Waking up

Meanwhile Jessa slept. She dreamed so vividly. Her mind was full of the most beautiful place she'd ever seen! She wondered towards the sound of a waterfall. She stepped out into a clearing. It was a small grotto. A beautiful cherry blossom tree stood beside a gorgeous lake that had a small waterfall cascading down jewel colored rocks. The sun throwing a rainbow across it. She sat beneath the trees shade and looked around her. Suddenly she heard the approaching feet of an animal. She startled and looked up to see a huge beautiful white wolf before her. She didn't feel frightened however, she felt… comfort. Like she knew this wolf.

The wolf was solid white except for a perfect crescent moon in the most glossy jet black on her forehead. It looked like a diadem. Perfectly centered. She was magnificent. Jessa had never seen a wolf like that. Normal they ranged in colors of grey, black, tans, and some reds. Never solid white like this. Her for shone like diamonds in the sunlight making the crescent look like obsidian against white silk.

"Hello Jessa" the wolf said to her through a mindlink. "I'm Jewel"

"Hello Jewel, are you… are you my wolf?" She asked astonished that such a beautiful creature could ever be hers.

"Indeed. I've been kept away for nearly a month now thanks to the wolvesbane. But I'm here now. I have seen all you've suffered. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there to protect you!" She said mournfully.

"It's not your fault! Please, don't be sad. We're together now, but wait, you said nearly a month? I only just turned 18 yesterday…" Jessa asked confused

"No my child, you have been 18 nearly a month. Your birthdate was May 6th. Cinco de Mayo as you may recall... That day you were beaten. Hanny injected you with weakened silver and wolvesbane. She had no idea how old you really were, almost 18. Had I been present yet I wouldn't have allowed it. I was just a day too late. I wanted so bad to come forth and protect you. You and Amelia and Caleb. Amelia's wolf will come back to her as well. As the bane wears off. She can only heal her from afar right now. Ah, the mother comes!" To that jewel bowed her head low to the ground. Jessa attempted to stand and do the same but found herself unable to bend with the pain of the wounds.

"Sit child. Let me look at you. Oh my. What has our race come to? Such cruelty." The moon goddess spoke with honeyed words to Jessa.

"M-m-moon G-G-Goddess?" Jessa stuttered astonished to be sitting in front of her creator.

"You may call me Celeste child. I cannot heal these scars, but I can heal the pain. I see you've met Jewel. Such a beautiful wolf. You two are perfectly suited. Jessa, I cannot give you answers. I hear your mind child. You wonder who you are. I can tell you, it's more than you ever imagined. You have power, as well as powers. But you'll have to figure those out for yourself. I'm not permitted to tell you. There's a storm coming Jessa, and you must be ready. You'll have to face down your previous pack. They've done so many heinous crimes. They must be held accountable. You won't remember much of this dream. Only key facts. Wake now my child. There's much to do." With that Celeste took her anthame and tapped Jessa on the back of her right shoulder. She and Jewel merged into one and the spot that was tapped felt warm. As if something had been placed there.

Back in the hospital room the doctor gasped as a shimmery white mark materialized on the back of Jessa's right shoulder. She has never seen such a thing happen! Then the wounds on her back began to heal.

" Alpha! Look at this! I've never seen such a thing! Wait! I smell a wolf! She's gaining her wolf! Incredible!" Dr. Black said astonished.

But the alpha didn't hear her. All he could hear was Jax shouting mate in his head. All he could smell was apples, honey and chocolate. All he could see was his mate. At long last. Before him scarred by those evil people but still so beautiful! He would avenge her!

'Kill those bastards that hurt mate!' Jax snarled.

Then Jessa's eyes opened. They had darkened. Now they looked more sage than silver. A beautiful color. They were immediately taken over by a pair of brilliant blue green eyes. Her wolf no doubt. And her beautiful rosebud lips parted and softly growled "Mate!"

Jessa couldn't believe her ears. Mate?!?! This gorgeous man was her mate?!?! But Jewel was too busy doing zoomies in her head shouting mate to hear her. Immediately Jessa's entire mood plummeted. That stopped Jewel.

'What is wrong? Do you not like mate?' She asked her head tilted.

'He's gorgeous and smells Devine. Like rich leather, mint, and chocolate. But, he will never accept us. I'm a nobody. An orphaned omega. He's an alpha! I am no where near his rank.' She thought glumly.

To her absolute astonishment she saw James's wolf come forward. His golden eyes sobbing brightly. 'Mate!' He growled out then grabbed Jessa and kissed her soundly. After he relinquished control back to James he backed up quickly. Jessa's head fell as rejection washed over her and her eyes darted to her feet immediately. Her cheeks flashing brightly.

"I'm so sorry Jessa! I lost control over Jax. He pushed forward. I am truly sorry!" He repeated over and over.

"Not to worry. Just please, I'm begging you. Allow me to heal a little more before you…reject me. I don't think I am strong enough to withstand a second rejection in my current state…" she whimpered.

"Rejection? Do you want to reject me?" He asked worry and a little bit of confusion and anger in his voice.

"No! Not at all. Wait, YOU'RE not going to reject ME?!?! I…I don't understand…."

"Reject you?!?! Why on earth would I do that? You're literally made for me by the Moon Goddess herself! Only a fool would turn that away!" He said to her astonished that she would even think such a thing. Then he remembered. She'd been rejected already. By a pathetic excuse of a future beta. The thought brought on a very angry growl from Jax. But James reminded him that had he NOT done it, he'd never had gotten to save her and meet her at all. That calmed Jax down and he turned smug. This amazing woman belonged to HIM. NOT that worm of a beta! He'd tossed away gold for something as silly as rank! What a loser.

Jessa sat watching as the emotions played across his face. His eyes charming as he conversed with his wolf. She didn't know his name! Her own mate and she didn't know his wolf!

She suddenly sat up and addressed him directly

"Please, what is your name? My wolf is eager to meet you!" She said

His eyes turned golden and a gruff but not at all unpleasant voice said "I am Jax. May I meet her Jessa?" He all but purred. If he had a tail in this form it would no doubt be wagging so hard he'd levitate.

Jessa felt Jewel come forward and she was pushed back into her own mind. "I am Jewel. Nice to meet you Jax." She purred back in her soft and sweet voice.

"Jewel! What a beautiful name! Please, what do you look like? I know you cannot shift yet. I'm dying to know what you look like!"

"It's a surprise!" She teased him in a flirty manner watching as his eyes lit up at the game she was playing.

"I'll bet you're beautiful. I can't wait to see you." He said back. "If you're nearly as beautiful as your human counterpart I'm in trouble!" He said with a wink then he gave control over to James.

James marveled as her eyes shifted back to her green. He let out a small laugh and Jessa looked at him in confusion.

"Jax is being very undignified right now. He's zooming around like a puppy. I'd say there's no doubt he's over the moon right now at finally meeting his mate. We've been alone for a while now. We never thought we'd meet you." He said causing Jax to halt and huff at him for painting him in that light! Ugh, what would jewel think now? Him acting like a mere pup! So much for looking strong, dignified and regal with his excellent pedigree. Now all he could see if himself as a giant clumsy pup.

This caused Jessa a to laugh as well. "Jewel was doing the same! She seems so….. well…regal one moment then gushing and doing zoomies the next!" Jessa giggled. Jewel stuck her tongue out at Jessa and grumbled slightly. Seemed she and Jax were on the same page about this at least.
