Chapter 2: The Obligatory Info Dump

So yea, I'm officially a Reincarnator.

Suck it! All you scrubs still living your normal lives waiting for Truck-kun to send you off to an isekai harem in a fantasy world filled with elves and boobs.

I'm not bitter at all. Nope, definitely not. I didn't want to be dropped off in the middle of some random forest in a random fantasy world anyway. Nope, some other shmuck can have that honor. I'm perfectly happy here in Marvel. Where some random idiot with super powers could wreck a city block. Or some evil terrorist organization could infiltrate a government agency that specializes in infiltrating other organizations. Or God forbid, half of all life in the universe just randomly disappears one day.

Yea, I would be perfectly happy. If I actually had any awesome superpowers! Come on, why do I still not have any superpowers yet!?

"I'm sorry sir. But currently, I am still in development mode and am unable to unlock the other functions to grant you the superpowers you've been wanting." Karen, the system AI that I named, answered me in the same relaxed voiced I've grown accustomed to since I could remember.

Sigh, at first I was so happy to finally acquired the system as well as all of the memories of my past life on my third birthday. Thank God for the small mercy that I didn't have to actually live through the moment of my birth and the early baby years.

It was an interesting experience to suddenly hear a strange woman's voice in my head introducing herself as the system while I was unwrapping the presents my family had gotten me. It certainly was real interesting or should I say frightening for my family to suddenly see me keel over unconscious as all of my past life's memories came rushing back in with the system. To this day, my family and the doctors still have no ideas what had caused me to suddenly lose consciousness and I have no intention of ever enlightening them.

At first, after waking up from a two days nap, I was really excited to have regained my memory from my last life as well as now having access to my system. And then all of my excitement and expectations went away just as fast when I learned that most of my system's functionalities were locked.

Frustration was not enough to describe how I felt that first night after waking up. I had spent that whole morning sitting through tests after tests to assured my parent and the doctors that nothing was wrong with me. I've never felt so violated in my two lives. I was not able to explore the system the entire time since any odd behaviors would only be prolonging my suffering even further.

And then, when I was finally able to play with the brand new system I had, I learned that night what it's like to wish murder on someone.

Where were my starter pack with millions of shop points and legendary skills!? Hell! Where was the shop!?

How was I suppose to be overpowered with end tiered legendary weapons and skills by my fifth birthday? Isn't that suppose to be the norm for Reincarnators?

The only functions I had access to was my status, skills, and tasks. I looked everywhere I could and I questioned Karen for hours trying to find anything different to no avail.

When I finally checked on my status, it just made me even more sad.

Name: Benjamin King

Race: Human

Credits: 0

And that's all I had. Just my name and race. I had questioned Karen on what credits were used for. She told me it's for the shop, which I don't have access to. Opening the skill tab showed that I indeed had no skills and the same was for the tasks.

And so, despite my massive disappointment, life continued on. I was eventually released to go home since no other incident happened to cause me to lose consciousness again. And the doctors never could figured out what if anything was wrong with me. Unfortunately, for the first several months my parent were really overbearing and was constantly checking on me. And when they weren't around to do so, they would have one of the servants stay nearby to keep an eye on me.

Yep, that's right, you heard it. My family have servants. It would seem that the family I reincarnated into in this life is quite wealthy. It wasn't until years later that I learned about my family's history and how we are so wealthy.

The Kings, my family, actually comes from old money. Very old money. It first started with my great-great-however many greats-grandfather who was a high level naval officer in the British Royal Navy during the great colonial period. And back then, naval officers made very good money.

When the Americas were discovered, my family had used our money and jumped in very early seeking opportunities. We eventually ended up settling In the south in what became Virginia. We had one of the largest cotton plantation in the state, employing hundreds of slaves.

We had then weathered through the war for independence against the British by not openly supporting either side but secretly smuggling goods and supplies to the Revolutionaries. Through our actions, we were able to gather great influences with the movers and shakers of the new government.

And then, when the country was on the brink of civil war, the then head of the family had made a truly bold gamble. He had seen that a break was inevitable and that we would have to pick a side. And so, he sold off our family's plantation, lands, and slaves to several rival families and then gambled it all on the North.

Before war broke out, our family had relocated to the North with all of our wealth. The family ended up resettling in New York and had never left to this very day. Using our vast wealth, we invested into several factories and textile mills throughout the Northern States. Most of which, went on to become very successful thus further increasing our wealth.

When War once against ravage Europe, our family's factories were busy making tanks and weapons for the Allies. This was all during my grandfather's time. And then when the Allies had finally defeated the Nazi, in the aftermath of the war, my grandfather begun investing in many new ventures that started popping up.

The best investment my grandfather had made by far was in a young new genius name Howard Stark. He had managed to negotiate for 10% of the new Stark Enterprise and to the present day my family still holds onto those shares.

Speaking of family, despite being such an old one, ours is not very large. Through the generations, our family never had more than 3 children and all of those lines have died off in one way or another leaving only my Grandfather's line remaining. Which leaves me, an only child so far, the heir to a vast fortune.

Of course, I didn't truly learn about the history of my family until I was much older. Growing up in a wealthy family was completely different to growing up as an orphan in my previous life. There was no need to compete for meals or toys, anything that I wanted I was able to get. And then, when it was time to start school, I didn't have to go to a public one but instead enrolled in a private school.

It was at that point, when I started school, that my life got a bit more interesting. My system that have done nothing up to this point had started to give out tasks. And these tasks came with credit rewards.

Generally, the tasks that were given out by the system fell under two categories. They were Developmental or Social task. A developmental task consisted of either learning something new or improving an existing skill. Whereas, the social task had me do things like have the highest grade or make a new friend.

So, as a result of these tasks, by the time I graduated high school I was our class' valedictorian. I was by far, the most popular guy as Prom King and the star Quarterback.

Aside from my active social life, in private, I had became very proficient in several martial arts. I had first started out with learning Karate by asking my parent. Then I branched out to Jujitsu and then Krav Maga. Through the developmental tasks, I've also developed many technical skills like computer codings as well as minor engineering.

Admittedly, I'm no where close to Tony Stark's level of engineering genius, but I'd like to think I'm a much more rounded individual. I've dipped into many different fields of study, not enough to be considered a master or even a genius by any stretch of the imagination.

Speaking of Stark, I've also done my own independent research in order to confirm that I am indeed in Marvel's universe and which universe it was. From what I was able to research, Stark Industry was a thing so at least Iron Man would exist. The Young genius Howard Stark, Founder and CEO of Stark Industry, had a son in 1970 who he named Anthony Stark. Who, like his father, was an absolute genius in the field on engineering. Building his first car engine by the age of 5 and graduating MIT by 15.

All of this information was easy enough to learn about since it was a major features in Times magazine and a study subject in my middle school social studies class. I was 12 at the time Tony Stark graduated MIT and became featured in Times Magazine. Which puts me 3 years his Junior.

I was salty for a whole week when I learned of that news. Once again lamenting how my system was still mostly locked. That could've been me. It should've been me!

And then, things like SHIELD was much harder to look up without drawing attention so I just left those alone. But I was able to confirm the existence of Captain America since I went on a school field trip to his Museum in DC one year.

In my search, I've found no trace of a Baxter building or Oscorp. But I don't remember much about the Fantastic Four from my previous life so I don't really know when the Baxter was even built. Albeit, the internet was still in its early infancy at the time with no convenient search engines to do these kind of research.

I then went searching for the existence of mutants. I had known that in most comics, Charles Xavier had a PHD in psychology or something like that. He had also published papers of mutants and the X-gene. And so, I had scoured all kinds of obscure medical papers looking for anything on Mutants, X-genes, or Charles Xavier. Nothing. No mentions of people with super power generating mutations. No special genes in the human genome. And no wheel chair bound baldy spouting peace and coexistence.

Well, enough reminiscing, it's time to go get ready. Today, I finally turn 18 and there's going to be a large party later tonight. And it's going to be a party to remember.

And according to Karen, I have one final Social task for tonight. "Right Karen?"

"That's right sir. This is the final task. Once you complete it, you will have completed the development period of the system and I will then be fully unlocked." Karen answered.

Social Task: You're An Adult Now Son

Description: Finally, you're 18! You're now considered a legal adult. But before we start adulting, you must have one last celebration for your childhood. Throw the grandest party you can and invite all of your friends. This is a day of celebration!
