First Christmas Together

Christmas morning dawned and Emily sleepily turned towards her boyfriend, who was dead to the world. His mouth was slightly open and he was on his side facing her, one arm reaching out to her unknowingly. Her heart melted. How could one person be so cute?

"Justin," she said softly. "Wake up, it's Christmas."

"Wha?" he mumbled in a daze with his eyes still closed.

Emily glanced at the clock. "It's almost ten. I'm going to go put the cinnamon rolls in the oven."

That woke him up. "Cinnamon rolls?"

"Don't be too impressed. They're the frozen kind. All I have to do is stick them in the oven."

"Mm," he said before going back to sleep.

She smiled indulgently and gave him a kiss on the forehead before climbing out of bed and heading downstairs. It was going to be strange not having her stocking full of little treats like her mom always did. This was her first year having Christmas away from her mom's influence.
