"Even if you tell me to stop, I'm bound by a contract," Savine said. "The moment I stop I die. The rest of all these people die as well. Not from the contract, but from you all."
"I care not for your problems. We've warned you of the consequences, but you still insisted on being stubborn."
"I offered you all the same option," Savine said. "None of you accepted. You only came to speak to me when everything was in motion. Why should I cater to all your needs?"
Savine did not mention her refusal to accept the nobles that wanted to join her side. Naturally, she never mentioned her endless goadings and taunts.
"No," the Marchioness said. "There were many chances of reconciliation. You simply never took any of them, leading to this situation."
None believed her words. There was only hatred, fear, and offence in the commoners' eyes. The Marchioness knew this, so she did not bother to continue explaining herself and got to her main point.
