Ocean of students flooded the cafeteria during lunch break. Shin had to squeeze his shoulder to avoid bumping into them.
"Excuse me, excuse me."
He reached for a Reuben sandwich and a bottle of soda. Something to fill his stomach at the time. He's starving and he hasn't had anything to eat all morning.
He made his way towards the cashier, squeezing back his way from the crowd and settled at the end of the long line.
Shin made an impatient sigh, standing in a line for a good ten seconds when he felt a playful bump on his hip. Someone had cut the line. And to his surprise, it was Janet, she carried a tray with dim sum and boba, chuckling flirtatiously while gazing up to his towering height.
A smile jumped on his face. "What're you doing here, short stack? Don't you have a class you need to be?"
"Nuh. I'm on lunch break, just like every one else." She made a pretentious gesture of looking around.
Shin smacked his forehead. "Duh." Before getting a whip of her dim sum's aroma. The smell was enough to make his stomach twist.
"That stuff smells good. What do you got there?"
"It's dim sum stuffed with pork filling." She answered.
Those happened to be Shin's favorite. "Oooh, that stuff is the bomb."
She grinned. "Yes, an explosion in your mouth."
She picked up the dim sum from her tray and guided it over to his mouth. "Here, try it."
Shin entertained opening his mouth, but decided against it. He's been meaning to tell her about a girl back home, the one he's in love with, but hasn't got the heart to break her heart just yet.
Hurting women's feelings is not his thing. He's too nice for that. He planned telling her soon, maybe when he catch her flirting with other guys, so it wouldn't feel like he's dumping her.
Note: leading someone on is also cruel, kids.
"Oh no. I wouldn't want to eat your food? You look like you could use a few more kilos added to your bones."
She mocked an offended face. "I'm hardly skinny."
"You're wearing a kid size shirt."
"That's because I'm petite."
There was an impatient groan from the guy behind them. Shin and Janet both looked back and found that he's glaring at them.
Shin apologized. "Sorry, man." And opened up some space for Janet to squeeze in front of him. They looked at each other and giggled.
