Chapter - 11: Binding Vow?
----------
I watched the rats die below me. I took the wooden ladder and descended into the cave, observing my surroundings, which was basically a cave that stretched across Dugeon.
I passed by the corpses, but when I entered a passage, I saw nothing too important and kept moving forward, while to my surprise, I saw the space in front of me grow larger and larger.
As I thinned out the rat population in front of me, I suddenly saw a sight that I never wanted to see and that I was sure I would dream about for at least the next few days.
Hundreds of rats. Literally hundreds, I had to admit, which was not a pretty sight and put a little pressure on me as I had never faced so many enemies at once.
Can I do this? They may be incredibly weaker than me, but the numerical advantage is not insignificant. I certainly don't have infinite stamina, and they can pile on.
Anyway, this is not a boss fight, so I can always escape and return to the safe room. Besides, I had to remember why he decided to come here, and that was because I lacked a real battle experience to make me feel more confident of me.
I assumed a fighting stance and waited for the various rats to slowly approach me. In a way, I could begin my indiscriminate slaughter of all the creatures in my vicinity.
I also decided not to use my spell, as I wanted to preserve my "mind" for much more dangerous situations I might face in the next levels of Dugeon in the future.
The moment the wave of undead reached me, I activated my "Demon Face" and hurled myself at the horde with a speed that seemed too much for them to follow.
Decapitating the three in front of me and injuring others near me, I could feel my body filling with power, not only making my attacks much more powerful, but also giving them a slight "Nen" effect with the energy trail.
Holding one hand in front of me and one foot behind my back, I slashed with Knight Killer. I gutted all the rats that approached. But eventually I was surrounded as the rats began to pile on me.
At close range, I opted for some good old-fashioned physical combat. While on the ground, I dropped an enhanced elbow on a rat's head, killing it instantly.
Seeing one attached to my leg, I improved it further by hardening my muscles before swinging that leg and fending off several rats along with the one attached to my leg
With my foot back on the ground, I regained my momentum and punched one rat in the head before turning it into an elbow into another rat, then twisting my body and unleashing a spin kick, pushing even further away and giving myself some breathing space.
I hit a rat approaching from behind before unleashing a devastating axe kick to its head, watching it explode in a pool of blood as the weight of the blow was transferred to the other enemies behind it.
*(Gasps)
"Looks like it wasn't such a difficult task after all," I said as I looked at the hundreds of corpses scattered around the room, which looked rather gruesome if I had to be honest.
But I didn't pay much attention as I rested for a few seconds before moving on, before the surrounding corpses began to rot and the environment became even more difficult to stay in.
I moved on, watching the carnage I had caused, which, to be honest, made me feel more confident in my abilities, which was an important factor for me in the long run.
However, the way forward was fairly obvious, at least unless I was a certain green-haired character. But here was where the real problems began, and it seemed to me that things were about to get more complicated than I had expected, as I saw several skeleton warriors charging towards me.
But I was not about to retreat as I stepped into their path with a snap. And I struck the skeleton from below with the Knight-Killer, shattering its skull of bones before moving on to another with a speed far beyond that of a normal human.
"Renewal Taekwondo: Low Kick"
I smashed the leg of a skeleton who was charging me, leaving him vulnerable, and finished him off with an old-fashioned headbutt. Meanwhile, I grabbed the rest of the skeleton's body and threw it at the others who were trying to surround me.
But I wasn't done yet. As I manipulated the airflow and pressure around me, the image of a blue dragon manifested behind me, roaring furiously and causing the entire surrounding space to vibrate.
I no longer needed to adjust the airflow, which only proved that I was growing much faster than I had originally anticipated.
"Renewal Taekwondo: Original Jin Mo-Ri: Blue Dragon Kick."
The air pressure unleashed by my kick overwhelmed the defences of all the skeletons, leaving them unable to react in any way. And then, without fail, the air pressure overwhelmed them, and after a few seconds, not even their bones were left, proving the awesome power of this technique.
I couldn't help but smile smugly as I saw that I was getting used to fighting a lot of enemies, even though I obviously didn't have that much combat experience.
But at that moment...
*Campbell noise* *Campbell noise*
As my ears heard the sound spreading around, I could see new skeletons forming from the ground, as if summoned by a spell.
"Fuck..." I could only mutter, I had completely forgotten about the summoning bell and now I had to use more physical resistance and kill the enemies in front of me again.
Well, new training puppets. I grinned as a new mental image appeared in my mind as I got into a certain position with Knight Killer, "Let's get this over with quickly, I don't want to waste too much time with you insects that aren't even good enough for me to enjoy..."
My posture was very reminiscent of Iaijutsu. Meanwhile, the mental image was becoming clearer and clearer in my brain, and my breath was circulating in a specific way that I still had to get used to in order to use it to its full potential.
"Moon Breathing: Ichi no kata: Yamidzuki - Yoi no Miya".
I used Knight Killer to perform a unique horizontal slash that followed a crescent shape, creating hundreds of chaotic crescent-shaped blade slashes along the path of my enemies.
And without too much surprise, all the skeletons in front of me. They were completely torn to shreds as their bone limbs were pulverised to dust, just as they were meant to be.
Seeing the damage it had caused, I couldn't help but smile broadly, ''No one can use Moon Breathing...Except for Kokushibo and a Hanma," I said as I lowered my weapon.
After stepping on the ashes of my defeated enemies. I wasted no time in moving forward, only to find a room with a large hut hanging from a rope in the middle.
And without wasting any more of my precious time, I struck. Noticing that the skeletons were no longer being resurrected, I was able to continue as I was very close to opening the boss room.
Speaking of which, I reached the last part of this floor when I could see a staircase with a lever, which as far as I knew was the device used to open the boss's door, too bad that in front of it was a blue humanoid creature with a head that was a tentacle.
Brainsucker...
As soon as it saw my figure, it immediately attacked me with a leaping attack, which I dodged by taking a few steps to the side before responding with a high kick, which I obviously executed with the intention of killing it with a single blow.
But the Brainsucker shrugged off my attack, and as if to try and grab me. Fortunately, I had already anticipated his move and moved out of his sight.
"Renewal Taekwondo: Bo-Bup."
With a simple, lightning-fast move, I appeared in front of the monster before it could do anything to gain an advantage. But when I saw how much endurance he had, I knew it was time for me to work harder for this fight.
With a surge of determination, I quickly rotated the center of my body and gathered all my remaining strength. I was determined to finish this fight once and for all.
"Renewal Taekwondo: 3rd Hwechook."
I shifted my center of gravity and my hips and delivered my three kicks to Brainsucker's body. But I immediately felt some resistance coming from inside his body and watched as the tentacled creature came back to hit my body, seemingly doing no real damage to his body.
It had been a brutal blow, but it did not seem to be enough to knock him out. Obviously, the body of this particular creature seemed to be very different from other life forms.
"Resistance to physical attacks?" I could only mutter as I saw that my attacks did not seem to cause much damage to the tentacled creature in front of me, and realizing this factor, I immediately changed my battle tactics.
"Then eat some fire, you piece of shit!" I could only confirm that an arrow of fire had formed above my palm, and that all I had to do was aim before I struck, as a sadistic grin made its way across my face.
"Flame Arrow"
"Flame Arrow"
"Flame Arrow"
The sprawling monster let out an agonizing scream as it was hit by the various fire attacks. It seemed that it did not appreciate my action very much, so I naturally seized the opportunity, and with the Knight Killer in my hand, I slashed from top to bottom at a speed undetectable to the naked eye.
Unlike other creatures I had defeated in this Dugeon, I saw the Brainsucker's body disintegrate into blue particles, and with a small smile on my face, I pulled the lever that unlocked the boss room.
[First Floor Boss Room - Open]
Good...
The Flaming Arrow spell was truly one of the few skills I currently possessed that allowed me to make a good attack without having to get too close to my opponent, which I was truly grateful for.
However, this fight had made me realize that I needed to rely on it more. After all, it was really useful to be able to surprise my opponent both up close and from a distance.
At the same time, I found a way to make my skills stronger. It was simple, I just had to do what all Shonen characters do and say the names of my skills out loud.
That way, not only would I have a clearer mental picture of what I was going to do. But at the same time, I would get a power boost that was not to be taken lightly.
Current - Binding Vows:
Words Have Power - By telling your opponent the name of the skill you are using, you can make your techniques 10% more powerful and also add a 15% increase to Imagination.
A simple but effective vow of the Jujutsu Kaisen universe that did not hinder me in any way, but gave me an advantage whenever I needed it. Because I was fighting non-sentient beings.
Imagine me throwing a fireball at you and then shouting "fireball", nothing changes except that it gives me a power boost. And an "I am Atomic" would be much stronger than normal, which wasn't bad for me at all.
Not that I was forced to shout out every single technique I was going to use, and if I decided not to shout out the name of an attack instead, it would give my opponent too much of a clue or something.
After the opponent figured out exactly what the attack was, then the name could be revealed. Since it was basically a free improvement, I really welcome it.
It was something I had in mind from the beginning when I realized that I could replicate most of the power systems of the different universes. This way, I can maximize the effect of my "Demon Brain" to achieve even more impossible things.
--------
A/N: In fact, this dungeon was designed from the beginning to accommodate different concepts from different universes within the story. The introduction of Binding Vows in the chapter and interesting, especially its mechanics and its own freedom in creating specific skills. which I find both intriguing and undoubtedly beneficial, as highlighted in the chapter.
I have deliberately refrained from implementing anything overly powerful in light of the recent introduction of the binding vows. However, I am brimming with ideas. For example, consider a concept like the Chain of Exodia, which could take the protagonist's physical prowess to an unprecedented level in the story, beyond mere words.
If you have suggestions for additional binding oaths, feel free to share them. I'm more interested in complex and sophisticated concepts than simple ones.
As for the upcoming chapters of the story, either in the next chapter or the one after that, I would like to complete the exploration of the dungeon and shift the focus to the Colosseum rounds.
In particular, the upcoming opponent is the diminutive Alice, and I plan to instill a sense of fear in her with the Adatability skill of Mc.
After that, a thrilling and very exciting battle awaits. To avoid spoilers, I will not reveal any details here.
Anyway, see you in the next chapter! XD
