Chapter 18
Harry
"I can't believe it" Tyler said
I was cleaning the table top of the bar space where I serve drinks while Tyler sat on one of the stools working on his laptop.
In case you were wondering I got a new job as a bartender and a new apartment. The pay is really good too. In a night I could make like 80 dollars just from tips from girls who want to take me home for the night plus it's nothing illegal.
Tyler and I were talking about my mother by the way and how she unexpectedly showed up at my house.
"I'm still wondering how she knew where I live" I said confusedly
We haven't had contact in about a month. How come she knew my exact location without contacting me?
"Yeah, after kicking you out now she wants to stay with you"
"Don't remind me" I rolled my eyes
"Dude, don't you think all of this is crazy? Why was my dad in a hurry to make you leave?"
"Cause I'm a white boy who was a bad influence on their son and we wouldn't stay away from each other no matter how hard they tried"
"I think there's more to it. I have a theory"
"Which is?"
"I think my dad and your mom had an affair"
I laughed loudly thinking he was joking but then I saw he had a straight face on.
"Oh you're serious?"
"Yeah, why else?"
"So you're telling me that your dad, the most righteous person on earth or at least that's what he thinks he is, had an affair with my junkie of a mom?"
"Most likely"
"Then what? You think this is some telenovela classic where we find out your dad impregnated my mom and it turns out I'm your half brother? Come on man that's sick"
He shrugged
"Was just a thought"
"Besides your dad wouldn't want anything to do with my mom, she's an addict"
"She wasn't always that way. She lived in this town five years before you were born"
I sighed
"Please let this go. Its impossible"
"Fine"
"Let's talk about something else"
"Okay. How's your mom?"
"She actually looks pretty good. She claims she's sober now. She even apologized for all the things she's done to me"
The doorbell rang indicating someone had walked in. Amanda and her friends entered. I grinned widely at the sight of her. I didn't actually think she was gonna pull through but trust Amanda to never disappoint.
"Hey Tyler" Amanda greeted her brother "fancy seeing you here"
"Hey sis, hey Janet, hello Keisha"
"Hi Tyler" Keisha shyly replied, her cheeks reddened a bit. Yup she definitely likes him.
Amanda's eyes widened in fake surprise when she saw me
"Harry? You work here?" She asked feigning surprise very naturally.
"Yeah" I replied nonchalantly
"Well that's good"
I laughed silently. Not only should this girl consider modeling, she could pass as an actress too
"What brings you guys here?" Tyler asked
"Oh nothing" Amanda replied "just came to get a few drinks"
"Well I will see you at home. Keep an eye out for her Harry"
"Sure will" I said
He closed his laptop, said his goodbyes then left
"What can I get you girls?" I asked
"I didn't bring money" Janet said
"Its on me"
"Oooh sexy and sweet. I like it"
"Slut" Amanda mumbled
"Honey, jealousy doesn't look good on you" Keisha teased
"I don't drink Harry " Amanda said changing the subject "give me something sweet please"
"Sure, what about you guys?"
"Baileys for Keisha and I please" Janet said in a flirty tone obviously trying to piss Amanda off
Amanda rolled her eyes
I poured baileys in two glasses and some sweet wine in a glass
I handed it to each of them
"Thanks Harry" they said
Keisha and Janet went to the end of the room and found a booth to sit down
Amanda sat on the stool Tyler formerly sat in which is directly in front of me. I started cleaning glasses.
"So, Janet seems nice" I joked
"Not funny Harry" she frowned
"Aww you're so cute when you're jealous"
"I am not"
"Oh really? So you wouldn't mind if I go there and ask for her number"
"Okay fine. Don't do that"
I chuckled
"So what's up?" She asked
"Well my mom showed up at my house after you left last night"
"Whoa. What does she want?"
"To start over. She claims she's clean now"
"Is she going to be staying with you permanently?"
"Naah, she just came to get a little change of scenery"
"Wait. How did she know where you live?"
"Same question I asked her. She just shook it off"
"Wow"
"How's Jeremy?"
"Good, he can walk now. The injuries weren't too severe"
"Good to hear"
We continued in silence. I cleaned while she drank her wine and used her phone. I asked her to come here so I have to make it worth her while. Let me just finish cleaning up.
"Smile for the camera Harry"
I looked up. She was taking pictures on that Snapchat thingy girls use nowadays.
"So you can put that flower shit on my head? No thanks"
"Come on. It'll look really pretty with your hair"
"No"
"Rude"
She took the picture anyways.
She showed it to me. She was smiling, I was at the back putting my hands in my hair. I didn't even know when I did that.
Unexpected pictures really are the best
"I like it" she said "do you?"
"Yeah"
"I wanna post it on Instagram. What's your username?"
"Harrystyles"
"Alright"
A few minutes later my phone vibrated. I took it and opened it. I saw two notifications from Instagram
Amanda_ started following you
Amanda_ tagged you in a post
I opened it to see the picture we just took. I liked and commented '' on it then I followed her back
"So" she said "when can we finish our movie?"
She had a huge grin on her face
I smiled at the thought of lying on the couch all cuddled up with her
"Anytime you want to angel"
