Chapter 13: Family meeting

Mark's POV

I can't believe I married my dream girl even though it's under certain circumstances. I am glad dad made this decision for us to get married. I do not think I would have had the guts to ask her to marry me after what that prick did to her.

When I kissed her I felt my body relax and my mind be at peace, it's as if I can just absorb her into my body. Every time I touched her I felt at peace.

I guess my head was preoccupied with Celia and Tim's betrayal for me to notice this feeling. Her face is glowing with extra redness on her chicks. Her eyes are sparkling like jewels.

"I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. Mark Statton." Uncle Mathew said and I hold her hand in mine and we walk towards the side garden and our family congratulates us.

We arrive there and I find tables arranged and decorated similar to how the back garden was decorated. I look at her and she is marvelled by what she sees. The lights look like fire flies. This place looks as dazzling as the bride.

We go to the main seat and our family follows. I know that mom is good at organising events but this is out of this world. This wedding turned out to be great. While listening to Lilly's dad making his speech, I am wondering if she will allow me to sleep in the bed as her since we never touched the subject.

After the ceremony uncle Matt leaves with his family and the rest of us went to the lounge to have some drinks. Soon after nanny May and Grandma Sue went to their place to sleep.

Dad then calls us to the study. "Everyone, I believe that we need to solve Mark's problem as a family." My dad said. "Lilly and I can handle it dad you don't have to involve the whole family." I said trying to defend my pride in front of my new in-laws.

"I know you can handle it but this is bigger than you think. Celia and Tim are in the dark and need to be dealt with as soon as possible but with Jack it will take all our effort combined to suppress him. He has been against me from a long time ago and since he could not win against me he targeted you."

"You mean you know each other personally?" I asked looking at him and mom responded: "Yes dear, this is really bigger than you can imagine." "How is it bigger?" Nelly and Ron asked at the same time.

"Well, your dad and Jack were business partners till Jack betrayed your dad. He invested in his private company using our company's funds and when your dad found out his company was already strong.

He already established his own company and the one he had with your dad went bankrupt. So instead of saving it, your dad sold it and paid off most debts then decided to start his own company from a different field. Jack focused on electronics while we focused on winery.

This way we won't clash with each other. That's why your dad was not happy when you went to electronics but we are happy that you are doing good." Mom explained.

"When we started to export our wines, he tried to sabotage us. It took us a while to figure out that he was behind all the setbacks we had. He somehow managed to put his people in our management team. After finding those people and firing them, your dad confronted him demanding an explanation.

"What did he say? What was his reason?" I asked looking at him a bit confused. "Me." Mom answered and everyone looked at her still confused.

"He had a one sided love for me and was not aware that your dad and I were already married. He wanted me to leave your dad for him even after finding out about our marriage. I refused and that's why he has harboured hatred for us.

Since he could not have me, he decided to destroy everything we did. He tried and failed on us that is why now he put all his efforts on destroying you and he knows that it will affect us."

She finishes her speech and we are all left stunned. "So you see son, it involves all of us. This time we have to destroy him without leaving him a chance to recover. I do not want my grand children to suffer from his hands as well. So Ron, Nelly you have to do a thorough background check on all your friends especially those seem too close to you recently." Dad finishes.

We stay a while in the study and strategise on how to proceed and what each of us will do. Lilly's parents we also in on this. Before we all went to bed, dad told Lilly and I to go on our honeymoon for a month.

Three weeks after coming back from our honeymoon, we go and see Doctor Ross. Jay has been holding down the fort for me. Everyone at the company thinks I went to 'China' for business but I was actually in France.

"How are you feeling Lydia?" The Doctor asked. "I feel tired and sleepy recently." The Doctor smiles. "Looks like the procedure went well.

Let's go to the exam room and check what's going on. Lilly laid on the bed and the doctor smeared some clear stuff on her belly and she flinches. "Cold" She explains.

Doctor Ross moves some kind device on her belly and indicates for us to look at the monitor. I am just lost as I only see black and white there; I have no idea what I am looking at.

" Wow! you guys quit lucky. You actually managed to get multiples at a go." As she spoke I am still clueless at what she is saying.

"One, Two, Three." She says that while pointing at some dots on the screen. "You see these dots?" She continues, "These are your kids. You are having triplets, congratulations." She says that while handing me a printout of the scan.

"That's our kid's first picture." I hear Lilly say with a joyful voice. After cleaning up, we head home as I cannot wait to celebrate. I send the picture to the family whatsapp group and mute the phone at once.
