"Friend-seeking advertisements and reader letters section."
Peter picked up *The Bugle Daily* and turned to this section of the newspaper.
"Little Spider, our last meeting left me fascinated to the point where I couldn't sleep at night. How about you? Life is like flowing water, and we should not waste it. I'll be waiting for you on the rooftop where we last met—Little Kitty."
Reading the message above, Peter fell into contemplation.
Little Kitty?!
After the last time he parted ways with the Black Cat, she mentioned that if she wanted to meet him, she would leave a message in *The Bugle Daily*.
Could this be the message from the Black Cat to him?
Was she this straightforward and bold?
Taking out his phone, Peter wanted to dial the number left for him by the other party.
Would Gwen call to interrogate him if she found out?
He pondered deeply.
Would he flatly deny it when confronted, or would he try to bluff his way through?
He wasn't a fool, and Gwen wouldn't fail to notice his feelings towards her.
Once Gwen knew that this was a code from the Black Cat and was so explicit, she would probably explode.
*Click!*
Closing his phone, his expression became serious.
Night fell.
The gloomy weather enveloped the city in fog.
The entire city seemed to be in a daze.
*Splash!*
A pair of bat wings spread open, flying into the night sky.
Peter's figure soared across the sky, flying through the night.
*Thud!*
His feet landed on the rooftop of the jewelry company, and he looked towards the edge of the rooftop.
On the raised edge, there was a white tablecloth laid out, with red wine and cheese placed on top.
The cheese emitted a fragrance that permeated the surrounding air, weakening the fog.
The red wine exuded a blood-red color, captivating.
Next to the tablecloth, with legs dangling over the edge, was the Black Cat, her back facing Peter, revealing her well-proportioned figure.
"This scene isn't something you see every day."
Upon hearing Peter's voice, the Black Cat turned her head. "Hey, Parker, you finally came."
The center of the Black Cat's eye mask was no longer hollow but replaced with yellow goggles, giving her a more mysterious demeanor.
Peter looked at the wine and food on the tablecloth and asked her, "Why prepare these things?"
"I told you last time, I regretted not having red wine and cheese, so I prepared them specially this time."
She said as she opened the wine and poured a glass into a goblet, gently lifting it to her lips. "I don't know your taste, but I hope you'll like it."
"Did you see my advertisement?" She asked Peter while sipping the wine.
Peter nodded, walking over to the Black Cat. "Hmm, you're quite bold."
"It's not boldness, but genuine emotions."
The Black Cat smiled, handing the wine glass to Peter, then lazily turned over like a cat, flipping her long legs from outside the rooftop to inside.
Holding the wine glass, Peter didn't drink it but instead asked her, "Do you have any new information?"
"Why are you in such a hurry? Can I ask you a question?"
The Black Cat leaned in close to Peter, asking him.
"What?"
"Do you really like that Spider-Woman?"
"..."
"Is your face under the mask disfigured?"
"No."
The Black Cat leaned in, sniffed him, then took off her eye mask, revealing her stunning face.
"I know your name is Parker. If I wanted to, I could dig deep and find out your true identity, just like I know Spider-Woman is Gwen, but I didn't."
The Black Cat raised her wine glass, tapping it against the one in Peter's hand, saying, "I'd prefer you to tell me your real name in person, to unveil the mask in front of me."
Taking a sip from her wine glass, the Black Cat smiled, "Okay, let's get down to business."
She handed a newspaper to Peter, saying, "There's a piece of information in this newspaper, a job posting, a movie crew recruiting extras for a horror movie, you know, either showing skin or screaming while being chased."
Peter looked at the recruitment news in the newspaper, pondering.
The Black Cat continued, "Although the crew claims the shooting location is in the downtown studio, Nancy's boyfriend said they changed it last minute to Bear Mountain in the state park."
"So... I think this movie crew named *Midnight Howl* is very suspicious. At least the monsters appearing there are definitely related to them."
Folding the newspaper, Peter thanked the Black Cat, "Thank you."
Although he increasingly suspected it was the work of dark creatures, he couldn't rule out the possibility that the gruesome deaths were caused by alien embryos bursting out of bodies.
"You're welcome."
The Black Cat put down her wine glass, asking Peter, "Won't you taste the cheese? I brought it up here with effort."
"Never mind, I'm not interested in cheese."
He really wasn't fond of such food.
The fermented taste was hard for his Chinese soul to accept, despite having lived in America for two lifetimes.
"That's a shame. You'll be missing out on a lot of deliciousness," the Black Cat expressed regretfully.
"Anyway, thank you for the information tonight," Peter said as he handed the wine glass to the Black Cat, preparing to leave.
But soon his brows furrowed.
At the end of his line of sight, piercing through the mist, he seemed to catch a glimpse of Gwen's figure.
It wasn't unusual for Gwen to come out at night to fight criminals.
But now it seemed like Gwen was in conflict with someone.
The Black Cat walked over to Peter's side, following his gaze.
Although her vision wasn't as keen as Peter's, she could vaguely make out someone fighting.
"Do you need my help?" the Black Cat asked him.
"No," Peter shook his head, taking out a card and handing it to her. "This is my phone number, maybe next time we won't need to go through all this trouble to contact each other."
The Black Cat took the card from Peter's hand in surprise, then reached out and lightly tapped Peter's face with a smile.
"If you hand it over to me, it means you might be plagued by cats for the rest of your life. Are you sure?"
"Not necessarily, I've never been very interested in cats."
Peter removed the Black Cat's hand from his face, then leaped off the building.
"Are these guys vampires too?"
"Bang!" Gwen kicked one of the assailants near her, then turned around and shot out webs.
The webs hit the attackers, sending them flying.
Gwen thought she could take them out for good this time, but to her surprise, they staggered back to their feet.
She was swinging her webs around the area when she noticed a robbery and intervened.
But after taking down the robber, a group of masked men suddenly rushed out and attacked her.
As she defended against their onslaught, she retreated, but the assailants behind her continued their assault.
These guys were swift and fierce, far beyond ordinary people.
And the aura emanating from them was similar to the vampire she encountered last night.
Could these be the vampire's accomplices seeking revenge?
As she tried to evade the attack from behind, a swooshing sound rang out.
A silver dart, shimmering with faint light, shot towards the masked assailant attacking Gwen from behind.
"Swish!"
The silver dart pierced through the assailant's back.
But the dart didn't kill the assailant, only severely injured him.
The slowed-down assailant was punched in the cheek by Gwen.
"Heyah!"
With a roar, Gwen fiercely knocked him away.
"Thud!"
A figure landed in the deserted alley, a vampire hunter clad in leather, pulling out a silver sword from his back.
With sunglasses on, he swung his sword, instantly knocking down the masked attackers near him.
Blood splattered, but he avoided it by leaning to the side.
The sword swung in a long arc at a speed that couldn't be caught by the eye, stabbing towards the person on his left.
The leather coat fluttered as the strong airflow shook the air with a "whoosh."
Knocking down the masked assailants at the fastest speed, the vampire hunter approached Gwen.
Gwen was stunned to see the handsome figure taking down the group of attackers.
Who was this superhero?!
Why had she never heard of him before?
"Boom!"
Amid Gwen's astonished gaze, the vampire hunter punched one of the assailants in the abdomen, then grabbed their neck from behind, restraining them, while inserting a vial of serum into their neck with his left hand.
The assailant, with the vial inserted into their neck, immediately backed away, clutching their throat in pain.
Seeing that neither the silver sword nor the coagulant had directly killed the vampires, the vampire hunter's expression turned serious.
If it were ordinary vampires, they would have burst and died instantly.
These vampires managed to withstand it!
These were the unknown forces of vampires that Harriet mentioned.
"Be careful, they're not ordinary vampires. Don't let them bite you," the serious-faced vampire hunter said to Gwen while taking out a shotgun from his belt behind the cloak, aiming it at the approaching vampires.
"Who are you?" Gwen asked, keeping an eye on the vampires while remaining cautious.
"Daywalker."
"Boom!"
As he said his name, the shotgun blasted bullets, knocking down one of the vampires rushing towards him.
At the same time, another vampire figure instantly moved next to the Daywalker.
This kind of movement wasn't like rapid movement, but more like blinking to his side in an instant.
Surprised, the Daywalker instinctively blocked the attacker's blow with his hand.
"Boom!" With a loud noise, he was heavily struck and sent flying.
