chapter 29 : Checkmate

Every three days for a few months, Ron trained the others in an orderly and efficient manner.

 First, they worked on the basic spells in defense and attack to understand them and then master them perfectly in order to be able to use them without even incantation.

 He believed that mastering one or two spells perfectly was better than knowing 10 or 20 different spells because these two spells mastered perfectly could prove useful in several situations if their user understood them perfectly.

 For his close friends who had already passed this milestone, Ron showed them the technique to manifest their patronus without a wand or incantations, it was different from the time he did it with Luna because at that moment, he needed to live a happy moment in the present.

 His new technique didn't need that but required another level of concentration to manifest the patronus.

 If he wanted Luna and the others to take this step it is because this level of concentration is more than necessary to learn the rest more easily.

 Of course, all this did not go unnoticed and Filch had noticed that students were gathering in an unknown room, he had tried to surprise them but the door disappeared each time, he had reported it to Umbridge and herself could never surprise them.

 She had warned the ministry which issued the decree to abolish student associations but it had produced nothing.

 Since then, Umbridge has set up an inquisitorial brigade with Filch and the students of Slytherin, but their various attempts have only been failures.

 She had decided to interview the students to question them about illicit operations and as soon as the decree was made, Ron had asked the others not to panic and not to drink or eat anything she was offering and if the air had a strange smell so they had to go out while feigning discomfort.

 He was right to give them this advice because she had drugged her tea with verita serum so that the students would expose their secrets, something that was totally forbidden in the school.

 Fortunately, none of the Gryffindors had drunk tea and the questions were answered calmly despite the pressure she put on them.

 They managed to train in peace for a while, exiting the room at the right place and time thanks to Lucius.

 Ron's intelligent cat kept watch outside the room and shared his vision with Ron if anyone arrived to coordinate an escape.

 One evening while they were training, Lucius immediately showed Ron his vision and he saw Umbridge coming there with Cho Chang, she seemed to have betrayed them so he immediately alerted the others.

 He first teleported for 8 seconds before returning under the shocked looks of others who were seeing this for the first time.

 Ron: Everyone come together and hold hands, FAST!!

 They used to do exactly what he said so without even arguing, they did and all gathered into a very compact group of 68 people and there Ron touched one of them to teleport them all suddenly in the Gryffindor common room.

 He had appeared there for a few seconds to clear with his magic all the furniture that could cause accidents to those who risked appearing through them.

 Once they reappeared in the room, Ron immediately fell to his knees as blood flowed profusely from his nose and ears.

 Luna: RONALD!!!

 She and the others immediately came to him and he snapped his fingers for a potion to appear in his hand before shakily drinking it and falling unconscious, teleporting 68 people was way too much.

 Harry and Neville immediately took him to his bed and Hermione quietly ushered the others out of the room before going upstairs with Luna to look at his condition.

 Harry: He's sleeping, it's not a new coma but a deep sleep due to great fatigue.

 Neville: What made it move us all suddenly.

 Hermione: The only possible reason is that someone was going to discover the room and surprise us.

 Harry: Impossible, it's only in front of one of us that the door appears.

 Luna: Someone betrayed us, someone betrayed Ron.

 They heard a commotion downstairs, Fred and George went upstairs to tell them that Umbridge had destroyed one of the walls of the school to discover a small, old, dusty storage room.

 Several students had ended up there because of the explosion caused by her and Cho Chang had been seen near her, they knew that she had betrayed them. Dumbledore also came there and was angry because of this act of vandalism.

 She accused the students without any proof of organizing clandestine training under the direction of Head Boy Weasley, when asked for proof of this, she proudly announced that student Cho Chang had confessed to it under supervision verita serum.

 This poor idiot didn't realize that she had just led the Ministry into a trap set by Ron and Dumbledore.

 Soon, Dumbledore had made public statements that the High Inquisitor sent by the Ministry to Hogwarts had proudly declared that by order of the Ministry, she had used drugs on the students.

 This public announcement had sown an immense wave of rage and indignation on the part of the population against the ministry which was already losing influence due to the increasingly frequent serious criminal activities of death eaters.

 The parents decided to take their children home who told them everything Umbridge had done within the school and on behalf of the ministry.

 The final blow came when 10 highly dangerous prisoners were escaped from Azkaban, all of them death eaters.

 The Department of Mysteries at the Ministry had been attacked by them as they were looking for something they fortunately hadn't found, showing the populace that the Ministry had lied about upcoming threats.

 With the support of the students' parents, Dumbledore had decided to dissociate Hogwarts from the Ministry and the matter attracted the attention of the international magical community because it was not a small school.

 An investigation by the International Confederation of Wizards was carried out into the actions of the ministry.

 Ron woke up after three weeks in his room at the mansion and once again, Luna was by his side when he opened his eyes.

 Ron: Hello sweetie.

 Luna: Hello big lazy guy.

 Ron: Did I sleep long?

 Luna: Three weeks. The plan you proposed to Dumbledore worked, the school was separated from the influence of the Ministry with the intervention of the international confederation.

 Ron: That's good...that's an excellent thing...Where are the others?

 Luna: They train with the other students. Why did you tell me about it and not the others? They deserved to know, they are our friends.

 Ron: There are things you say to your wife and not to your friends.

 He had his nose blocked by Luna.

 Ron: Luna! I can not breath anymore !

 Luna: Why do you always have to do this kind of dangerous thing, nargle brain? What if your already weakened body couldn't handle the shock? What if you die. I would have lost you too!

 Ron: Because it was the right thing to do and (stands up) it's okay sweetheart, you won't lose me.

 They moved closer to kiss when after a few seconds, they were surprised by Molly, Xenophilius, Arthur and Percy who entered the room.

 Xenophilius: Honey!! I knew it, AHAHAHAH!

 Luna: Dad!!

 Ron: Mr. Lovegood, I can explain...

 Xenophilius: It's not really worth it! My Luna has had you with her since she was little and she is becoming a happy young woman with you. She even has friends instead of becoming a dull and lonely girl.

 Luna: It's embarrassing, Dad.

 Xenophilius: Above all, go slowly, children…

 Luna: DAD!!

 Arthur: Xenophilius and I have known for a while, Ronald.

 Molly: We literally watched you two grow up together and we were just wondering when it was going to happen.

 Ron: Okay, that's a great thing. I'm going to marry her right after we graduate.

 Xenophilius: You are such an amazing boy Ronald, why not do it now?

 Ron + Luna: NO!!

 "Xenophilius how about we go have some fullness herb tea?" Arthur himself decided to calm down Xenophilius and took him away, his old friend was too dreamy.

 Molly: Ron, I'm glad you're finally awake, we were so worried and Luna, this little angel, didn't leave your side for a single day.

 Completely red, the girl played with her fingers and Molly moved closer to give her a hug.

 Molly: You are what my Ronald needs, we will be happy to have you in the family.

 She then got up to go out after telling Ron that there was food for him downstairs and that the others were waiting for him at school.

 Percy: Hi Ron.

 Ron: What are you doing here?! Are you no longer Fudge's faithful servant? Listen to me carefully, I don't want to hear anything from you, I don't want to hear anything from someone who puts ambitions ahead of his family. You've known Cédric longer than me and you know he was dead. When the Ministry ridiculed him and Harry, you were with those old cowards! When they tried to attack the school that gave you so much and accused Dumbledore of betrayal, you stood by them. I don't want to hear anything from you Percy, the others may have forgotten but not me.

 Percy just nodded before leaving without saying anything, Ron had made that clear.

 Luna: You look very angry.

 Ron: It's okay, everything is fine, sweetheart.

 "I like being with you..." She said suddenly and it surprised Ron.

 Ron: What did you say?!

 Luna: It's embarrassing...

 Ron: Say it again...

 Luna: I like being with you...

 Ron: Say it again better...

 "I...I love you..." She said in embarrassment before disapparating who knew where out of embarrassment leaving Ron there with a teasing smile and she was quick to return but as soon as she returned they spent minutes to kiss each other while repeating that they loved each other. The two teenagers had no idea that something was binding their magic.

 (I warned you, this Luna is different from the films because Ron has been around her since her childhood and has enormously influenced her attitude. She was always so pure and disconnected from general reality sometimes but when he was there, she was the same but different to that time.)
