Chapter 103

Chris eyes followed Grace's hand and his face darkened, he remembered that room so well that was his past, his former room where he had tried to take his own life

he didn't want that room opened but he also wanted Jane close to him as well, he thought for a moment

Jane noticed the change in the air, something seems to be wrong with that room, ' what can it be? ' she thought

"it's fine set it up for them ' Chris said his voice void of any emotion and went back into his room

Estella heard what he said and ushered the maids in

Estella opened the room, the room was filled with dust and cobwebs, after all the room had been locked for five years now

"we are going to need more hands if we are to get this done in an hour" Grace said

"I can join in" Jane said

"me too" Grace volunteered

"no way, your mother will be so angry if she finds out that you are helping out with the chores" Estella interjected

"yes but we need to be fast, I'm sure she won't find out if no one talks, come on let's be fast with it" Grace said and they all got to work

some minutes later, two maids were asked to join them just to make the work even faster

and after what seems to be an hour, everywhere was sparkling clean, Jane carried little Chris into the room and laid him on the bed

"oh gosh I feel so tired, even though I didn't even do much" Grace said when she was left alone with Jane in the room

"yea but you still did something thank you very much" Jane said

"it's fine, I'm happy to do it" Grace said "and don't worry we will have the interior of this room changed, some things are already outdated, and I will have some clothes delivered for Chris and you can come into the my room later on to pick some clothes you can wear till we go shopping later in the day" Grace explained

"no there's no need, everything is fine" Jane said

"I insist, this is my nephew's room too" Grace said

Jane chulcked "you better leave now before madam wakes up" Jane teased her

"oh that's true, I should get going" Grace said

"I think I should just go with you so I can just pick the dress I need, it's already daybreak I should start preparing for work" Jane said

"oh okay let's go then" Grace said and they both left

Jane followed Grace to her room and picked a gown, she tried her best to pick something very simple

all of Grace's cloth were expensive and looked extraordinary, she picked the most simple of them, she was going to work and not a party

she came back to her room and little Chris was still sleeping, she wondered why though, but she didn't think much of it

she looked around the room, she was just having the time to look at the room properly, the room was very big, it was just as big as the Chris's and Grace's room, she guessed that was how big all the room in the mansion was

she walked to the closet, and also to the bathroom it was exactly the same, but what she found odd was that they were still male clothes and things in the closet

she looked through them, they seemed expensive too, but it looked like a younger person cloth

somebody must have used this room before, she wondered who

she also wondered why Chris expression changed when they talked about the room

then it dawned on her, this must have been Chris's room his former room, she gasped and used her hand to cover her mouth, no wonder everywhere was so tensed, this must be the room he used before where he tried to kill himself

then why did he allow them have it

she felt touched, he must really love her son so much he didn't even care about his feelings he still allowed them used this room that brought so many bad memories to him

she almost cried but she shook the feeling away, she went back to the room, she sat on the bed, and for some reasons she felt like a princess, she had always wanted to live in such a big house just like this one, and also have a room

but too bad she was just a maid here, in the future when she saves up a lot of money she will get a very big house with nice rooms for her and her son

"mom" Chris's voice broke into her thought

"hey sweetie good morning son" Jane carried him and hugged him tightly

"mom where's this place?" Chris asked, he was curious he has never seen a room so big and beautiful except for his aunt's room he wondered if they were still in the same house and he was sure this was not the room he slept yesterday

"well this is our room now, we will be staying for as long as I work here" Jane explained

"are we still in daddy's house?" Chris asked, he was not ready to part ways with his new found father just yet

"of course darling, we are still in your daddy's room" Jane said

"wow this room is so big and beautiful, even the bed is big too mummy, I like our room very much" Chris said then his face turned sour

Jane noticed him and raised his face to meet hers

"my love what is it?" she asked

"I miss grandma" Chris complained

"don't worry baby, we will go see grandma next weekend just like your daddy promised okay? and we will call grandma later in the day" Jane pacified him

"okay mummy" Chris replied

"so now let's go take our bath I need to start working soon" Jane said and pulled Chris to the bathroom

Chris was equally marveled at the sight of everything he saw from the closet to the bathroom, and he couldn't hide his excitement as his mother bath him, as he asked his mother lots of questions and Jane happily answered him
