Wonyoung x Reader: On an evening in Roma

A/N: This is the last chapter of this Wonyoung fic, because sometimes happy endings do exist

"Yujin, we need to talk." The Company Representative said, Yujin nodding as she gestured for the girls, save for Wonyoung who had already left, to go and rest in the dorm

"What's going on?" Yujin tried to ask as politely as she could, trying with all her might to hide her contempt.

"What's wrong with Wonyoung? We've been getting so many negative comments about Wonyoung looking down or uninterested, the people are accusing the Company of mistreating Wonyoung! Can you believe that?" The representative bemoaned, Yujin raising an eyebrow at the comment. Was this representative a new hire?

"Yeah, no way." Yujin dryly quipped, but once again, it went over the representative's head

"Well, whatever it is, go deal with it." The representative left with a huff

Yujin rolled her eyes as soon as the representative was out of view, could the company really be so dense?

She wasn't wrong though, and Yujin knew it. It got worse since you left. Wonyoung refused to leave her room unless it was for schedules, not even Gaeul could get her to eat anymore. Plates of food for her would go untouched, and there was no more spark in her eyes anymore.

Laying on her bed, Yujin stared at the ceiling, the parcel you had sent her laying to her side as she pondered her next course of action. Inside the parcel was a burner phone, in it a letter with an address in Italy, and one phone number, one Yujin assumed was yours, to call you in case of an emergency. Did this one count?

Turning to face the phone, Yujin lightly ran her fingers across it, when suddenly, she felt her head throwback, a thought flashing through her head.

The events of December the Second flashed across Yujin's mind, the funeral and your barricading of Dispatch, Leeseo's outburst, everything. Then, the name, "Xin"

Bolting up from the horrible vision she had received, she quickly ran to Wonyoung's room

"Wonyoung! Are you okay?" Yujin shouted, banging on the door desperately

Getting no response, Yujin grew frantic, quickly barging into the room, looking around desperately, seeing Wonyoung laying on her bed.

"Wony! Are you okay?" Yujin quickly moved toward Wonyoung, only stopping when Wonyoung turned, glaring at her.

"I told you not to call me that. Y/N called me that." Wonyoung coldly replied, turning away

"Please, Wonyoung, it was Y/N's choice..." Yujin tried to talk, only for Wonyoung to turn around, eyes burning in a rage.

"You could have told me! I could have talked to them! I could have convinced them to stay! That we could work this all out!" Wonyoung screamed, hand gripped tight, Yujin turning away.

"I didn't want to tell you this...but Wonyoung, I tried to keep Y/N here. The girls and I decided that if the two of you wanted to fight the company, we'd do it too." Yujin admitted, seeing Wonyoung deflate a little.

"I wanted to fight too, but Y/N wanted to leave, they didn't want to ruin our careers. But I know the two of you, Wonyoung, and I know Y/N regrets it already." Yujin said, sitting next to Wonyoung as she processed what Yujin was saying.

"I promise you we'll fight if we have to." Yujin said, before looking at the parcel in her hand, contemplating her next move, before she set the parcel on Wonyoung's bed, taking Wonyoung's hand in hers.

"Wony, listen, I don't know what you want to do, but this is an option for you. I just want you to know that if you want to fight, the girls will fight with you."

Yujin whispered as she reassuringly gripped Wonyoung's hand, before turning to leave the room.

Wonyoung quickly tackled her into a hug, tears falling as she embraced the person she had long considered a sister

"Thank you Yujin, I'm sorry." Wonyoung muttered through sobs, as Yujin patted her bag with a smile on her face, trying her best to stifle her tears.

"What are you going to do now?" Yujin looked on in confusion as Wonyoung reached across the bed, grabbing her phone

"Hi, this is Wonyoung. Could we move the event to another city?"

"Rome, Italy."

"Thank you, come again!" You bowed, as you handed the elderly couple their drink, the two smiling as they bowed in return.

Your shoulders deflated as they left the cafe, relaxing a little as you leaned on the counter behind you, your manager Andrea chuckling as she slid you a chair, allowing you to rest your legs

"Thanks Andrea." You chuckle, wiping the sweat off your forehead.

"You've adjusted pretty well so far. Never had an employee, especially a foreign one, assimilate so quickly. Tell you what, take the rest of the day off, take some time to explore the city, Rome is beautiful at night."

Grateful for the rest, you bow to Andrea, turning to head for the back kitchen, changing out of your work clothes into a more relaxed fit.

"So, Y/N, anyone special you're gonna bring out for a walk later? Fastest way to a girl's heart is a walk down the streets of Rome."

Your heart panged at the thought of Wonyoung, but you pushed it down, smiling to Andrea as you shook your head.

"I'm just saying Y/N, when in Rome." Andrea waved you off, and you were about to leave the cafe, before Andrea called for you.

"Oh yeah! Before I forget, there's supposed to be some big event happening here soon, so just be prepared for higher than usual customer numbers."

You flashed her a thumbs up, before leaving the cafe.

Fingers trembling, you quickly put your gloves on, draping a scarf around your neck, rubbing your hands together as you walked down the street, admiring the burgeoning moon, shining so close.

Sitting on a bench at a nearby park, you leaned back, watching as couples and lovers disappear two by two, enjoying a nice cup of expresso and sharing beautiful moments together. You missed that.

"You seem to be feeling down, my friend, care to share your woes?" An elderly man sat beside you, seemingly noticing your forlorn look.

"I just miss someone." You replied, angling your body towards your new friend

"Whoever they are, they must be someone special." The elderly man commented, as you chuckled.

"She's beyond special." You smile at just the thought of her, something not missed by the elderly man.

"If I may ask, where is this special lady today?"

The night you left her flashed before you again, sadness washing over you.

"I had to leave her, for her sake, for her career." You confessed to the old man, who maintained a caring smile as he patted you on the back.

"Life's too short to let anything stop love my friend. Take it from an old man who has seen too much, go to her. It'll all work out." The old man said, getting up from the bench, resting his hand on your shoulder with a reassuring grip.

"The next time love knocks, answer."

It was at this point that you noticed his ring was on his right ring finger, not his left. He followed your eyeline, so he just smiled as you looked at him sympathetically.

"Like I said kid, answer."

As the elderly man limped away, walking cane supporting his strut, you leaned back on the bench, his words echoing in your mind. Was leaving Wonyoung a mistake? Just then, as if on cue, you felt something you had hoped would never ring rustle in your pocket, panic bubbling in your chest.

Taking out the burner phone, you saw a message

"Y/N"

In a hurry, you quickly replied to the message

"Yujin? What's wrong? Did something happen to Wony?"

The text bubble lingered for a short while, before another message came in.

"Meet me by the fountain behind the building 2 blocks ahead."

You tilted your head in confusion, you knew that fountain, it was one of the places you headed to when you needed a rest, but how did Yujin know?

"What?"

"Come, Y/N, I'll be waiting near the seats."

You got up from the bench, walking toward the fountain with haste as a thousand thoughts bombarded your mind.

Approaching the fountain, you find the empty seats, looking around nervously as your hands trembled. What was so serious that Yujin had to come all the way to Rome to look for you?

You froze as soon as you saw someone approach in the periphery, a familiar face sitting next to you, staring at the night sky

"Wony? Wha-" You tried to talk but she quickly grabbed your hand, gently caressing it in hers as she looked to the sky.

"You were right Y/N. Rome's night sky is beautiful." She whispered, leaning onto your shoulder.

You'd think your mind would be overloading right now, but curiously enough, it all went silent.

The two of you sat there in silence, looking up at the night sky, appreciating the stars and the breeze, the two of you only had each other, and that was enough.

As Wonyoung laid her head on your shoulder, music began to fill the piazza, a flashmob exploded in front of you, melodious symphonies blasted from the speakers as couples all around the two of you waltzed about the piazza

"May I have this dance?" Wonyoung asked with a cheeky grin, her hand extended to you as you looked at her with slight disdain

"Wony, you know I have only one left foot right? I'm so bad that the other left foot doesn't exist." You quipped, Wonyoung rolling her eyes

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do, Y/N" She said as she pulled you up, the two of you slow dancing under the moonlight, music guiding your movements as the two of you swayed, Wonyoung letting out a soft giggle as she saw you stumble over yourself, making sure to help balance you, the dance slowing down as Wonyoung put her hands down, instead wrapping it around you as your hands wrapped around her too, her face nuzzled into your neck as she hummed in delight, the two of you lightly swaying.

The levity of the moment soon subsided, the two of you laying on the bench as the situation dawned upon you once again, though Wonyoung seemingly read your mind right as you thought it.

"Yujin's talking to the managers right now, I haven't heard much from her but last I heard, it's going well, the company's giving in."

Slightly shocked by that response, you nodded, turning away from Wonyoung as you lowered your head.

"I'm sorry for leaving like that again."

Hearing that Wonyoung smacked you across the shoulder, but a small smile on her face showed you that she wasn't too angry.

"That was an asshole move L/N, don't ever do that again."

"So what do we do now?" You asked nervously, but Wonyoung put your mind at ease, lightly gripping your hand, before pulling you in for a kiss that she had waited forever for.

"We let Yujin do her thing, and wait for good news. For now, let's just enjoy this, this was your dream date, wasn't it? You and me, on an evening in Roma."
