Chapter 37: Strange Behavior.

The shouts were getting louder and louder. Even the professors found the whole situation ridiculous as it was first time that they had witnessed such a collective hatred for someone else. The students form the other house were looking at the Mad Gryffindor students with weird Eyes, they wondered what had happened to them. The students from the other house also looked at Liam wondering if he was actually the person behind the incident which they just witnessed.

The Slytherin house students were very angry to see the Gryffindor students blame a Slytherin house student. They thought of this whole thing as a conspiracy by the Gryffindor to win against the Slytherin students.

Hermione shouted, "He didn't do anything."

Ron who was standing next to Hermione started looking at her with bitter eyes, "Hermione, Liam is the one responsible for this." His expression became creepy, "He hates harry, he is jealous of Harry that's why he did this." Ron said this with ghostly eyes. As if he was not him anymore.

Liam was on the ground also observing the people who were cursing him, he noticed that the senior students were not shouting but just looking at him with resentment, the little wizards of first year were the only ones who were shouting showing a very intense amount of hatred. The only ones who were not hating him were Hermione, Fred and George.

Snape had heard what Ron said, he looked at him, trying to figure out the strangeness in his speech and eyes.

'This is definitely some dark magic, a very high level dark magic.' He looked towards Dumbledore who had also observed the strangeness in the Gryffindor students, they both nodded.

"SILENCE…" Dumbledore shouted.

The whole audience became silent, and the Gryffindor students acted as if they were out of a trance. Not knowing what they had just done.

'My thoughts were correct, the students were controlled… but such a level of control… wait a minute, they weren't controlled. It was mind corruption. But to cast mind corruption to such an amount of people. It's impossible. Is it a spell? No… Spells aren't that potent… a mantra? That can't be it a mantra only keeps working until the wizard is chanting the mantra. A charm? It's impossible… I have read about this… it is…" Snape's train of though was interrupted by Prof. Hooch's announcement.

"Harry potter the seeker of Gryffindor team caught the snitch in his fall, Gryffindor team gets 150 points and has won the match. The case of who enchanted Harry's broom will be investigated. All the students are hereby commanded to return to the castle immediately."

The Slytherin house Students protested, "This isn't fair. We need a rematch."

They started to show their dissatisfaction with the decision.

"Quite… I don't want to hear anything from you." Snape shouted.

All the Slytherin students became even more upset but didn't protest out loud.

Prof. Snape walked towards Liam, "You… come with me." Liam quickly followed Snape lowering his head with a very strange face.

Cedric and Michael just looked at Liam leaving with Prof. Snape.

Ron was still not in his right mind he left without saying a word. Hermione tried to stop Ron from leaving but he glared at her, which made Hermione not want to stop him.

Cedric, Michael and Hermione were standing together.

"It must be very hard on him, being hated by everyone. All he has got from Hogwarts is hate, when he came to Hogwarts he was hated for being a Muggle-born, by his own house members. He got bullied by them so much so that they harmed him physically. Even when the students finally started to acknowledge him because of fighting trolls, I never saw him get prideful nor arrogant. I was there watching him practice spells. I know he has put a lot of effort for having the strength he has and how much talent he has, and now look at him he is now being hated for something he didn't even do. I wonder why he has to suffer so much." Cedric said with a sad expression.

Hermione looked at Cedric. This was the first time she heard about Liam practicing with Cedric, looking at Cedric expression she understood that he was truly Liam's friend. But the same could not be said to the other, she noticed that Michael had a very strange expression. As if he was guilty.

"Don't worry, we will prove his innocence. We need to investigate this matter. I have noticed that all the Gryffindor students started acting strange since yesterday. Someone is clearly targeting Liam." Said Hermione.

Cedric showed a very confused expression, "But who would do such a thing, even to this extent. I don't remember Liam doing anything to someone who could do such a thing."

"We can find out who may be behind it, I overheard Prof. McGonagall say that Harry's broom was enchanted. We just have to find who enchanted Harry's room."

"We might be able to help you in that." Fred and George said in unison.

Snape took Liam to his office. The office was in a mess there were many potion materials scattered on his desk near the cauldron which was still burning. Maybe Snape was brewing some kind of potion before.

He looked at Liam with a bit anger, "Tell me did you enchant, Harry's broom."

"NO." Liam replied with a firm look.

"Hmm… Sit on that chair, and don't leave my office. In a while you will accompany me somewhere." Snape ordered.

Liam quietly sat down with a book he picked up from Snape's desk.

Snape on the other hand ignored Liam's shameless act and started to look for something in his book shelf.

After a while of searching he finally found what he was looing for.

"He rubbed the dust off from the book, it has been a little over 11 years since I last opened this book. Who would have thought I will be reading it again. It better have the information I need this time."
