Chapter 2: Kurogane Clan

The clan was located in a mountainous region, a secluded place between the forests and the mountains. The mist that covered the highest parts of the mountains not only hid the clan from prying eyes, but also served as a natural barrier. The surroundings were full of protections and cursed seals. This isolation also made it easier to practice and master their techniques without attracting too much attention from the outside world.

Ren observed the Kurogane Clan's training camp, He had spent the last hour practicing and perfecting the clan's basic techniques. Thanks to his memories he was able to master them quickly.

He found it amazing that the clan used the cursed energy to manipulate gravity, although at the moment he could only use the technique on small objects or generate low level gravitational fields.

[Mission completed].

As soon as he finished pondering, the system displayed a panel in front of him.

Ren smiled slightly as he watched the panel disappear.

As he reviewed the panel in his mind, he quietly made his way to the main clan area, observing other members in their training. They were all practicing diligently, Controlling gravity required a delicate balance between power and precision.

Ren watched as a clan member, much older than him, attempted to lift a considerably heavy object, but after obvious effort, the object only lifted a few inches before falling back down hard.

"It's not a simple thing..." Ren, pondering over the clan's technique.

At that moment, a familiar voice interrupted him.

"Ren, what are you doing around here?"

It was Takumi Kurogane, the clan's field sorcerer. His tone was relaxed, without the formality Ren had expected. It didn't surprise him, though.

"I just finished my practice session" Ren replied with a smile.

"You don't seem to waste any time" Takumi smiled and watched him curiously.

"I guess it's good that a young man like you is taking training seriously, Clan technique is something they take years to master."

"Yes, I've noticed" Ren said, looking again at the training members.

"That's right" replied Takumi, resting a hand on Ren's shoulder. "Remember that this technique isn't just a destructive force, it's something that can be turned against you."

Ren nodded, understanding why the Kurogane Clan had chosen to keep a low profile so far, despite having such a powerful technique, it was not easy to control. "Yes, I understand."

"Well if you need anything, you know where to find me."

As Takumi walked away, Ren reflected again on what he had learned so far.

As Ren made his way back to the practice area, one of the clan's servants, a boy no more than fifteen years old, approached him with a letter in hand.

"Ren-sama," said the young man bowing respectfully as he extended the notice to him. "This just arrived."

Ren took the letter, observing the young servant who maintained a respectful posture.

"Thank you" Ren replied, nodding slightly before the boy bowed goodbye and withdrew.

Unfolding the letter, Ren read about the curses that had arisen. They were a constant annoyance, but necessary for his growth. Just as he was about to put the notice away, the system activated, projecting a new panel in front of him.

- Objective 1: Eliminate 5 Grade 3 curses that have appeared in the vicinity of the mountain.

- Objective 2: Eliminate 1 Grade 2 curse.

Ren studied the panel for a moment, assessing the new mission. "Five grade 3 curses . that shouldn't be that complicated." But he should be careful when faced with the higher grade curse.

A smile formed on his lips as he closed the panel. The challenge excited him.

"A higher grade curse, huh?" muttered Ren with a faint smile, but first of all he should prepare himself and see what techniques he could get in the system store.
