Chapter 2: Criminality

3rd pov

In Duloc City, which was currently undergoing renovations under Lord Farquaad's leadership, an operation was taking place in the eastern area, with one simple objective: End Crime.

In the East area of the City, there was a group of 30 armed criminals, they extorted money from people for "protection", in addition to robbing local business owners, but that would no longer exist.

Under Lord Farquaad's orders, the Captain of the Guard of Duloc and the best of his 150 men were attacking these criminals.

"Prepare Men! Lord Farquaad's Orders are clear: Leave only 5 survivors, finish off the rest of the Criminal Scum!" Declared the Captain of the Guard as he unsheathed his sword that was at his waist.

The Guards nodded their heads before drawing their weapons and advancing through the east area, intending to go to the criminals' base.

Joseph Pov

The Duloc's Guards must be already starting to attack the criminal base and ensure that there is order in the East Area, this will be better for both me and the people there, after all, nobody likes criminals.

The good thing here the only Existing Media should be in Far Far Away, so less chance of anyone bothering about "Innocent Lives" being massacred by "Guard Brutality".

I am now signing some important papers, all involving the rebuilding of Duloc, as well as taking the time to write down some of the things I know and intend to use to my advantage as much as possible.

In my past life, I was a fan of Explosive things, so of course I learned how to develop a little thing that would be useful for my plans...gunpowder.

In a world where people rely heavily on Swords or Spells, a troop-carrying muskets is enough to make people shiver in fear, and I'll make sure Duloc Monopolizes that fast.

While I may not know how to build a musket or cannon, that's the least of it, because by getting Gunpowder, we can fully focus on trying to create these marvels made by mankind.

I then hear a knock on the door and order to enter, I then see one of the Guards enter, he then bows to me before speaking.

"Mi'lord, the construction leaders want to speak with you" Said the Guard to me as he kept his head down.

"Let them in" I say as I stand I grab the ridiculous hat that was on my desk and place it on my head, I'll be honest, I didn't like that haircut and hat, not to mention the clothes.

I'll get a hairdresser and a tailor to help me with this problem later on, I already have some noble clothes ideas that would fit me well and make me look better.

Hmmm, maybe I'll popularize some clothing styles in Duloc, monopolize the market, and get some good money for myself, since I can't touch Duloc's Treasury, every coin there needs to be well spent.

I then see 2 men walk in, they both have beards, with one being black and the other man being blonde, muscular bodies that don't hide in their medieval clothes, their skin is white but in a healthy tone, a little tanned because of of the sun, besides they had on their waists some sacks and construction tools, besides, they were carrying some papers.

"Thank you for attend us, Mi'lord" Said the blond-bearded man as he bowed to me, the next was the black-bearded man.

"No problem, gentlemen, so why are you visiting?" I ask as I look calmly at the two of them.

"Mi'lord, we came to talk about the reconstruction of Duloc, we have with us the types of House and we would like you to choose one" Said the black-bearded man as he walked over to me and handed me the papers, which were actually blueprints.

I nodded and started reading the blueprints, there were several house styles I could choose from, which made me think seriously for a while before carefully choosing one of the blueprints.

"This one, I want this style for the houses" I say as I point to one of the Blueprints.

The Blueprint showed a house in the style of Germanic Architecture, I remember perfectly that it was this style of Architecture that was in Duloc in the 1st Shrek Film, which I'll be honest, it was quite beautiful.

The only thing I would change is the colors of Duloc, don't get me wrong, I thought the city was beautiful in the movie, but in my point of view it was very White and Blue, with no other colors, which I will definitely change, not create rainbows, but at least give more "life" to this city that I'm going to rule.

"Gentlemen, can you tell me how the construction of the Duloc Sewer System is going?" I ask as I look at the two men.

"Mi'lord, the construction of the Sewer System is going very well, while we had small unforeseen events before due to the delay in the delivery of some resources to Duloc, it did not delay the development much" The man with the blond beard replied to me.

"Hmmm, I see...anything else?" I ask, when I get a no from the two, I dismiss them, who bow to me before leaving.

Now alone again, I focused on signing the papers that I still had on my desk, but it was then that my eyes noticed something through one of my office windows, something that I also need to change.

Through the window, I could see Duloc, with a lot of construction going on, but I also saw some of Duloc's Banners, which weren't pretty at all.

The Flag of Duloc was horrible, being basically just a blue flag with an "f", it looked like I was using the Facebook Logo as the Symbol of Duloc.

That needed to change, needed to find a better banner, both for Duloc and for my Noble House who would be ruling these lands.

3rd pov

While Joseph was thinking about what he should do, in the East Area of Duloc the Operation done by the City Guard was finally over.

Most of the criminals were killed, with only 5 being spared, as ordered by Joseph, these 5 would be executed in the public square, to show everyone what happens to criminals, in addition to bringing justice to the victims.

"Captain, the criminals have already been tied up and placed in a carriage, they will be heading to the Dungeon as soon as possible" Said a Guard as he saluted the Captain, who nodded.

"Great, any casualties on our side?" asked the Captain as he crossed his arms.

"No Captain, just a few wounded, but they will recover quickly" replied the Guard

"Very well then, I will go to Lord Farquaad to inform him that the East Area of Duloc is free of Crime." Said the Captain as he went to a horse that was close by, mounting the animal and then leaving for Joseph's Castle.
