chapter ten: foodie
April patted Alya's hair continuously as she slowly drifted into sleep. When she was sure she had fallen deeply into sleep, she gently placed her head on the pillow and stood up.
She left a note on Alya's drawer saying she was going to meet Landon and would be back later in the day.
She picked her car keys from the table and drove off to Rex's company.
April got out of the elevator on the sixth floor and walked into a large room between two huge doors, the room looked more like a mini bedroom.
There was a bed, drawers, mini closet and a dining set April was just seeing and she gaped looking at the round table.
The two friends dining to their meal on the table turned.
" Hey darling " Landon greeted and winked at her
" Hello " Rex drawled waving at her
" Is this some kinda... Feast? " She asked obviously surprised at the meal set around table.
She looked at the two of them before turned her gaze back to the whole baked chicken at the center of the table.
Rex and Landon smiled at each other
" We just want to enjoy ourselves " Landon said
" Come sit baby " he said pulling out a chair for her
" You looked two faced, what's up? " He asked
" Two faced? " April asked
" Yeah, kinda happy and sad "
April smiled, he was right.
She was happy but she wasn't sad though
It was something else
She was.... She couldn't even understand the emotion. She dropped the thought and sighed
" Everything is okay, it's just Alya... "
" What's with her? " Rex who had been watching his friend urging her to talk interrupted.
" No, she's.. she's fine, it's just... " She paused, how was she even to explain it
She looked at Rex as the matter concerned him more.
" She had a blurred recall of her memory this morning... The lost ones " she said
Rex kept his gaze on her with a nonchalant expression then slowly turned to his food
He took a fork of his pasta " And...? " He asked
" Nothing more "
" You said blurred " Landon pointed out, he wanted saying how good of a news it was before pausing to think about her words.
" Yeah " April nodded
" That means.. " Landon trailed off as he turned to Rex just in time to meet his gaze. He gave an apologetic smile and Rex's lips curved in a slight smile.
" You bought a diamond chain which bore her name right? " April asked
" Yeah "
" That was what triggered the memory " April explained to them
Rex looked on " seems she's recovering already "
" Yeah buddy, soon she will fully " Landon said and Rex nodded
" But I wonder her reaction, she might be like ' Christ! What a joke ' and then laugh " Rex said trying to lighten the mood.
" After having this horrific expression on her face "
They all laughed at the way he tried mimicking her voice.
" Oh jeez, I am starving " April said
" We have everything you would love to eat " Landon said and stood up to open the dishes
" We have fresh salmon with Thai noodle salad "
" Roasted caulibroc "
" Lime prawn pitta salad "
" Spinach falafel "
" Steak sandwich "
" Egg roll balls "
" Creamy white chicken and spinach lasagna
" Buddha bowls..."
" Wait " April interrupted him
" Did I perhaps just hear you say..
Creamy white chicken and spinach lasagna? " She asked, standing up and picking an empty dish.
Landon laughed within himself at her choice of words to ask a question. He knew that was one of her favorite meal.
Landon's eyes flew wide when April sat herself down to a full bowl of her meal.
" All of that? " He asked astonished
" Shhhh, just shut up " April said
" You both won't even eat up to half of all this "
Landon sat back into his chair with an amused face as she served herself a bowl of prawn salad and toasted caulibroc. He watched the way she was eating with interest.
She sure was starving, he chuckled lowly
" You want some? " He asked as he picked up the egg roll balls, April nodded and scooped Thai noodle salad and the fish. She ate hungrily forgetting all eating etiquettes.
Landon poured in two glasses of wine for her and silently munch on his chicken as he looked at her.
" These? " He asked picking up the dish of Buddha bowls but to his surprise, April shook her head quickly.
" Anymore and I'm sure to throw up " she said rubbing her stomach as she leaned more into the chair.
She had taken two bowls of three meals each, a big loaf of steak sandwich, ice cream cake, two glasses of strawberry smoothie and had eaten half of the chicken with Landon.
She couldn't do more or she'll go running for the toilet, she looked at Landon's bemused face and cursed silently at them.
She wasn't such a foodie but they had almost all of her favorites and she couldn't help but eat.
Rex sat at the cushion far away from the couple at the dining table, his mind was huddled and he sighed as he sipped his wine.
Alya was his everything even if he was still close to her, he couldn't help but feel pained at the stranger she had felt of him.
He knew even if they got so close as to dating, he would still pray for her to recover her memory.
That was the Alya he wants, he didn't know if he was thinking things but he thought she had also changed after the coma.
He breathed out once again and looked over at the dining table and was shocked.
They had done a great job reducing the meal that would've been fed to the dogs. He chuckled.

" Are you sure you're gonna be okay? " April asked Alya over the phone on her way home with Landon.
" Sure " Alya replied
" I can come over to follow you " April said
" No, no, don't worry about me "
" Follow your boyfriend home and make up for all your absence " Alya said and chuckled.
" You are getting influenced, aren't you? " April asked giggling
" I think so " Alya replied and they both burst out laughing.
" Okay, gotta go now, take care good care of my brother " Alya said before hanging up.
" Where is she going to? " Landon asked not taking his eyes off the road
" Cassie invited her for a sleepover since her boyfriend wasn't home "
" More like a girls night, you're not going? " He asked
" She asked me not to "
" That I should spend time with you " April said
Landon smiled " she's so sweet " He complimented
" Oh she is? " April asked with a roll of her eyes and Landon chuckled
" You're jealous of your best friend? " He asked
" She gets most of the compliments " she complained
" Oh you admit you're jealous? "
" Well, she isn't as crazy as you are " he muttered the last piece and April frowned at him
" I am not jealous, she is the sweetest " she agreed
" And you are my most sweetest " Landon said gripping her hand
" Seriously Landon, I've never come across such a word in any dictionary " she said with humor and they both laughed.
Landon turned in the light switch and they walked into the house.
" Where is the butler and other servants? " April asked looking around the huge sitting room.
" Hope you didn't fire them? "
" Oh no, they are diligent helps "
" I only gave them few weeks off to have the house to our selves "
" And what if I couldn't make it here for those weeks? " April asked
" I know you will, the only place you would be if not here is with Alya and she allowed you to come here "
April frowned at his words
" Why does this sound like a plan? "
Landon smiled, she was very smart as she was crazy
" Excuse me? " April called to him and he looked at her
Did he say that aloud?
Judging by the look on her face, she was waiting for an answer not glaring at him.
" Yeah, she brought the idea, not me " he raised up his hands in defense.
April laughed and walked into the room
Phew! Landon thought he was going to have to face her craziness alone.
He walked into the room to see her going to have a shower. He dropped the bags and peeled off his shirt before going to the kitchen.
He walked back into the bedroom with a tray of warm coffee and sandwiches.
Alya sat on the bed drying her hair when he walked in
" Hope that isn't for me? " She asked
" Why? You don't want to have dinner? " He asked and April never failed to notice the sarcasm in his voice
She rolled her eyes at him
" I don't want to get fat"
Now it was Landon who rolled his eyes
" You would have gotten very fat a long time ago if you were to " he said
" You want to go after those slimmer shameless sluts, don't you? Well sorry, I am not getting fat "
Landon's brows pulled together as he wondered where she was driving to
" What do you mean? " He asked pulling the chair by his reading desk to her and sat down.
" Didn't you say you can't wait for me to get fat so you can use that as an excuse to go after slimmer ladies? " April asked
Seeing the confusion on his face, she sighed dropping her hands from her hair after tying it.
" Oh please,do get fat. I would be able to have my ways with the slim ladies as that would be the only difference between you and them, does that ring any bells? " She asked reminding him of his own words
Landon ran his hand in his hair as he laughed and April joined him too
" Sweet jeez, seriously babe? " He asked amused.
He remembered that night when they had all gone out for dinner and she kept stuffing herself with too much sweets.
Alya had tried to stop her saying she would be fat and he begged for her to continue.
That was months before Alya's accident and she still remembered that.
" Fat or not fat, you will always be my sun shine " Landon said pulling her up with a hand and he helped her to his lap.
April pecked his cheeks and dropped the tray on her lap and fed him after which she went to the kitchen to wash the dishes and went back to the room.
Pulling her closer to him, Landon bit her earlobes making her stop talking.
" It's getting late, sleep sweetie " he whispered. April smiled and snuggled closely to him and he pulled the sheets over their faces
