I’m straight I tell you! STRAIGHT!

Updates Mon/Fri, unless i’m fairly busy. In that case, I will only upload on either Mon or Fri. Jacob Trennings was your ordinary guy who was fairly content with his life. He had a loving wife, a happy family, and enough money to not have to truly worry when it came to possible future kids...or at least he thought he did. Hit with the largest betrayal of his life, Jacob wakes up in a body not of his own whose past is confusing at best, with memories that make absolutely no sense. The life of the new Evan Renelli is bound to be a whirlwind of events. His new family is suspicious at times and suddenly, he has to deal with not just an entirely new world that is so far removed from the one he lived in before, with similarities that seem realistic but really aren’t, but also magic, new races, and ...a mysterious man?!? Evan (Jacob): Hey wait a second!! I’m straight, stop chasing me!! ???: Hm?~ Yet you get so flustered around me, are you sure that you’re just “straight”. Evan: ...i’ll show you.. -credit towards the artist for the picture used-

Chapter 15: Time Goes By Fast

An entire month had passed since Evan's disastrous day at the town and it was mostly spent studying all there is to know as the old Evan began to skirt by in school once the depression really hit. Some days were longer than others, especially whenever he had to look at anything regarding literature. He may have enjoyed reading fantasy novels but having to read old literature simply bored him even if it was necessary.

The subject he enjoyed looking over most was both history and science as there were so many new things to really explore. Magic especially was his favorite as it was so exciting to learn and read about it.

He found comfort in knowing that mathematics was seemingly the same everywhere and he did wonder how that was possible, but didn't really want to think on it. Evan had books upon books laying around his room as he was able to find cheaper books in a second hand shop.

Evan was bound to leave for the capital of Sentil, Yula in order to fly over to Holu, which was located in Noar, the richest capital in all of Astoria. His family had been saving up over the last month in order to pay for his supplies and for his aircraft fare. He wasn't sure how his family paid for his tuition but he wouldn't ask.

He had been packing up as much as he could, bringing clothing, books, and other miscellaneous items he could find. One notable thing that happened within the Light month into Metal, which was his mother handing him a tiny bracelet meant to suppress his scent. Evan was allowed to show his ears and tail at the academy, but he needed a way to hide the fact that he was a hybrid.

It would be especially bad if the prince of Basteti found out as his family escaping persecution could mean a death sentence. If it weren't obvious already, all heirs will be attending the academy as well and despite not having any special treatments, no student would be foolish enough to piss off the heir of their kingdom.

With the bracelet, he would at least be more protected. His features also would not point him out, as there were plenty of white foxes in Basteti that were not apart of the Rene clan.

Evan dragged his suitcase out of his room and took one last glance behind him. He was going to miss the comfort of his home, but he felt like he owed it to the old Evan to pursue his dreams of attending the academy. Evan gently closed the door and made his way downstairs, where his mother and father were waiting for him. Like himself, his mother wore a sweater to hide her white hair. Though, it wasn't as necessary as his father, despite his gentle boisterous personality, he'd crush anyone who was mean to his family.

"Alright hun, we'll bring you to Yula, but we won't be flying with you to Holu. Your father and I will stay within the capital for a few days after you leave as a sort of vacation." His mother exclaimed, wanting to give him a good idea of what exactly would be happening. "On another note, we'll stay with you until you leave on the aircraft to Holu." She grabbed his hand and pulled him outside, allowing her husband to carry all of the bags.

Outside of their home was a long black vehicle that was reminiscent of a limo, but wasn't quite so. He wondered once again how his family managed to afford the vehicle as it was definitely luxury. He allowed his mother to led him into the car and sat next to her, letting his head fall on her shoulder.

The small gestures of affection really helped him with his depression of losing his other family because he was able to feel a connection he thought he'd never have again. His mother was gently rubbing circles on his hand when his dad popped into the backseat as well.

"Champ, ya look tired. Take a nap and we'll wake you up when we are there." His father softly said, well as softly as he could. He had a loud disposition, but did his best to be low when necessary.

"Mmk.." Evan had been nodding off anyways and with his dad simply telling him to sleep, he couldn't help it. As his eyes gently closed, he could hear soft whispers coming from both his parents and he wondered what they were talking about.

"I'm so proud of him." Noel said, happy her son was really coming into himself. He didn't stutter as much and was a lot more open to say the least. It was eye opening however, as she noticed he was far happier out of school than in it and seemed to thrive in isolation. It hurt knowing her baby most likely wasn't happy at school but at least now he could grow into the man she always knew he'd be.

"I'm proud as well, i'm just a bit worried. He may grow a bit taller but, he'll just always be cute and I don't want any creeps going near him." Torres sighed, wondering how he could protect his son from so far away. His son was always pretty shy but within the last month, it's as if a whole new personality sprouted out of him. Of course he was happy that his son was growing into himself, but a parent always worries. Evan would never be the toughest, tallest person in the room. He just wanted his son happy and safe. If he was being honest, he wanted his son to stay at home but, he could never restrict his son. He didn't deserve to live in fear as they once did, no his son deserved far better.

The rest of the car ride was silent as both parents listened to their own thoughts. They would arrive in Yula in a few hours and well, Evan would be in for a surprise.

Kinda struggled on this chapter honestly, especially at the end so sorry if it sounds sorta bad. I’ll make it up with the next chapter. 5 More chapters to go because we hit the second arc I believe, which is the academy! Magic time~

Next chapter is Yula and what it’s like.
