Do or die

Ellie was sitting on a chair beside Amir. Her eyes were red from all of the crying. He still hasn't opened his eyes. Even if the doctor had assured them that he's fine and he'll wake up soon, she still couldn't help but feel uneasy. Why was he not still waking up? He's supposed to be awake by now, so what's wrong?

She moved closer and placed her head on his chest. His heartbeat was pounding against her ears. That was the only reason that kept her in a sane state. The fact that his heart was still beating.

"Amir I'm sorry. Please wake up, I promise not to push you away anymore. Please just open your eyes once." She whispered, her head still on his chest.

"He's going to be fine, Ellie. The doctor had assured us all. He just need a bit more of rest." Titus said and Ellie lifted her head to look at him. Ellie couldn't believe that he wasn't angry at her despite being the cause of his condition. How was he still able to talk to her so casually? Ellie now realized where Amir got his kind side from. It was from his father.

"I'm sorry uncle, he's in this condition all because of me. He risked himself to save me even after I had pushed him away. Why did he have to do it?....now look at his condition, everything that happened to him was my fault. I wasn't able to control my anger and now just look at him..." She said as tears flowed down from her cheeks.

"Like I said. There's no need to be worried, he's going to be alright. He'll wake up very soon....why don't you go take a shower and eat breakfast." He said but Ellie shook her head.

"No I can't leave him here...how can I leave him when he's in this state?!" She said.

"Don't worry. I'll stay here with him..." He said but Ellie still shook her head in disapproval. He heaved a sigh, she was just too stubborn.

"Okay...you can come back when you've finished taking a bath and eating breakfast." He said and Ellie nodded hesitantly. She walked towards the door, when she was few inches away she turned back to look at him. 'I'm so sorry Amir. I'll be back. Just please open your eyes for me. Please.' She said in her mind before she turned to leave.

Ellie's mind was far off from earth. Amir was in this state all because of her! How could she do this to him? How would she be atone for her mistakes. No! Her mistakes can't be forgiven! He almost lost his life all because of her foolishness. She wouldn't mind if he doesn't forgive her, as long as he just opens his eyes.

"Ellie." Lucid called.

"Father!" She said and hugged him tightly.

"Y-y-you saw what happened to Amir right? He's in that state all because of me. I couldn't control my anger and...and...." She trailed off....."everything that happened was all because of me. I would never be able to forgive myself if anything happens to him." She sobbed on lucid's chest.

He patted her head and let her cry all her pains out.

"It's okay. Amir would be alright, the doctor had assured us. He'll be fine."

"But it doesn't change the fact that I caused all of this. How would I live with the guilt that I caused this." She said as tiny drops of tears fell from her cheeks.

"Don't worry he'll be fine. He did it out of his own will do don't worry he's not going to stay angry with you." He convinced her and thankfully she calmed down a bit.

"Now go freshen up." He added and she nodded. He watched her leave his sight and he proceeded to Amir's room.

Lucid was in Amir's room, staring at his unconscious state.

"Is he going to be fine?" He asked Titus.

Titus let out a sigh and turned to lucid. "The doctor had said that the plant is the only cure to completely remove the poison. It was a very deadly poison and I'm glad he somehow managed to survive it. If we don't find that plant soon, then I'm afraid...." He gave out his long explanation.

"That plant is almost impossible to find and it would take days, and we aren't even sure if we would find it."

"I'll send my men to find it immediately. We can't afford to waste more time, we need to find it as soon as possible."

"The doctor had emphasized that the plant was the only cure. All other herbs are just used to remove part of the poison, it won't completely heal him, it's just used as an alternative, and that's why I'm very sure th -"

"What plant is that huh? What are you people hiding from me." Ellie cut Titus off. She had already left but she forgot to take something and came back for it. She saw them talking intently and decided to leave them but she heard them talking about a plant, poison and Amir's health! Her whole world stayed still for a long while. What are they talking about? No! They must just be talking about something else right? She tried convincing herself, but how would she know all of these things when she's asking herself. She needs to ask them fast!! What the hell are they hiding from her?!! She would never in this life or the afterlife forgive herself if anything happens to Amir!

The room was silent and tense. No one said a word as Ellie was expecting an answer but no one even glanced towards her. It even seemed they were avoiding her gaze and it made her more and more suspicious. What are they hiding? Is Amir's condition worsening?

"Please say something! What's wrong with him?! What plant are you talking about?!! Tell me he'll be alright..." She said but when no one stayed still and didn't say a word, she fell on the floor. Her whole world seemed to have stopped moving. Her heart had stopped beating, she couldn't feel a thing anymore. She couldn't even hear anything. Her brain seemed to have shut down and was at the brink of losing her sanity but something in her steeled her resolve. If she loses herself, she'll never be able to help him!! She must find whatever plant it is their talking about before it's too late!! She just can't simply sit and cry all day!! She needed to do something to help him out! She was the one who put him in this situation, she would bring him out of it at all costs, no matter what it takes her! This was a 'do or die' situation that is why she'll help him. She'll help him as long as he's going to be alive. Yes! She's going to save him, after all, he sacrificed his life to save her, why couldn't she do the same?

"Tell me, what plant are you both talking about?" She asked in a calm voice but still, not even an alphabet came out from their lips. They're not still saying anything?!! Well, she doesn't have any other choice than to find out herself.

"Okay, fine....don't tell me. I'll just ask the doctor and I'll set out to look for it!" She said in a firm tone.

"Ellie wait, you don't und -." But before Titus could complete his sentence, she angrily left the room.

Ellie was in the large hallway looking torn and disheveled. Her eyes were red from all of the crying. What should she do? How does she know the plant when no one is willing to tell her anything? She doesn't want to be kept in the dark like this!! How could they not tell her something as important as this?!! She was still screaming in her head when she toppled on someone.

"Oh no! What's wrong my dear. You look awful!" Emilia spoke.

How would she not look awful when Amir's life is in grace danger?!! She really doesn't care how awful her appearance looks right now, as long as they can find a permanent solution to his condition.

"Mother! Amir's condition is not getting any better and uncle says he needs a certain plant to be able to remove all of the poison....no one's willing to tell me anything....I-I-I caused all of this and I should be the one to fix it right?" She sobbed effortlessly.

"It's okay my child. Your father and uncle will definitely find the plant soon, so please stop crying else you'll make me cry too. Okay. Let's go give you a cool and relaxing bath then you eat breakfast, after all of that you're free to do anything you want." Emilia said, trying to comfort her and thankfully, the girl nodded.

Emilia called some maids to help her with her bath and serve her breakfast. Ellie went back to her chamber thinking of 'what and what' she could do to help him.

She just hoped that they find the plant as soon as possible. Amir is running out of time and she can't afford to let a second waste without making a move. She heaved a sigh as her maids took her to the bathroom to give her a bath.
