Leaving the Forest [1]

Finally, deciding to leave the forest, he lived for about two years without proper shelter, only in a cave formed from magic. Kaian had prepared for a much better course in his life.

However, he still had a fragment of mourning from what had happened to Ambrose. He thought he had prepared for his departure, but it turned out that time was only distracting him from that fact. Being able to move on from one's death was hard, but he made sure to fortify his mind with the expectation that they would leave.

He appeared to be a proper and hygienic person now that he was wearing proper clothes, wove from a few fibers extracted, and also having his knowledge used on making one.

Kaian's calm and beautiful face could be seen as his previously long hair was cut down to a length just under his ears. His exquisite blue eyes reflected the path he was taking, and which he was calmly taking it.

A heavy breath came from him with every step. Supposedly, he thought that he should move on, but memories were still pulling him back. He didn't have any idea what to do, but just as he looked at the sky, he understood the purpose of his existence and the path he should take.

'What I truly wanted in the past was to have an easy and peaceful life. However, as I realized that having a peaceful one is difficult, and my parents already proved it despite giving me the elegant life they could offer, I should take what means being above others.'

'Master Ambrose has taught me elven magic, which is far above all of human magic. He wasn't able to use it well as he didn't have the magic circuits needed, but it was already given that he wanted me to use the knowledge for the better.'

'My life will turn out to be good with Master Ambrose's knowledge. And since everything, even those which are tragic has given me a better path for the peaceful life I want, I should gratefully accept it.'

A tear couldn't help but appear in Kaian's eyes as he was contemplating his life. His heart could feel the emptiness that the tragedy had given him. His village was erased, and the person who gave him another meaning in his life died from transferring all the mana he had. Nothing about him could be compared with anything else.

Coming from a twisted personality and attitude in the past, now, Kaian sought a better one. With the teaching Ambrose gave him, he started to have a small idea of what to expect in his life.

"Graaahh!"

His attention was driven back to the path and the surroundings as a nasty-looking monster appeared in front of him. He was not fully aware of the name of the monster, but he was well aware of the threat level this monster fell under.

"A wolf class..."

There are five classes of disaster threats by monsters. In descending order: God, Dragon, Demon, Tiger, and Wolf. Each class has an indicating strength, which is also used to calculate the required strength for humans. However, as this threat in front of Kaian was measly as an ant for him, despite its horrific and strong appearance, he was able to erase it easily.

Kaian flicked his finger in its direction, and just as a second snapped, a line of a light blue beam appeared, piercing through the head of the monster, which had the appearance of a rotting bear.

The monster dropped dead, and Kaian just passed through it, leaving it untouched and also ignored. He didn't care about it, as the quality of the monster should be useless as of now, which he couldn't even eat for his next meal.

However, as he passed through the monster, he noticed a shimmering item behind it. He lowered his body and picked it up, noticing it was a silver pendant and a necklace.

He pondered, then stared at it to assess its nature. Not only that, but he could see a drawing formed within the circle of silver. And thinking about it, he remembered one thing that his master said.

"This should be a symbol." He mumbled, and another fragment of knowledge gave him a hint; this one was from the books he had read in his childhood days.

"This is an emblem. One thing to show the affiliation of a family or organization."

Even though he didn't have much knowledge about family emblems, he kept them as he opened a personal dimensional space. He snapped his finger and a portal appeared. He threw it inside and then continued with his walk.

A few hours later, he could see smoke going up into the sky, and it was a sign that a settlement or a camp was near. But, as he counted the number of formations of smoke coming into the sky, he concluded that he was finally near to the city.

A smile appeared on his face and he went straight in that direction. He already had a few scenes playing in his mind, supposedly chances of human interaction and possibilities. But, suddenly, after realization hit him, the smile disappeared.

'How can a strange person like me, who didn't have much experience in socializing, expect to have smooth interaction with people in the city? I will look like a naive person in front of them.'

His mindset was on point, but it should not continue as thinking negatively wouldn't give him better chances and results. Thus, thinking of another thing that Ambrose had taught him about socializing with other people as a naive one, he shook off the negativity.

"Just act like how you did the first time meeting Master. He said that I sounded smooth for someone who doesn't socialize with other people, but on the snob side, apparently." He smirked.

Continuing on his path, he wasn't expecting that the anticipation he had about socializing with other people would come earlier, just before he could even reach the city.

In a different direction near the city, along the road, an extravagant carriage was being attacked by the same type of monsters that attacked Kaian. They had rotting bears, which were awful to look at. However, despite it being only wolf class, with the number around the carriage, they had a hard time handling the threat.
