"Welcome to my Jupiter. It has been a while since humans established here. Well, the prophesy of Earth finally getting full and not able to shelter it's inhabitants came to pass. The poor and 'useless' people were selected as those leaving the planet. As there was clearly no way humans could survive in Jupiter.

Humans finally arriving Jupiter was a miracle. The war of life became worse as the climate was considerably harsh compared to Earth. Many found it easy to adapt while few didn't. Much of the casualties were from the young and elderly.

And the only chance to survive was to evolve. As usual, for some it was rapid while others was very slow. And those who quickly evolved quickly despised those who didn't. And did not hesitate to pour their frustration on them.

With the new pressure mounted upon the weak, so called, 'weaklings' had no choice but to look for others ways to survive, not just waiting for their system to adapt. By so doing, they studied nature and started copying adaptations from various organisms.

Some copied the insects like the ants, coming out when everyone had retired to hunt their food as their defense mechanism was weak. Others took attacking the weaker ones as prey. And some preys took the adaptation of the butterfly, storing poison, making attempts of confrontation fruitless.

This all happened as the government spent their resources on the strong leaving the weaker ones to battle for survival, causing evolution in the weaker realm.

Years passed by, so did decades and here we are still under this unwritten rule, of the strong having more privileges as the weak had very little chance of survival.

And nothing has been done against this system with unwritten rule..."

"Jakes!" A woman who seemed to be in her mid-forties, half screamed as she saw her son watching a documentary m

He just stayed and stared like he heard not heard a word.

"I am not sure about this mom." He said as he slowly turned towards her direction.

"It is just a TEST." She said as she dropped the shopping bags on the floor as she emphasized the last word. "I don't have all day, so you better be fast."

He slowly crawled out of the sofa and emptied the bags.

"A red shirt?" He mumbled as he singled it out of the items he had poured on his bed.

"I thought of you wearing something colourful." She said as she made her way for the door. "Moreover, you can't take it back." She said as she stopped midway at took a look at him.

"You took of the tag." He said angry this time. "Because..."

"Exactly, so no complain."

"Why in Jupiter, would you buy me a blue jeans?" He screamed , angrier this time.

"With white sneakers," she added as she crossed her arms, not in the least disturbed by the boy's annoyance.

"I am 18 for crying out loud, can't I make my choices??" He asked as he angrily stomped his feet .

"No, I am your mother and I know what I good for you " She said emphasizing every word and sternly looking at him in the eye. "So you do what I tell you to do."

He angrily stamped his feet on his way to the bathroom, kicking every thing his feet met.

*Bang*

He slammed the door against her.

'Even if that is the least I can do.' He thought to himself as he leaned against the door, looking at his reflection in the mirror infront of him. Not that he was expecting his mom to charge against him at any moment. His mom would would not waste energy running around and trying to beat someone up, she would do worse.

'I don't care what she is going to do.' He thought to himself. 'I am getting sick o this.'

He just leaned against the door, breathing heavily as if he had been running a marathon.

"You just have 25 minutes." She said as she gently closed the door.

He skipped from the door as he heard his mother's voice. His black pupils turned white as his fingers emitted ice against the door.

*Ting* *Ting* *Ting*

As some of the ice fell on the floor. He tried stepping on them to avoid them from making noise.

"Ouch." He groaned as the good substance touched his feet, causing him pain.

'I have to do fast.' He thought to himself as he walked away from the 'ice'.

After having his bath;

"What is it still doing here? It ought to have melted."

He tried picking it up but he let go and he help his fingers to himself. As if thinking that would help stop the pain.

'It hurt my feet and now my hands. It surely does not want me to touch it.'

With that, he managed to push it from behind the door and made his way out of the bathroom.

Just got more ten minutes.

"I can't believe my mom is making me wear this." He thought aloud.

"Good morn," He greeted as he entered the kitchen.

"Morning darling." She answered as she turned to take a look at him. She was on the big side and had an average height. The cap she wore held her hair from bracing her neck.

"You look colourful today." Se commented.

"Whatever," He replied as he looked through the cupboards. "It's not like I had a choice."

"Well, I make bok choy sauce and white rice." She said as she dropped the plate of rice and green sauce and cut cabbage on the center table.

*Munch* *Munch* *Munch*

"So what are you up to?" She asked as she leaned on the table facing Jakes.

*Munch* "Taking the test." *Munch* *Munch*

"But you did that on Monday." She said as her brow arched.

"Yeah." He mumbled. "This one is on powers. It is powerful."

"But is that really necessary?" She asked.

*Sigh* He sighed as he stopped eating, using his fork to separate the greens from the rice. "It will be used to make my ID."

"Don't worry," Nancy said as she stoke his back. "Everything will be alright."

I hope so.
