The remainder of the journey towards the Eastwoods Province happened without any interruption. It seems having lost two Magus, even if just two low-grade ones that advanced with the help of Grine Water, has scared off the party behind the attack.
It was no surprise since in the Poolfield Kingdom and the regions around it, the Magi that advanced with an Advanced Meditation Technique to Rank 1 were at the top of the food chains; above them were just the rare few Rank 2 Magus.
As for Rank 3 Magi, there were probably less than 10 in the whole South Coast and the rulers of this continent. Even a Rank 1 Magus, while being nothing more than trash in the entirety of the Magus World, was in the South Coast a powerful force.
Someone who could take care of two of them by himself was nobody any of the Forces in the Poolfield Kingdom wanted to casually offend over some magic crystals.
Now with slaves taking care of the journey, Harry could enjoy his time inside a carriage. While Celeste was assisting him, he was experimenting in fields he hadn't put much effort into yet.
The AI Chip already completed the analysis of the different potion fromulas he acquired from Kroft before he had even left the academy. In order to locate substitute ingredients, he would need to experiment with different combinations.
Nothing he could do in a carriage without a steady supply of new materials. Constant simulations of different spell models made by the AI chip also brought only minor advancements.
In order to create an actual Rank 4 Spell Model that was applicable without a great cost, he would need more materials.
Well, he already simulated a few Rank 4 spell models, each of them having the power of a nuke. But they were not the common type of spell one could use casually.
No, they were suicide techniques, based on a spell he had learned from the Eldunari before their coma.
The simple explanation for these spells is that one turns his own body into a nuke, channeling all his energy into a magical nuclear reaction.
It was based on one of the spells that had destroyed the formerly capital of the Dragon Riders.
During the war against Galbatorix, one of the Dragon Riders had turned himself into unstable energy, causing a nuclear reaction that pretty much destroyed the island the Dragon Riders had lived on.
The radiation he had encountered before visiting the Rock of Cuthian, whyever he went there, he doesn't remember it anymore, was caused by that spell.
Of course Harry had no interest in suiciding himself, so these spell models were out of question.
Any other possible Rank 4 spell model was still years of simulation away and unlikely to be usable by him at his current level.
Instead, he decided to focus on a different field of magic. Runes and Enchanting, while the books Sirius had left in Westeros contained only the basics, it was more than enough to start.
While Runes were used during the creation of the Marauder's Map, it was more the area Remus had worked in than Sirius.
Meanwhile Sirius and his own 'Father' James knew the basics because he needed it to modify the map and add new rooms, it had been Remus who completed the complex parts.
But combined with the information available in the Abyssal Bone Forest Academy, the ones he had stolen from the other Acolytes Minds, and the research notes from Lowian's teachings, it allowed him to start experimentation and simulation with his AI chip.
Right now he didn't want to create magical artifacts that he could use for combat. He had a completely different field in mind.
His goal had been blueprints for different scientific tools from his past lives, be it microscopes, centrifuges, telescopes, particle colliders, or even a computer. A magic-based version of it would be useful.
A combination of science and magic was always powerful. A power he wouldn't abbandon.
Without his gamer system, he no longer could just grow infinitely by just grinding stats and skills.
Magus Cultivation was powerful, but even the final levels were weaker than many other worlds, like, for example, Dragonball or even Naruto. 'Warlock of the Magus World' Cultivation System had more advantage in immortality.
But the Magus were still bound to this particular fictional universe.
And he needed a new cheat; AI Chip was cool and all, but it didn't make him stronger; it just gave him the tools.
He needed a new cheat, and a combination of science and magic was a good start that could exploit the AI chip fully.
Especially magic-based computing sounded like an amazing idea to give him a headstart; with the AI chip and further advances into magical robotics or similar, he would be able to automate experimentation and research.
Of course the progress in that field was slow; he really wished he had taken computer science in one of his past lives.
"Master! There is a city ahead." The voice of one of the Grand Knights resounded from the front of the carriage; his two strongest slaves had taken upon themselves to guard him personally.
Even though he had spent considerable time to map out the region around his path, he still managed to reach the Eastwood Province in 7 months.
A few spells here and there making the carriages lighter or increasing the stamina of the horses allowed them to travel much faster.
"Where are we?"
"According to the map, this should be Extreme Night City, sir!" The knight replied politely.
Harry opened the covers to get a look out of the carriage. Outside he saw a withered forest, plants that were dead and dried out. The shadow cast by the dark clouds gave it a gloomy look.
In the distance he could make out the Gates of the City, the Walls were not very high. With his current physique, he would have no problem climbing over them.
The withered forest had been the eastern parts of the Dark Nights Woods surrounding the city. These woods were the very livelyhood of this city, generating a large part of it's income.
His mission was to investigate the true reason behind the withering and solve it. If he were a regular Acolyte, he probably would just laze around and do something else until the war in the academy was over.
But Harry already knew what he would find there—the MCs plot armor he was leeching off. He already wasted more than enough time on the journey by mapping out the kingdom and locating the different hidden Magus markets.
"You guys should enter the city. I will be joining you in a few hours. Get some temporary lodging ready." Harry ordered as he climbed out of the carriage.
"Shouldn't I accompany you, Master Harry?" Celeste asked as she looked at him, confused about the sudden change.
"No, take care of matters here. You have the lead." Harry said as he threw a sack filled with gold coins towards her, "You would just die with your current strength."
None of them dared to disagree with him.
After all, they all had seen how strong he was by easily dispatching two Magi for their unbeatable existences and turning them into pebbles that he now carried with him.
"Yes, Master." Celeste bowed as she collected the purse he had given her.
"A simple lodging is enough. Once I return, we will get something more permanent." Harry ordered before he turned around and headed deeper into Woods, following the trail of withered vegetation.
In the meantime, he pulled a small crystal ball out of his inventory space. This small ball is a magical artifact used by the academy to record mission reports.
It's used as proof for the completion of a mission.
This artifact is basically a magical camera that he had to use to record proof for the mission completion.
Harry had spent quite a bit of time carefully examining and studying this artifact. For one, he simply wanted to know how it worked and add his insights to his database for future use.
And he also needed to make sure it couldn't be used to spy on him and what it recorded. He still needed to cover up his real strength for a while, or he would have wasted staying in the academy.
There was an idea he had that he wanted to try out, and for that he needed to return to the academy in the future. While it was a loose idea, his current research confirmed that it should work for now.
"Activate!" He ordered in the ancient bryon language to start the recording.
While he added date and time, which the Crytall Ball was unable to track, he began to record the looks of the withered area.
He didn't need the academy to know how early he was planning to complete the mission. There were a ton of things he wanted to do these next few years.
