The next thing Hunter did was to open the World Map.
Unlike the minimap he opened that had the Fog of War, this one clearly detailed the entire world from a macro point of view. It was split into 50 areas, with each area distinct from the other.
Each area was marked with a name, and when Hunter looked at these names, his pupils constricted as he felt like he knew what these things were all about.
"One Punch Man Area, Attack on Titan Area, One Piece Area, Naruto Area, Full Metal Alchemist Area…" Hunter read out some of the more familiar labels out loud, his mind seeming to spark with remembrance as he uttered them.
He then glanced at the area where he was located and felt his lips tremble.
"Dragon Ball Area…"
Hunter was silent for a while, his pupils dazed as he almost seemed to see a screen before him playing out blurry scenes from animations full of fighting, golden-haired warriors, and cruel enemies.
When he came to, Hunter breathed out lightly and closed the world map. He first checked and saw that the Dragon Ball Area was at the northeasternmost part of the map, bordered by nothingness.
The two nearest areas to this one were the Hunter x Hunter Area and the Demon Slayer Area. Hunter kept this in mind, although the distance between the areas was so large he didn't think he could possibly fly between them even if he spent a whole year.
Well, not at his current speed.
And that brought Hunter squarely to the problem he had noticed earlier. A prompt had told him that his skills and talents could only be increased by investing skill points, which explained why despite using them, they did not become stronger on their own.
Currently, his lists and skills and talents that could be upgraded were limited. Everything was also at level 1 and at its weakest form, so it was not known what kind of utility they would show once Hunter invested in them.
So far, Hunter had not heard of any other source for Skill Points, so he was more inclined to invest them wisely. As for Attribute Points, they were things that had to be spent as they were acquired because the number of stats you could invest in would never change, unlike skills where newer - and better ones - could be acquired later on.
And thinking of that, he opened the character trainers tab. There he saw a drop-down list of people with portraits attached who he could be taught techniques and moves from as long as he passed their initiation mission.
The more Hunter looked through, the more his memories cleared up, and the more he knew about the world he was in.
Seeing familiar names like Goku and his techniques which included the Kamehameha as well as the various Super Saiyan forms, Vegeta and his techniques which included the Galick Gun as well as Final Flash, and even Gohan with his Masenko and Potential Unlocked.
Hunter found himself perfectly able to picture them in his head, their looks, their attacks, and their personalities. He understood that these were the people he was modeled after, and they were also those he needed to meet.
"Ugh!" Hunter groaned and clutched his forehead, feeling a spike of pain as his forehead throbbed. This strong recollection seemed to have caused some form of backlash. If Hunter remembered correctly, the information stated that there was a problem with his limbic system, which handled memory.
He knew he was in a virtual world at this point and there was a life he had outside of this game, but all of that information was completely scrambled in his head. Hunter guessed that there must have been a bug in the system or some fault that prevented his memory from carrying across properly.
Thinking about it, rather than continue, the best thing to do would be to log out and see if this issue would be fixed. Hunter did not want to spend a single skill point or attribute point without having access to his full wealth of knowledge that might let him make far better decisions than he would now.
Just as Hunter thought it, he called up the character menu and looked for a way to log out, but was puzzled to find that there wasn't any such way. He was confused and called up every menu he could to see if it held the option he was looking for, but after multiple failed attempts, Hunter's expression became somber as a realization hit him.
…he couldn't log out!!
No matter what he tried or did, he couldn't log out! For some reason, this concept seemed very familiar to him, but his already throbbing brain was not in the mood to deal with more attempts to dig out information.
Rather than that, Hunter stood up slowly from his seated position and glanced towards the forest that was still filled with explosions, fires, and fighting that even took to the sky as power levels rose and fell in the distance.
It was one thing for the Frieza Force goons to be extinguished, but what about the Saiyans? His fellow 'players' that came to this world with him? Did they also have memory problems, or was that related to just him? Could they also not log out or once again, was that just him?
Hunter glanced at his attribute points and unhesitatingly placed them into Intellect.
There was an argument to be made for Power and even for Agility, but Intellect had the biggest effect in raising his power level mathematically and also allowed him to have more ki, which was vital in everything he did.
Now, his character menu looked like this.
