HOW DID I BECOME THE SYSTEM!?

Stella, a seemingly average girl with a remarkable resemblance to a certain tomboy anime girl, dies during an attack on her school protecting her class. However, instead of seeing the pearly gates, she finds herself on trial for crimes committed against the gods in a past life. The verdict is not what she expected... Warning, the beginning isn't too good since it's just me letting my imagination run wild but two chapters in, the quality picks up.

Interlude (Revised)

| Aizawa P.O.V, Night After The Quirk Assessment Test |

It was cloudy moonlit late night when Aizawa Shoto, the pro hero Eraser Head, was on his nightly patrol after another day of teaching. So far everything was quiet, as in there were no large-scale villain attacks or fights he had to participate in tonight. There were a few muggings and attempted robberies but nothing that required him to exert himself too much. A perfect night in Aizawa's opinion.

At least until he heard the screams. He was a few rooftops away from the source but was able to get there before they died down. What he saw there was not what he expected.

"Please! I'll do anything just let me go! I promise I'll turn over a new leaf, become a new me!" In a dark alley that would be devoid of any light if not for the street lamp at the entrance, was a man in civilian attire who looked to be in his mid to late thirties on his hands and knees begging... a wall?

Aizawa was confused about what was going on and almost assumed the man was drunk until he saw it. No them. White misty eyes filled with glowing white light in front of the man who was begging. Aizawa didn't need a clearer view of who owned the mysterious eyes to know who they belonged to. After all, every hero in the world had least heard of the owner of those eyes since hundreds of disappearances worldwide were linked to them.

As if the world wanted to confirm his suspicions, the cloudy dark sky parted and the moon bathed the alley in its light. When Aizawa saw the shadowy dark form attached to those glowing white eyes he knew for a fact, that he was staring right at Umbra. One of the two most wanted and infamous children in the world. He looked every bit as creepy as the news pictures showed him to be.

"Save...me....help...me," Umbra asked in a low and monotone voice that was hard for Aizawa to hear from on the roof.

The man who was begging until now thought that he was being thrown a lifeline so he quickly agreed to help Umbra. "Y-yes! I can help you with anything you need. Just say the word!" The poor fool.

Umbra tilted its head in what would look like a cute gesture if a wide, crooked, and vicious smile hadn't appeared on its face. The way Umbra looked made Aizawa's skin crawl. The pro hero felt he needed to get down there as fast as he could and save the man right now, but he couldn't bring his body to move no matter how much he tried.

Then Umbra's face started to split open and the bad feeling he was getting earlier started to intensify. The shadow boy's mouth stretched further and further open than any normal human should be capable of. Aizawa half expected the boy to try and eat the man with how much he was widening his mouth, and in a way he was right. At the sight of the gaping maw of Umbra, the man had gone silent for a few seconds before he started screaming in agony as wispy tendrils of shadow came from the man's body and flowed into the mouth of the Umbra. The screaming continued for a few seconds until what Aizawa could only describe as a spirit started being pulled from the man's body and toward the maw of Umbra.

Let it be known that Shota Aizawa didn't think he had seen everything the world had to offer. However, he had seen many things in his career as a pro hero, from city-ending disasters to power high villains, corrupt heroes, and honest-to-god kaiju that came to be when a villain organization somehow unlocked an animal's quirk. Through all those events he managed to maintain a certain level of pragmatism and rationality. After all, what was Shoto Aizawa if not rational? But when he saw a man get his soul dragged out of his body by a demonic shadow child he felt all his calmness, pragmatism, and rationality jump off a cliff and die in a fire. Where was the rationality in someone having their soul dragged out of their body? He knew quirks were bullshit, but a quirk should not be able to do that.

As the spirit of the man was being dragged into the maw of Umbra, Aizawa continued to try and move to save the man but couldn't. Not because of fear or any other emotion but from what he guessed was the Umbra's quirk. He hadnt have used his quirk already because Umbra was a mutant-type quirk so his quirk erasure didn't work on him. But Aizawa would be dammed if he didn't least try,

Aizawa focused his eyes on Umbra and activated his quirk but as he expected, it didn't have any effect on the shadow boys' power. As Aizawa was silently struggling to move his limbs, Umbra had finally swallowed the man's spirit and closed his mouth. It was now that the pro hero could finally feel his body respond to his will.

"Thank you for the meal," Umbra said as the man's body went limp and hit the floor.

Wasting no time figuring out a plan of attack, Aizawa quickly pulled out his work phone and sent a request for backup to the police while dropping down from the roof into the alley. When he hit the floor, Aizawa immediately ensnared Umbra from head to toe with his capture tool and hung him upside down from the nearby fire escape ladder. The pro hero watched for any sudden movements or struggle from Umbra. When he saw none, he kneeled down next to the victim of Umbra's attack to check his pulse, expecting there to be none. To Aizawa's surprise, the man was alive. Which, in a fucked up kind of way, made no sense to him.

"Sir, are you ok," Aizawa asked calmly but there was no response. The man lay flat on the floor like a corpse. He looked physically fine but he didn't respond to any sort of stimuli. "Shit," the hero cursed while pulling out his phone and requesting an ambulance to his position.

Around five minutes later, a police cruiser and an ambulance arrived on the scene near the same time. The cops asked what happened while EMTs immediately got to work on Umbra's victim and asked Aizawa about the situation.

"To start off, I apprehended and restrained UmbraI about five minutes before you arrived," Aizawa started but almost stopped when he saw the dismissive look the cops had on their faces at the news of a wanted world-famous fugitive being captured but continued on by answering the EMTs question. "Don't know what happened to him" Aizawa pointed at the victim, "All I saw was Umbra dragged something that looked like a spirit out of his body and then he became like this,"

The police and paramedics looked...resigned at the news.

"Dammit," One of the cops said before sighing. "Use this to check his eyes," the cop ordered an EMT while tossing his flashlight to one of them.

When the EMT opened the victim's eyes they saw normal dark eyes a regular Japanese person would have. This changed when the flashlight was shined directly at the victim's eyes. As if the ink was spilled into the man's eyes, pitch-black spread across the eyes and consumed them in their entirety. No longer were their sclera and pupils, only all-consuming darkness.

"Yep, another Consumed," an officer said casually. "At least we have the body, usually Umbra takes those too."

While Aizawa visibly recoiled at the sight, the EMTs and Police did not. Their lack of reaction to the phenomenon told Aizawa seeing a "Consumed" wasn't anything new to them. It rubbed him the wrong way since he, as a hero, should have heard of this by now via the news, the Internet, or the Hero Public Safety Commission, but he hadn't. He briefly wondered if the information on the victims of Umbra was being suppressed and decided to investigate this later. Right now he had a wanted fugitive in need of detainment.

"We're wasting time. I have Umbra captured right now. We need to secure him before he starts struggling to get out of my binds," Aizawa ordered but it seemed the officers decided to ignore him because they were getting back into their cruisers as the EMTs took their time to load the victim into the ambulance. "Didn't you hear me? We have a villain to detain."

"No, you don't." The cop said dismissively. His face had a look one would wear when one accepted the futility of their actions. "Look Eraser Head, there's a reason Umbra and Lux haven't been captured even though they're wanted all around the world. Wanna know why? Here's a hint, they teleport." Then the cops drove off down the road to perform some other duty for tonight.

After a little while so did the Ambulance, leaving Aizawa alone with the captured villain. He stared at the cocoon that was made out of his capture weapon for a few seconds before using a gesture to unravel his capture weapon. What he saw made him sigh in annoyance and a bit of relief. The capture weapon was empty.

"I don't get paid enough for this shit."

| All Might P.O.V, Day-After Entrance Exam |

Toshinori Yagi, also known as All Might, the No. 1 Pro Hero who bore the title of the world's Symbol of Peace, and was also the eighth holder of the One For All Quirk. Was currently having a bad day. Scratch that a bad week. No, year!

All because of Revenant, the boogeyman of the underworld and murderer of his mentor, Nana Shimura. Ever since the day he was forced to flee the country to train. Toshinori had wanted revenge on the murder machine. Every waking hour of the day he spent training to master his power, it was to defeat it. Every time he defeated a villain, he imagined the cold steel face of his master's killer on their faces. Everywhere he traveled around the world it was to look for the simulacrum.

But he never found anything but its name. No clues on who built the machine, no leads on where to find it, or even a reason why it killed his mentor. Only speculations and ghost stories. But he never gave up, his thirst for revenge too great to die out through time. The hatred and anger he held for the machine was like a wildfire that wouldn't stop burning. He knew his teacher wouldn't approve of him trying to take revenge for her but he couldn't, no, wouldn't stop. Somebody, something, had to pay for his mentor's death.

As the years went by and his money and influence as the number one hero grew, he used them to keep searching for Revenant, and after years of finding nothing but blurry pictures and old sightings of the machine, he was contacted by an underground informant named Crypto. The informant wanted to trade the information on Revenant in exchange for the number one hero's help in a future endeavor.

All Might was very reluctant to accept the deal from the informant but after years of nothing turning up on the target of his revenge, he accepted the deal regardless of his misgivings. And when the informant sent him the information they had on Revenant, he became very glad that he did. The info he revied on the revenant was like a holy grail to Toshinori. Abilities, armor, its different appearances, its first and most recent appearances, and one of the most important things to Toshinori, who made it.

According to the informant, Information on Revenant creators was minuscule at best. All they could provide was that Revenant was made by a villain organization comprised of morally loose scientists and engineers called the Ayirodim and that they were operating mainly in Musutafu Japan.

It was thanks to the information he received that All Might had flown to Dubai and stopped the assassination of an important political figure during a party. It was also thanks to the information that he was able to find the machine in Musutafu when it had escaped him in Dubai. With the help of a friend in he knew in the police force, All Might had found Revenant in Musutafu and he was a hair breathe away from capturing the machine but had to let it go when a villain made of sludge was attempting to take over the body of a young boy with red wings and he was the only one who could stop it.

After that, Revenant completely fell off the grid. No amount of searching had turned anything up. He had even contacted the informant who had given him the information he used to find Revenant and even they had no idea where the machine was. So with no idea how to find the machine, Toshinori decided to find the men behind it. But that turned out to be even harder than finding Revenant. The informant who helped him before said they had already told him everything they knew about the organization and when he approached other informants about it, they either never got back to him or claimed it didn't exist. When informants were no help, he went to the smartest and most well-connected individual he knew, Nezu. However, Nezu hadn't gotten back to him about it yet.

Just when it seemed all routes led to a dead-end, Principal Nezu had contacted him. At first, All Might thought the mouse-bear-rat-thing was going to tell him to stop chasing boogeymen and teach the new generation of heroes at U.A again. However, the principal defied his expectation.

"Yagi," the voice of principal Nezu called excitedly through the phone."You are going to want this teacher's job now because I have a lead. And no, not on Revenant but on Ayirodim."

At the time of the call, Toshinori had just gotten ready for a full day of hero work and was taking a step out his suite door until he heard the name of the villain organization. With as much speed as he could use without breaking his phone, All Might turned the encryption app on his phone on and closed his suite door before continuing his conversation with the principal.

"Really? Great! What do we have so far?" All Might be asked seriously.

"A name, Izuku Midoriya," Nezu responded cheerfully. A second later, a new notification appeared on All Might's phone with information on Izuku Midoriya.

All Might looked through the information at speeds impossible for a normal human and when he was done he became confused. "I don't see how this kid is related to Ayirodim."

Nezu snickered over the call at that. "Do you remember Evolve?"

"Yeah," All Might responds while straining his mind to remember details of the villain group. "They were that really old villain group that created the Kaiju incident and you. But what about them? They've been quiet for years now."

"Did I ever tell you the name of the man who made me?" Nezu asked, seemingly ignoring what Toshinori said.

"No, you didn't," All Might answered.

"Hisashi Midoriya." Nezu stated.

All Might remembers the parent section of Izuku Midoriya's file having the name Hisashi Midoriya there but thinks it was a leap in logic to assume both were the same. However, Nezu didn't make leaps in logic, he made calculated decisions and was one of the smartest beings on the planet. So All Might trusted him. "Ok, but how does this relate to Ayirodim?"

Nezu sighed in disappointment for a reason All Might didn't know. "Yagi, spell Ayirodim backward."

"M-I-D-O-R- Oohh!" All Might shouted, finally picking up on what Nezu was trying to say. "I get it! You think Ayirodim was created by an ex-scientist of Evolve and that the leader of the organization is young Izuku's father."

"Yes," Nezu agreed jovially. "My theory was became even stronger when I tried to find the whereabouts of Mr. Midoriya's father only for my search for him to come up empty. Hisashi is completely off the grid."

All Might's signature smile grew even wider on his face. "Great, then I know who to question. I'll contact the mother now. Than-"

"NO!" Nezu shouted over the phone. "If you just charge in there and start asking questions, you could put the boy and his mother at risk. They may be Hisashi's wife and kid but the man would do anything to further his goals. Even killing his family." All Might gulped at that. "We need to take this slow and indirectly so nobody gets hurt."

"I suppose this is the part where I take the job of teaching people," All Might asked rhetorically.

"Yes," Nezu answered. "I've been inviting you to teach here for a while now and your at the age most heroes slow down. It shouldn't look suspicious to Hisashi if he's watching, for you decided to take the teacher job now since it isn't confirmed where or not Midoriya will get into U.A yet. Once you're a teacher, you'll have plenty of non-suspect opportunities to get more information on Hisashi from either Modirya's. So Yagi... Are you in?"

Decided the interlude was too short for my taste and rewrote it. Added more plot stuff that will make writing the USJ arc way easier to write without info-dumping. It's still coming out this week btw so don't worry about this chapter delaying it.
