Chapter 78: Time Test 2!

As soon as Lancelot Jr stepped on the stage, it transformed to contain him entirely while others could only watch from outside the stage.

A man appeared in front of him, he had the exact features of James Night, from his appearance to his dark robe and dark cloak.

The only difference that was noticeable was his constantly smiling face.

James Night was a man of few words but he rarely smiles, the two floating transparent bodies knew this, so they also felt this should be a version of himself that he created for the test.

"Hello, Descendant, welcome to the time test" the smiling face of this James Night felt so uncanny to the two floating transparent bodies,

"This version James Night seems like a complete retard with that stupid grin on his face," Sir Zuco said as he had a disgusted look on his face.

Sir Jenny simply smiled, "So, do you think he will do well in the test?" Sir Jenny asked sir Zuco.

"l don't have much belief in the boy, I think his abilities are at best average, I think he will fail the test and be sent back to reality," Zuco said with a wry smile.

Sir Jenny frowned a little, "what do you have against the boy? Initially, I thought it was just your usual coldness, but now it seems you really don't like the boy. I will have to remind you that you started this fight, that is why he doesn't seem to want to talk to you. If you had been nicer to him, he would have also been able to speak to you nicely."

Sir Jenny enlightened Sir Zuco on his faults. Sir Zuco became cold and quiet and just watched the test unfold.

"The test is in 3 parts, the first would test your mind, the second would test your heart and the third would test your body. If you are found worthy in all 3, you would be granted the ability to truly master time." The smiling James Night spoke and waved his left hand in the air as he conjured a small piece of paper.

"For the first test, I want to wish you good luck," the smiling James Night disappeared leaving behind a determined Lancelot Jr.

Lancelot Jr suddenly saw himself appear beside a lake, there was a waterfall before the lake that kept flowing down at an insane speed and a piece of paper was in his hands.

After looking around for a while he noticed the piece of paper. Some words were written on it which he read.

"To pass the first test, obtain the shiny object hidden in the waterfall"

Lancelot Jr smiled a bit, "all I have to do is to obtain this shiny green object hidden within the waterfall and I would be able to pass the first test. That's too easy."

As he was pondering how to attempt the test with delight, the spirit speaker then spoke, "this test isn't as simple as you see it, there may be danger lurking in the waterfall that may be more dangerous than you might imagine." Lancelot Jr frowned a little and felt she might be right, nothing was that easy to get, especially if it had great merit to it.

Outside the test stage, the two floating bodies were silent, Sir Zuco was a bit angry at Sir

Jenny for reprimanding him in the manner that he did, so he decided not to talk to him, but as the test on the mind started, he couldn't help his curiosity, he knew that being the guardian of memory that he was, Sir Jenny would definitely have answers to his curiosity.

So he had to clench his teeth and swallow his pride and ask, "Jenny, what is the test about?"

Sir Jenny noticed the discomfort in his asking and could tell how much it took for him to talk. He smiled a little but didn't tease him.

"That green object is a stone, he obtaining the stone means he passes the test. The stone is the stone of time, that lake is the lake of time."

"It is stagnant and doesn't flow out but accumulates under the waterfall, if someone were to pass through it, they would witness the lives of different people simultaneously through time, the strain on the mind would-be enormous, but if he could persevere to get that stone, he would pass the first test...." Sir Jenny explained it perfectly without leaving out a single detail and then he stopped and smiled.

"Oh," Sir Zuco said in realization, "this rude brat won't even pass the first test, I don't need to bother about the others", Sir Zuco muttered to himself and gave a wry smile.

Lancelot Jr placed his feet inside the lake to start advancing towards the waterfall, the lake was deep but a mass of land merged under his feet and kept the water level at his knee caps.

As he kept advancing on the lake surface he kept hearing whispers and voices, the strain on his mind kept increasing, it became tougher and tougher to deal with the voices as they became louder.

Luckily for him, he had the spirit speaker, she helped him to calm his mind as they both took the test.

As he got closer to the lake, his eyes got bloodshot. His breathing became heavy and his mind was foggy.

The waterfall was within touching distance, it was imposing a terrible amount of pressure on Lancelot Jr. Who kept advancing without considering the strain.

He then started to stretch his hands to grab the stone, but as soon as his hands connected with the water, intense painful images flashed through his mind.

He withdrew his hands immediately, the sharp strain and tugging on his mind was so intense, it felt so unbearable.

He saw the scenes of the death of a lot of elementals, the crying, and wailing, and the price some paid.

He went through the history of the Nights' lineage from the beginning of time. He lived through so many dispensations in a few seconds, it felt like hell.

"This dude is going to fail, just turn back you rascal, and go back to where you came from"

Sir Zuco snickered from outside the test stage.

Sir Jenny gave sir Zuco a displeased look but kept mute. Lancelot Jr was struggling to hold on, the strain on his mind was getting to the threshold beyond which he couldn't muster anymore strength to hold on.
