chapter eleven: Green with envy
Rex's hands tightened on the wheel as he steered into a traffic on the highway.
He was obviously in deep thoughts as he furrowed his brows keeping his gaze intently on the road
" I am going to sack Helena immediately after the board meeting " Rex said dryly.
Landon whipped his gaze to him
" Why? " He asked
Rex looked at him his eyebrows pinching together
" I didn't expect you will ask that when you clearly know why " He answered plainly.
" You and I know best what her Dad... "
Rex grunted and clenched his fist on the wheel
" I don't care anymore " he gritted his teeth
Landon sighed " And other share holders? " He asked
" I am serious Lan, I don't really care what any of them says " Rex said clearly showing his resolve
" As the co- CEO, I care "
" You know her father play a huge role in the development of R- BLAZONZ "
" Exactly, just exactly that's it " Rex said trying not to rile up

" Her father is a wealthy notable man, she can easily be C. E. O of two or more companies "
" But no, she had come all here to be a director and a fucking pain in the ass "
" I know what you mean and I know you are right but just don't give her the letter not now " Landon said
" Till when? " Rex asked desperately
" A week " Landon replied trying to sound convincing.
He watched as Rex jaw clenched as he steered away from an incoming car.
He knew the reason he was sacking Helena wasn't just because of her clinginess towards him.
Her father being one of the most influenced shareholders had started to take control over them.
He made most decisions and finalize it without waiting for their decisions.
He was trying to play the master game in their partnership which irked Rex. He wasn't the type who enjoyed someone ordering him how to do his work
" But do you already have who you want to hand that position to? " Landon asked and his eyes never failed to notice the smirk on Rex's face.
" Yeah, the perfect " he smiled
Landon narrowed his eyes, Rex saying perfect to someone recommended was very rare.
" And who is the ' perfect ' somebody you are talking about? " Landon asked after seconds of silence.
The car screeched to a halt in their garage, a smile was plastered on Rex's face taking his sweet time to answer.
" Alya " he said and came out of the car.
" No way " Landon protested following suit.
" What do you mean by that? " Rex asked.
" Weren't you the one complaining about the loads of work she had to do? "
" Now you are trying to give her another work "
" Being a director isn't easy, you know that yourself "
Rex rubbed his temple when they got into the elevator.
" Who said she'll be working? " He muttered but Landon heard him
" Huh? "
" Don't worry Lan, I know what I am doing, okay? "
Landon silently settled his hawk like eyes on his friend then slowly shook his head.
They got out of the elevator into Rex's office and Landon left for his office.
Shortly after, a knock came on Rex's office
" Come in "
" Good morning sir " it was his secretary, Karla
" Good morning Karla "
" These are your schedules sir " she said dropping some files on his table
" A meeting with the board of directors "
" Another with tai wan enterprises, that would be by 1:00 sir "
" And these is a partnership proposal from Diamønds "
" Give that to Landon "
" I've gone through many business proposal in your absence, deal with that " the voice came from the door, it was Landon
Rex chuckled, " Like I've been playing around all those while "
" You can go Karla " Landon dismissed her.
He sat down on a cushion with a file in his hands.
" Mr. Charles signed the partnership with I-Global yesterday, I was just given the file now "
" You knew nothing about the proposal before? " Rex asked and Landon shook his head
" Tch.. "
Rex cursed under his breath and stood up
" Where are you going to? " Landon asked
" Board meeting " he replied and went out.
The directors were all seated when he and Landon made their presence into the room and everywhere went silent.
Rex sat down at the end of the long table Landon sat at the other end.
Once comfortably seated, the meeting started, Rex kept a long poker face and said nothing but listen while Landon did all the talking.
Some directors wondered why he came down to the meeting when he had nothing to say to them.
Rex watched impressed with the way Landon addressed the meeting. He hadn't made Landon co- CEO because he was his friend. He deserved it
Where Rex knew how to bring up good ideas, Landon had the best ways to strategize them.
The meeting ended two and half hours later and they all left the boardroom.
" Good morning Mr. Rex " Helena greeted flashing a bright smile. He had ask her to meet him in his office and she had came running straight and met him at his secretary desk with Landon
" What got you carried away in the meeting? " Rex asked without replying to her greetings.
Helena face flushed red with embarrassment
He was scolding her in front of that petite ashen secretary of his and he was not even looking at her as he spoke. How rude! She tsked.
She was a very proud woman and spoilt too. Not wanting to look defeated, she held her head up high and open her mouth to speak..
" It's only shows how mannerless you are " Rex said very flatly
Helena:". . .!"
Shock registered on her face at how plain Rex had spoken to her
" Fix that prude behavior of yours or else... " Rex phone rang and he abruptly stopped talking
'Y-you.. don't think because I'm into you, you have the right to say all that to me, she said inwardly
He was her boss, she dared not say that to him. She had blindly came to work under him to win his heart. Here he was being so rude and arrogant
Her eyes narrowed when he walked into his office not even taking a glance at her, she looked at Landon who kept his gaze fixed on his phone and the secretary who had quite an amused look in her face.
" Hey Alya "
Her ears caught those words just before Rex closed the door
Her hands tightened around her skirt as anger ran all over her body. She walked out of the office straight into the ladies room.
" Alya Alya Alya " she gritted
Why was someone so beneath her getting what she wanted.
She was annoyed
Mad with jealousy
She got even angry remembering the way Rex had ignored her all because of the blue eyed witch.
Slowly breathing out, she dialed a number
" Send me everything about Alya's health "
" Increase the dosage of the drug I ask you to give her "
" You can't do it? " She shouted out of frustrations at what the person she had called told her
" Exactly, that's what I want, I want her dead "
" I'm saying no more, just do what I ask you to do " she hung up breathing heavily.
She scrolled through her gallery and a cold smile crawl onto her lips
" Let's just count the days now, Alya " she whispered and tapped on a picture

Alya packed her hair into her usual ponytail style for work and grabbed her glasses
She had just made the last News from the writeup Cassie had sent to her and was prepared for to go to work when her phone beeped.
Someone sent her an image
Her health report? She frowned
She was done with all her checkups though she visit the hospital every month
Her eyes went wide when she read the report
She had amnesia!
Her head was in a turmoil
A temporary amnesia
It had been the same result recorded since the time of her accident and the times she went for checkups.
What was going on?
She searched through her drawer and brought out a folder.
She took out the files and read them, everything was the same as the report that was sent to her.
Everything but that word ' amnesia '
The ones she had gave no such results
She had no time to process what was wrong when her phone beeped again notifying another message.
She hurriedly checked her phone and viewed the picture. She stilled, completely numbed from the picture
" R-rex? " She muttered
Whoever took the picture was quite good, the picture was taken at close range and perfect time.
An intimate picture of Rex and a blonde haired. Almost like they were kissing or had just kissed.
A message followed straight
" He is mine, keep off "
All the letters spelt threat
She was breathless for some seconds, trying to relay everything the picture and message was talking about
A sharp pain stung Alya and she fell, a lone tear cascaded from her eye and she quickly brush it off
Why was she bothered, she tried to argue with herself
Not that she liked him anyway but a sob was torn from her mouth immediately
Yes, she like him
She love him
This was her recent discovery
She had become so close to him and loved him so much
It's never crossed her mind he might have a girlfriend or maybe a fiancee
Haha, she laughed at herself
What was she even saying
A handsome billionaire without a girlfriend if not a fiancee.
She hugged her legs and sobbed
She didn't know why she was hurting more than she should
Her heart didn't take it as loving someone who loves someone else
Rather, it was like he left her for another person

It was painful so painful
She had completely forgotten about the report she first received
Reluctantly, she picked herself from the floor and made way to her bathroom and washed her face.
Her phone rang and she picked it, it was April
" Are you done, Let me come pick you up? " April asked
" N-no, I'll go myself " try as she might to sound okay, it didn't escape April's notice that her voice was breaking like she had cried
" Are you okay Alya? " She asked
" Yeah, very okay " Alya replied trying to keep herself calm
" Are you sure?, You sound like you are crying or you cried? Tell me, did something happened? " April asked at once obviously worried
" C-crying? Haha, no I'm fine, very f-fin... " She tried to make light of the situation by laughing but she broke down at the last minute and she quickly hung up.
She cleaned the tears trying to fall off and slowly breathed out trying to ease the pain she was feeling
Why was the pain so intense?
She wasn't half this broken when she found out that her ex boyfriend had two other girls he was dating apart from her.
Then why?
She breathed out again and walked out of her house and flagged down a taxi
She was going to stay as far away as she could from Rex, the only time they would get to talk would be during meetings.
No casual talks
He wouldn't be a friend any longer but her boss
She was determined she could do it especially when she got to work and he wasn't around.
Time went very fast and she was on way back home without seeing Rex, she prefer that way
She knew she would be able to do all she wanted when she see less of him and she believed she would
But all her hopes crumbled
Crumbled to pieces as she was seated between three pairs of eyes waiting for her to explain what ever had happened to her.
She was able to hide everything from her colleagues but not this seemingly trios staring at her
Her resolve had been broken and she sighed out frustrating
