip thingy that Chisa uses!" I whined to him.

"Chisa?" He looked confused.

"Old man Chisa? Your servant Chikafusa. His name is too long so I just called him Chisa. But if there are times that he is annoying I add the words old man to really irritate him." I smile sheepishly.

"I see. And what about me?" He asked. I think I might be hallucinating but his face may look like he doesn't care but his eyes say otherwise?

"Ah, Gou?" I answered absentmindedly.

"Hmm. That is my name, but don't you call me anything else?" He asked. It's like he is probing me making sure that I didn't give him a mean or strange nickname.

"Gushiken sama?" I answered carefully.

"Nothing else?" He asked again as if confirming that I wasn't calling him anything weird.

"Yes! I won't call you anything weird! You are the master of this place so I wouldn't dare to be disrespectful!" I assured him.

The only thing that I call him rudely is calling his first name without any honorifics like he is beneath me. Of course, I won't admit it to his face, I already made a mistake of calling his name, the good thing is he didn't make a big deal out of it.

"Hmm… Well, anyway. Tonight you will stay in the room near mine and please restrain yourself from harnessing any spiritual powers from the moon or sun. Until we figure out what is happening don't do anything that will make others suspicious of you, alright?" He reminded me again.

"Yes, I understand," I said quietly.

"Good now follow me." He said then he jumped and flew into the sky.

I gawked at him. Being stuck here doing menial work and stuff made me forget that I am a spirit and not a human anymore. I just remember that I can float and stuff! Well, since I had gathered enough spiritual essence maybe I can jump far and high.

I readied myself and jumped! But to my dismay, I only jumped maybe 5 inches from the ground! That is so embarrassing! Due to embarrassment, I just made up my mind to just float as fast as I could. And within 2 minutes I'm already standing by the door of Gou's room.

I saw him standing there and signaled me to follow him. We walked towards the door to the end of the corner. He let me opened it and I entered. Since there is no light I fumbled my way in trying to see if I can grab a hold of a candle or a lamp to light up the room.

I was startled when there was a flash of blue orb directed at the middle of the room lighting it up. I saw that it was Gou's fireball and it helps me find a candle to lit. After lighting up the candle I looked around the room. It's a fairly sized tatami matted room, there is a small table near the sliding door with a tea set neatly placed.

"You looked inside the closet to see where they store the futons and pillows in. You don't have to clean now since its already late you can do it tomorrow before we start training. I expect you to be ready by 6 AM, understood?" He instructed.

"Yes, sir!" I automatically answered.

"Okay." He looked at me like I'm weird and left the room.

"What the fuck are you doing?! I said to keep your back straight and concentrate before you let go of the arrow! Are you listening?! Do you even understand the words that I'm saying?!" Gou shouted.

The hellish training started 2 weeks ago and now I'm about to explode! He is the devil's incarnate! He's a teacher from Hell! He kept harping at me when I made mistakes and I really wish I could just strangle him to shut him up!

I may be slow in learning Kendo but I'm somewhat confident in martial arts since I took lessons in Karatedo and in Muay Thai even though I only lasted 3 months in Karatedo and 1 month in Muay Thai, but still, I have the grasp of how it works. But in Archery, it's hard to pull the bow since they are using the traditional longbow. We don't have Archery Schools near my home and it's not a sport where you can just come in and learn it from the get-go either.

"I'm doing the fucking best here you know? Why won't you just shut your trap and let me do it on my own?! You are fucking annoying!" I could help but shout back.

"As if you are? What I'm fucking reminding you are the fucking BASICS! You can't remember shit and you have the balls to say to let you do your own thing?! Are you missing a brain in your head?!" He shouted back.

"Hmph! Just you watch! My arrow will reach the target this time!" I boasted.

"Ha! As if you can?! You have been failing with Archery since day 1 How can you be so confident that it will reach the target this time around?!" He taunted.

I gritted my teeth. "You just watch there!" I said and throw him a glare.

I inhaled and exhaled first while closing my eyes. After my 2nd exhale I opened my eyes, I pulled the string stared at the target, inhaled again and hold my breath then released the arrow. With a loud 'twang' the arrow flew towards my target and with a 'thuck' my arrow hit something.

I look smugly at him when I saw my arrow sticking out from the target. I even cocked my eyebrow at him saying 'See I hit the target' and even flash my winner smile at him.

"You're happy with that? It just hit the outer edge of the target didn't even reach the actual target." He retorted. I just stuck out my tongue at him since he just can't admit that I hit something.

"Ow ow ow! Let go it hurts!" I shouted when he pinched my left cheek! I even slapped his hand so that he can let go!

"Ahahaha! That's what you get for being cheeky with your Teacher!" He said.

"Okay, I'm sorry! Geez! You didn't have to take it on my innocent cheek! It's sore now!" I complained while rubbing my left cheek.

"Nah! You'll get over it! Now let's go. You need to change and we will leave in 5 minutes don't be late!" He ordered.

"Where are we going? And why should I come to where ever it is you are going to? Don't wanna!" I grumbled.

During this time that I started my training, our relationship changed. It's not like a romantic relationship but we are like friends now? I can talk like this and he will not get angry, he will even rebut in a good manner as well. We just kept it lowkey when there are others around but if it's just the two of us we will loosen up and started bickering at each other.

"Well, it's time to put your skills to the test! I was invited to visit one of the nobles in the city so I need you and Chisa to accompany me. I know Chisa can keep the enemies away but to be sure you will keep a close eye on the surroundings as well. Alright! I entrust my safety in your hands!" He patted my shoulder and smiled at me.

What the fuck is this? I was a gofer before and now I have been promoted to be a pseudo bodyguard? I don't remember signing any contract for this!
