(Location Toga Residence, Meguro District Tokyo Japan)
Even with a feeling of change in the air, the Toga Residence was quiet, but this was only the calm before the storm. Currently, we see the 'parents' of Himiko, sleeping soundly.
This however does not last long as suddenly the sound of broken glass and a high-pitched scream comes from the young child's room waking up the two. They rush to Himiko's room to see the cause of the noise this late at night. When they opened the door, they didn't expect to see that it looked like the room had been broken into through the window.
Not only that, but the room looked like a mess and Himiko was nowhere to be found. The only hint they could see of her whereabouts was the drops of blood on the windowsill, which could have been from Himiko or her kidnapper.
The father did the first thing he could think of and grabbed his phone to call the police.
Both of them remember Himiko telling them that she felt like someone was watching her at night, they also remember the missing food, knives, and first-aid kit. But they thought it was just Himiko throwing some elaborate fit for planning to make her go to Therapy to make her 'normal'.
They thought that since they were any average household with not that many valuables they wouldn't have to worry about robberies or anything like that. But they didn't expect something like this to happen, even if a tiny part of their minds told them to be worried, they still brushed it off until now.
What they didn't know while they were worrying about the situation, was that Himiko wasn't truly kidnapped, in fact before they even got to the door she had already started running away from the house.
By the time the cops get there, even with her tiny legs, she would have already gotten far enough away to have cleared her second quest making it significantly harder for them to locate her, especially with the new quirk she managed to get.
(First Person POV)
After what felt like hours of running, I think I finally got far enough away from that damn house. Even if my lungs feel ready to collapse and my legs feel like jelly, it all be worth it. Not only would I not have to live with terrible 'parents' again, but I'd also get stronger by getting away from them, a win-win.
I walked into a secluded alley to catch my breath and see if I completed the quest. I hope that whatever I get it'll make this time being homeless easier. As I was about to open the system, a panel that I had been waiting to see for two weeks popped into view.
[Completed Sub-Quest
False Kidnapping
Objective: Successfully make yourself disappear in your fake kidnapping
Reward: 1 Gacha Ticket, 1 Rank-Up Card, and making everyone believe you were kidnapped]
It took everything in me not to giggle like the tiny psychopath that I was when I saw that I had completed the quest.
Himiko: 'Hehehe, oh I wish I could've seen the looks on their faces. But for now, I should focus on spending this gacha ticket and figure out what to use this Rank-Up Card on'
I opened up the gacha wheel panel and prayed to whatever god was watching me for its possible amusement, to give me something good. Finally, she chose the 1x gacha ticket option and saw the wheel once again turn all its tiny options into a blur.
[Congratulations host you have won:
Lightning Body (C Rank)
Let the path you carve be full of chaos]
I was a little disappointed at my new quirks rank, but seeing that it was capable of still growing brought my mood back up. Quickly, I checked what my new quirk could do, since unlike Inventory and Blood Manipulation this one may be a little different than what the name implies.
[Lightning Body (C Rank): The user can transform their body into pure electricity making them faster and strike just as hard as lightning itself.
NOTICE due to its current rank the user is only capable of turning a single part of their body into electricity, and is unable to shoot it out electricity.]
Seeing that notice I couldn't help, but feel a bit of contempt, though it was more at the second part of it due to the first part being understandable. But I still felt like I needed an explanation on why.
Himiko: 'Maybe its inability to shoot electricity has to do with it still being a part of my body. But if since it's also saying it's because of the rank, maybe I'll be able to later on-'
Before I could go further on my train of thought, another notice showed up in front of me.
[NOTICE due to Lightning Body being incompatible with the user's genes the system will modify the user to utilize the quirk]
Himiko: Wha- gah!
Before I could question what the notice meant an excruciating pain went through my entire body, even with my pain tolerance it felt so painful. It felt like I was being burned, and torn apart from the inside, and I had to bite my lip until it started to bleed to not scream from the pain.
My legs gave out from the pain and I fell to my knees using my hands to keep myself balanced. This feeling of pain was worse than anything I felt in my past life, it was even worse than when I lived in that hell hole.
After what felt like hours, but was most likely just a couple of minutes, the pain finally started to subside. When more time passed the pain left, but the memory of it stuck with me.
I finally stopped biting my lip when I noticed the small pool of blood forming under me. When I did another panel showed up in front of me and this time it wasn't followed with pain, but instead a cool and relaxing feeling.
[NOTICE we apologize for the pain, it was needed to make your body more compatible with previously incompatible quirks later on. The system will now help the user's body be at ease from the pain caused, the user will also not have to worry, this was a one-time situation.]
So, all that pain was to make me able to use quirks that wouldn't have been usable by my body before. Fuck no wonder it was that painful the system made my body more adaptable to the quirks it can give me.
At least it was only a one-time thing or else I would be very reluctant to get new quirks in the future.
I rose back to my feet after the system had finished helping my body. Once I was back on my feet I decided to try using my new quirk that I had to go through that pain to use.
My right arm turned into suddenly seemed covered in red electricity that vaguely still looked like my right arm, but I could feel that it wasn't just covered in electricity it had become electricity.
It felt so natural to use this quirk and have a part of me become electricity like I was born to use it. Most likely this is due to the system modifying my body to use this quirk.
I decided to test it out a bit and used my right hand to punch the air in front of me. When I did my hand moved so fast that I barely saw it, and suddenly it was in front of me punching the air. Good thing I didn't put any force into that or I would've been pulled forward by the speed and strength of my electric hand.
When I thought about how it could have easily pulled me forward I got an idea of how I could use this to get to the neighboring district faster, even with only being able to use it on one part of me.
Himiko: 'If my punches could have that much force, let's see about my kicks!'
With a wide smile, I turned my right leg into electricity and quickly stomped the ground under me with a bit of strength while leaning a bit forward. The next thing I knew I was soaring up into the sky, and it felt amazing.
Luckily I leaned forward because now I was falling back down to the roof of the building that was in front of me before. When I was about to land I kicked the ground again with my right leg and made myself move to the next rooftop.
With this I could get around a lot easier and faster, the only thing I'll have to worry about is someone seeing me, so I should only do this sparingly. Well until enough time has passed for me to make my appearance known.
Now it's time to finally have a fresh start in this world, and see if anything has changed from the anime.
