I Am The Witness

The life of a 26-year old author, Aixela Louisiana Supresencia, was simple with her mother and sister who raised her. Aixela was orphaned early because of a mishap that caused her to meet the man who turned into her inspiration in writing her novels. This man is the one who saved her life. Aixela dreams of becoming a famous author like her late mother but the right time for her rise has not yet come so she just continues to write and take care of their family business where she met her boyfriend Louis. Her relationship with her boyfriend went well until it gradually cooled down and changed. One day she decided to visit the grave of her bereaved mother. She does it every year but unexpectedly, this visit will make a big difference in her life. On her way back to the airport, she accidentally witnessed a crime that caused her and Police Inspector John Dether Anton Dy Jr. to cross paths. Anton was the police officer who helped her when the culprit tried to chase her. He also provided a witness protection program to Aixela where they had to live under the same roof to guarantee her security. Anton has dreamed since he was a child to be a good detective like his late father and as he was preparing for his promotion test, he met Aixela which also caused him to change his outlook in life. The two did not get along well with each other at first, but later they became sympathetic to each other, especially when Anton helped Aixela to move on when she broke up with her long-term boyfriend who fooled her. Aixela, on the other hand, helped Anton prepare for his promotion test. The two became close to each other and investigated the case together. Along with the various trials they faced while resolving the case was the deepening of their feelings to each other until they discovered something.

Aixela's Pov:

We're now here in the grocery store. I am the one who's pushing the cart while he is the one putting the things in it. It seems like he already memorized the stations of the store and the number of things he needs to buy. Maybe he just buys the things he regularly uses and eats.

He was going to put a canned mushroom in the cart but I stopped him. He raised his eyebrow at me.

I showed him my note. [I am allergic to mushrooms.]

"And so? Are you the one who's going to eat it?" He asked.

[You're not living alone now so you should be sensitive about others' situations.] I showed him my note again and put back the canned mushroom.

I wrote something again and showed it to him. [I also have the right to choose what kind of food we will buy. Don't worry, I'll pay you.]

He smirked. "And where are you going to get money."

"I'll find a job," I showed him my note and a ring gesture. He laughed at me so I just grimaced.

We entered the dairy station and there he looked for something. His eyes widened when he saw the last set of yogurts. He looked like a child who's very eager to get that final stock until someone also held the last stock.

A woman, the same age as me, is trying to pull the set of yogurt from Anton but Anton pulls it as well. Both of them are fighting for a set of yogurt.

"Hey? I was the one who got it first!" The woman complained as she pulls the set.

"I was the one to see it first," Anton rebutted as he pulls the set as well.

"Hh? Don't you know the saying 'ladies first'? Or even the word 'gentleman'?" The woman scolded.

"All I know is that I saw this yogurt first."

"Oh gosh!" The woman laughed sarcastically. "Miss, how could you tolerate this kind of boyfriend? You must look for a new man now. Can you see how childish he is?"

I wagged my hands as if saying he's not my boyfriend and he'll never be.

They continue to fight for the yogurt so I just pulled Anton. He keeps on taking the yogurt so I bite his hand that causes him to let go of the set.

"Aish!" He faced me and gave me a triggering look.

He walked away so I followed him while pushing the cart. He doesn't even give me a glimpse. I think he's really mad. But, how can he be so childish? With just that yogurt?

I smirked involuntarily that's why he looked at me straight in the eye.

"Pay these and I'll start the car," He said and put the money in my hand.

Is he going to let me carry these kinds of stuff?

I grabbed his hand and put it on the pushcart. I signaled him to wait for me and I run toward the dairy station again. I can't believe there's really no yogurt left.

Ah, right! I know what to do!

I get some powdered milk and I also look for Yakult. I went back to our line where the cashier was already scanning some of our items.

"Where did you go? Why did you leave me here, huh? And what are those?" He scolded me.

I just grimaced at him and gave the powdered milk and Yakult to the cashier. We went straight home after buying the groceries. He said he's tired and he's going to sleep so I was left in the kitchen and of course, I should be the one to arrange the groceries.

"Is he annoyed because of the yogurt? How childish!" I grinned.

After I arranged the groceries, I prepared the ingredients that I'm going to use. Let's make that childish madman into happy kiddo again. Mwhahahaha!

"Music... On!" I said as I click the play button.

I combined 2 cups of powdered milk and 8 cups of water in a saucepan. Then heat the milk until the smoke comes out. After that, I let it cool first. I looked for a container to transfer the milk. Then, I slowly add the Yakult. Then I covered it and slightly tilt it to combine the ingredients. I leave it first in the kitchen and jive to the music. I have to wait for 12 hours for it to be ready so I prepared for our lunch first.

I was dancing and jiving to the music while putting the plates and utensils on the table until it stopped.

"What the he--" I didn't finish what I was about to say when I saw that madman who turned the music off.

"Oh, you're awake?" I greeted him.

"Even the dogs outside would not be able to sleep because of your noise," He ranted.

"Excuse me, most of the time, I am lip-syncing. Also, I am not using my full voice. I am still practicing being mute even we're here in the house", I bragged.

"So?" He asked and started to eat. I just rolled my eyes at him and started eating too.

"What's that?" He suddenly asked, pointing to the container I put on his bar counter.

"Secret," I giggled. He just shook his head and continued to eat.

Hmm, you'll know it later. I'm excited about your reaction!

Time passed quickly for me because I was focused on finding a job that I can do so I didn't realize it was already night. While I was searching for online jobs, I saw a video tutorial for sign language. I thought it would be good for me to learn this so that I would no longer write what I want to say on paper from time to time.

While I was busy learning sign language, Officer Dy was also busy studying. As far as I know, he is reviewing for his promotion test.

*knock knock knock*

"I'm sorry if I disturbed you. I already served our dinner. Let's eat," I said in front of his door.

"You go first. I'm not hungry yet," He replied.

"The food will get cold. Eat first," I convinced him.

"If you want, just go first. We don't have to eat together, do we?" He said.

Wow? I don't care if we eat together or not. I just want to see your reaction when I give you the yogurt you were crying about earlier. For sure, you will be surprised at me because of the taste.

"But--" I didn't finish what I was going to say because I thought maybe he was really focused on his review. "Ok, I'll just wait for you to finish that," I said and just sat on the sofa.

To make some things clear:

Dialogues inside a bracket mean it was written on paper, and dialogues inside a double-bracket mean it was acted using sign language.
