KingsStreet: Ante Bellum

"Why you killed her, Vaterian! Where did your principal gone? You said you will never do it again!" Igor, shouting against me, looked at the body laying on the ground. Her blonde hair was covered with mud and water. Rain dropped on her armor, creating a clear and melodious singing. "Ilse!!!" As I recalled the past, the scream and shock could still be heard and felt even after 9 years. The Ink of the Judgement that exiled me 1 year ago remain warm and moist. "Run far away from the country." My father's advice is still being whispered in my ear. I turn around facing Igor, "Man always powered by something, dream, love, ambition. You always pushed by those wonders, My friend. but I only seek vengeance."

Me and my broken heart

Vaterian walked out of the brothel and walked into a dark alley, those lower prostitutes tried to get close to him and offer him some "assistant", but all of them fall back after seeing his horrible condition.

Cover under his torn cloak Vaterian had never been so untidy, his entire cloak was covered in blood, some of them from his previous enemy, some from monsters and some from himself. Despite trying to wash them off, little progress was made.

Holding two long swords in his hand while walking blindly to the deeper part of the alley, Vaterian saw countless Sirens trying to persuade him to spend his money on them but the blue eyes shining in the dark haunted and forced them to leave as soon as he looks at them.

"Interesting, walked into an alley but not willing to spend, I wonder why you even come here, miseur." Someone behind Vaterian talked to him, without looking back Vaterian knew they were up for him.

"Just like I wonder why you came here? Just for an arrest? I don't think I committed any sort of crime that was worth your effort?" Vaterian turned around and face the guards, two of them, wearing over-decorated clothing with a rapier and a buckler hanging on their waist. Very different to what Vaterian usually saw in the Kingdom, most guards can't afford such a piece of expensive equipment.

"You knew it, Sir. We can't afford a person who might murder a couple of people to come here and just walk in and out of our store, if you just cooperate with us all would be all fine." Those guards seem quite relaxed about this task, there were not a lot of people willing to challenge the guards of the Sirens bay just to prevent being held for a couple of days.

"But I'm sure you might break a couple of bones in that process, right? Just to make sure I can't put up any resistance." Vaterian knew how these guards behave, they always make sure you lost the ability to fight back before you are arrested, no matter whether you obey them or not.

"It's not in our procedure, Sir."

"But it doesn't mean that you won't do it, I know that's the best way to release the stress you have taken for days." Vaterian sighed after he saw these men just avoiding the question, he decided to ask about Igor.

"So, how was my friend doing? All fine for him?"

"Lucky for him, he didn't get hurt much because he cooperated with us, even though he was forced to submit because you took away his sword. But overall you didn't need to worry about him, those ladies didn't want him to go, nor did they want him to be hurt." Those guards were jealous of Igor, to be fair they worked here for years and those high-rank Sirens haven't looked at them for even a brief moment.

"Did those ladies have the same impression on me?" Vaterian won't be surprised about this result, that's why he took away Igor's sword and he believes Igor will know what he meant.

"I don't think any person would like to have any relationship with someone that seems to have been in an onslaught." Without any surprise from the answer given by the guards, the person who plays the instrument behind would never be noticed, it will be worse if he played badly as Vaterian did.

"Perfect then, easy job for you, I think. Don't need to care about those ladies and your employers."

"Today was a great day for bloodshed isn't it?" Vaterian raised his arms and looked at the blood that keep washing away by the heavy rain, his calm and deep voice let those guards feel the situation might not going as they thought, they pulled out their weapons.

"I only say once, if you put down your weapons, there will be no bloodshed today." Those guards warned Vaterian and held their stances and positions.

"What if I say no?"

"If you don't come willingly, I will use force!"

"Perfect, that's also what I wished. Something need to be done to mend me, and my broken heart." Vaterian pulled out his sword and placed Igor's on the ground.

The rain continue falling heavily and the thundering sky bring a moment of light for the people, from the brief lighting the guards saw a grin on the youngster's face.
