After catching and eating the other three small flies, I heard the following messages:
-----------------------
> Small level 1 x3 flies were eaten.
> 45 Xp gained
> Promotion to Level 4.
> 60 XP is missing to the next level.
> + 2 to all statistics.
> 100% of the "Fly Wings" gene was obtained.
-------------------
--------
>Whether the host wants to add "fly's wings" to the used passive or category inactive passive skills.
-------
(Krius) - "Of course, add to used skills."
As soon as I gave the order. I felt a strange feeling on my back or abdomen or whatever it is called.
I felt a slight pain and a tingling sensation. First, there were swellings on my "back", like a bulge on a smooth surface. A pair of fly wings grew out of it, which now match the size of my current body. And so looking at the angle, they are longer than the length of my entire body.
When the wings fully unfolded. I felt the pain subside and a new feeling appeared. This specific feeling was very peculiar. Like another pair of legs. Only the range of moves is a bit different. Quite a peculiar feeling.
Now that I have wings, it's time to go in search of the next victim. Of course, remembering where I left my net.
I wanted to fly into the air, I tried to flap my wings as fast as possible. It took me a few minutes to tear myself away from the cobweb, and it was difficult. During rehearsals, I was constantly swaying from side to side. As for the flight itself, it was even more difficult. At first I turned around. Without my knowledge and with difficulty I leveled up. Balance was the most difficult task.
When I mastered the flight at a satisfactory level for me. With my cobweb under me for safety. I decided to fly deep into the forest. I flew ahead, looking around and constantly thinking about balance.
I passed many trees and bushes. The trees did not remind me of any rare species I would remember from my previous world. Some trees had different color palettes, and the leaves had quite specific shapes.
On the way I saw some really strange looking rabbits. Which had a pair of horns on their heads, similar to rhino horns, but much smaller. Naturally. They looked interesting, but I couldn't catch them or land on their backs. They were fast. I couldn't even get close enough for those rabbits to run away. So I saw no point in chasing them, so I decided to leave them alone and fly on.
After about thirty minutes, I found a clearing. The view was beautiful and majestic. In front of me was a huge clearing full of flowers and grass. A really rich range of colors, many species of plants with a more mystical character. Like a light blue flower giving off a kind of light blue glow. But most of all, I saw that a large river flows through these meadows. So naturally I thought I might find some interesting specimens or rather potential victims.
When I got to the bank of this river, I saw that a few meters further along the river bank. There was a white-blue fox catching some mouse-like creature. There was something odd about this fox, and I didn't mean its unique coloration. So I decided to fly over and check it out.
While healing, I had an idea, so having nothing to lose, I tested this idea.
(Krius) - "System, what is this creature I'm looking at?"
--------------
> This animal is: Blue Tailed Fox [Level 10] [Magic]
----------------
I'd like to catch him, but I don't know if I'll be able to get up. But the fact that it's magical intrigued me. In a rush of adrenaline and lack of common sense, I decided to get dangerously close to the fox and land on its back.
When I was close enough and the fox was busy attacking the mouse, I approached the fox's head. Unfortunately, as soon as I reached the fox's neck. The fox jumped back abruptly, did a rather strange pirouette in the air, and looked in my direction.
I don't know how he sensed me, but now I was in danger. The fox after a short observation, he tried to jump in my direction and catch me by jumping and attacking with his bark. He tried to eat me, or at least bite me.
He didn't catch me right away, so he felt threatened. I made violent dodges. He probably didn't understand the situation because I'm a spider with wings. What may be new and dangerous for him. Or maybe he senses it somehow. Are I a threat to him? I do not know.
The fact that caused me quite a fright was the fact that the claws on the fox's front paws began to heat up like metal. Before they were perfectly white, but after a while their color gradually began to change and the claws were now red.
Feeling threatened and unspeakable. I flew away from the fox as quickly as possible and hid in the grass several meters away. And I waited like that for several minutes, trying to calm myself down.
I don't know why, but when I flew back into the air, the fox was gone. And I looked several times to be sure
When I was calmer and saw no sign of a potential threat. I decided to see if that mouse that fox probably killed was still there.
And I was right. The little mouse was still there, but unfortunately not whole and definitely not alive. The mouse was bitten on the back, enough that the middle part of the back was probably eaten by the fox. The view itself was terrible. A mouse was cut in half and left to rot or be eaten by another creature. It's probably because of me.
But it was an opportunity. I can get DNA and food because I'm not sure if I need to eat, but I'll check later. We're collecting DNA now. Before, I had to eat four flies to get wings, but it's not a little fly, it's a mouse. Small mammal, rodent. It's better than a spider or a fly.
(Krius) - "System how many percent of genes can I get from this dead mouse."
------------
> The host may even receive all of the mouse's genes. However, the mouse dropped out was not killed by the Host. From this fact, there may be gaps in the genes or the percentage of genes acquired may be much lower. Than in the case of consuming the victim killed by the Host.
--------------
After listening to System, I decided to start consuming a mouse. Because I was a spider, and now I look at it, I was a big spider. Since I was the size of this mouse, it still took me half an hour to eat it. Fortunately, with the help of the venom, I was even able to eat bones. The venom was strong. Although it could have been something else. But something spilled over the body parts of the mouse when I ate them. But luckily it didn't destroy the collected genes. It was probably a biological consumption aid, something like saliva.
The mouse tasted terrible. It's like eating something old and moldy. Not good. But I hope it was worth it. As soon as I finished eating, I heard the voice of the system:
-------------
> Host, Consumed a Horned Mouse [Level 5]
Received:
>15XP
> Horned mouse body (The host acquires a mouse body consisting of a body and head) [gene 100% complete]
> Mouse Legs [100% Complete Gene]
> Mouse tail [75% complete gene]
> Mouse eyes [40% complete gene]
> Mouse teeth [100% complete gene]
> "Horned Mouse" Horns [100% complete gene] (Bony horns, similar in appearance to rhino horns from the host's previous world.)
> The evolution panel will appear in front of Hostme. Please wait.
-----------------------
After a moment, a translucent panel appeared in front of me. It presented a three-dimensional image of my present form. And around it were interesting empty fields, or empty squares.
Some were empty and some had something inside. They depicted miniature icons of individual parts of the body. Like the Fly's Wings I just recently acquired. And underneath the three-dimensional image of my current form. There was a table that listed the unused or incomplete genes obtained from the consumed victims. The incomplete ones were, for now, crossed out by a gray X running down the middle of the square thumbnails depicting an icon of an incomplete gene.
------------
> Here is the Evolution panel. As you can imagine, this serves to manually evolve your current form. Just make changes to the board. Then, with a simple thought, confirm the completion of the selection process for changes in the host body, and the system will make changes to the host's physical form.
--------------
I understand, now I'm analyzing and thinking about changes. Although there was nothing to think about. The choice was quite limited. So I decided to change "spider body" to "mouse body".
This body was a tad bigger and better in several respects. When I had a body base. The rest required a bit more thought. "Mouse eyes" didn't have the full gene pool, so I couldn't even use them. So I added "spider eyes" to the stance instead. Fortunately, they adapted to their current body size automatically. And it looked a bit scary. After all, a mouse with many eyes above its muzzle looked pretty scary. Then I also added "mouse teeth" and small "mouse legs" to help me close distances faster and bite my opponent easier.
What surprised me was that I could add "spider fangs" to the usual "mouse teeth". And finally combine them, and now there were two squares next to each other. And with the addition of "Spider Fangs", the 3D appearance of the jaw changed. And the mouse's teeth got a completely different structure and appearance. They now had like cracks on the crown or something, it's hard to describe.
As for the spider legs, I decided not to add them for now. Finally, I added "horned mouse horns" which were positioned above the scary eyes.
The tip of the horn visually seemed sharp, so it's a good patent for attack and defense. And just like with "Mouse Teeth", I decided to add "Spider Fangs" next to the "Horned Mouse Legs" and "Horned Mouse Horns" segments. I also decided that there will be bristles at the base of the feet that will allow you to grip and walk on any surface.
Finally, I added a gland that allows me to shoot webs. So I placed it in the wrists of the forelegs. I used to like Spiderman comics, but oh well. It is possible, although it can be embarrassing to use them, but something contrived. And now, really, finally. I added "Fly Wings", which, like "Spider Eyes", adapted to the shape and aerodynamics of the new body.
When I had finished choosing, the individual elements of my new body. I briefly informed the system about the completion and work. And I nervously tried to close my eyes, but I had no eyelids. So I was just waiting for the process to start.
When I suddenly felt an incredible pain. I could literally feel every bit of my body changing, and it was awful. I literally felt like organs, skin, everything tearing apart and turning into something completely different.
However, when the pain subsided and I opened my eyes, I felt strange. The sudden change in the physiology and structure of my body meant that I suddenly lost and gained many new ranges of motion and possibilities. The fact of having a tail was also strange. However, I still felt as if the new body was boiling from the inside out. And it slowly regained its stability.
I decided to check the final effect, because the three-dimensional image in the panel. It did not show colors, and the view of my new form in a natural way. Should give me a better picture.
So when I approached the river to see my new form. I was scared. I look like some kind of monster. Mouse, spider and fly hybrid. I looked terrible. You have chosen a little gray mouse. Replace her eyes with spider eyes. Add scary teeth. Add small rhino horns. And a few fly wings sprouting from the back. In other words, a little monster.
I couldn't look at myself anymore and flew along the river in search of another victim. Thinking what I've become now.
Next chapter corrected. I hope you like the new version. And if you're reading it for the first time, I hope you'll like my book.
