Chapter 4: Decision

"Good Morning." Gojo greeted Yuji as he woke up from his unconscious state.

"Good morning." Yuji also returned the greeting. Due to his battle with Sukuna, he feels refreshed, but Sukuna doesn't seem to be doing so well. While their fight wasn't completely one-sided, Sukuna being incomplete with his soul scattered and Yuji bound by the restrictions he had placed on himself because of that, they both couldn't muster their full force.

But from the fight alone, Yuji could say that Sukuna was one of the strongest powerhouses. If not the strongest, his fighting style was extremely refined and his fighting style was made to kill his opponent.

"Itadori Yuji, your execution has been set up and the good news is that it's temporarily suspended." What the fuck? Yuji wanted to ask. He had no clue what the Gojo was thinking.

Is this something you'd say to a kid who just woke up? He's probably joking, but maybe he has a screw loose in his head. Who am I kidding? After living so long, I wonder if I'm still sane. Yuji then looked straight at Gojo. Whether sane or not, he needs to collect information to blend in with the current society.

"Can you explain what is happening? I can't understand what you are saying. Why am I being executed? What is this cursed spirit? And why am I in this weird-looking room."

"Alright, let me explain from the top," Gojo said as he took a similar-looking finger from his pocket, it looked exactly the same as the memory of previous Yuji.

"This is the same as the cursed item you ate. There are twenty of them, and six are currently in the possession of Jujutsu High." Then Gojo inserted his cursed energy into Sukuna's and crashed it into the wall-covering talisman.

There was no damage to the finger.

"As you can see, these curses are so powerful that no one can destroy them. Each passing day makes them even stronger. We don't have anyone who can completely seal them, let alone destroy them. This is where you come in. You have the ability to become the vessel for sukuna without losing your will. If you die then the Cursed Item will also destroy along with you."

"However, our elders were cowards; they immediately ordered your execution after hearing the news. That would be a waste of talent, so I made a proposal to them; If we're going to kill him, then why not kill him after he consumes the rest of the Sukuna's Cursed Item?"

Gojo explained.

Before I should go to the mortuary to collect Yuji's grandfather's body, considering it a form of payment for possessing this body. Yuji thought.

What Yuji thinks is disturbing by human standards, because he's partly responsible for the previous Yuji's death and the current him is trying to make amends by giving a proper burial for his grandfather's body—It's not equal, no matter who compares it.

However, for current Yuji, this is just a usual thing; he views life and death as illusions. It's only his last bit of humanity that makes him try to compensate for possessing Yuji's body.

After giving a proper burial to the Itadori's grandfather, Yuji was sitting on a bench with Gojo on his right.

"Who was it?" Gojo asked, he was with Yuji during the entire process.

"My Grandfather."

"Sorry to bother you in such a situation. Have you made your decision?"

"Yes."

"Looking at you, it seems like a positive thing. Here, you know what to do with this." Gojo said as he handed over the Sukuna's finger to Yuji.

Not the worst I've seen, and eaten, but at least I hope it tastes good. Yuji took Sukuna's finger from Gojo's hand and ate it.
