Goodbye

They have been in Bandung for three days, and now they have to return to Jakarta, face the reality and the harshness of life.

Alex was driving, his eyes focused on the road in front of him. Meanwhile, Vera, who is sitting next to Jessica, is playing with the new cellphone that Alex bought for her.

"Jasmine," she called softly.

"Yeah?"

"You didn't tell Rey that you went to Bandung with me??"

Rey?

Jessica smiled sarcastically and turned her gaze out the window.

She had thought about it a lot all day. About how their relationship should continue.

Alex's words kept ringing in her head, about Rey not loving her.

And after thinking hard enough, repeating their memories together, it seems like that.

They never talked about anything as lovers, they never behaved like lovers, and never once did Jessica hear the words like, or love come out of Rey's mouth.

So, it can be concluded, that Rey did not love her.

And of course, this made Jessica angry, sad, and disappointed. It was as if she had wasted her life all this time just to be a good wife-to-be for someone who didn't even consider her a lover.

Jessica feels she has lost her precious youth. When she was supposed to be having fun with friends, having a boyfriend, and so on, she instead wasted time sitting at home learning how to cook Rey's favorite food.

"Why are you dumbfounded, anyway?"

Jessica gasped in surprise when Vera gently nudged her arm.

"I don't. Why is that, anyway?"

"The guys in group chat, asking about you. They don't know that you are with me. Rey is panicking looking for you."

'Rey panicked? Oh my God, why is he like that? Wasn't he having fun with Lusi? Wouldn't it be easier for him to have a relationship with Lusi when I'm not around him?' Jessica thought.

"Do not mind it," said Jessica, slowly.

"Why? You guys fight?"

"No, it's not like that, just a little uncomfortable. He's nothing to me, so, why make a fuss?"

Jessica took a deep breath when a soft chuckle was heard from Alex's direction. Yes, the man must be laughing at her right now.

"Isn't he is your brother?" asked Vera confused.

"No!" said Jessica, reluctantly.

Vera immediately closed her mouth tightly after hearing Jessica's answer.

The girl was again busy with her new cellphone, while Alex was busy driving.

Time passed so slowly this time, and it was exhausting. All the anger that was raging inside Jessica's chest, made her feel so tired.

Arriving at the share house, Rey immediately greeted the girl with a long scolding and an annoyed look.

Oh, this is not true. What is the meaning of his anger? Who is Jessica to him that he is angry like that?

"Can we talk later? I'm tired!" interrupted Jessica.

Rey was silent. Maybe he realized how bad the girl's mood was right now.

"We'll talk tonight. I'll wait for you on the rooftop!" Rey said before finally leaving Jessica's room.

Seriously, just looking at his face made her chest tighten.

It's not fair to her. For what she had done for the man all this time, the betrayal that the man had done didn't deserve it.

Jessica took a deep breath.

All right, she's made up her mind. She was too precious for him.

"Rey, Let's just break up this engagement." cried Jessica without a word.

Right now, they were on the rooftop. Following Rey's previous request.

"What?" Rey shouted in disbelief.

"Let's be honest. I know why you don't like me, and about us learning to love each other, I don't think it's going to work either!"

"What are you thinking about?!" said Rey confused.

Jessica shook her head weakly after taking such a long breath.

"I know, you like other women! I know, you like Lusi. So, that's it. There's no point in maintaining a relationship like this. I'm tired!"

Rey pulled Jessica's shoulders and made the girl sit facing him.

"Why to bring Lusi around?" he cried did not accepting.

"Why? You ask why? I saw it for myself! I saw with my eyes, what you were doing with her in your room! Even as long as we were together, never once did you touch me? Then suddenly I saw you and her both in your room! You think I'm not hurt?!"

'Hopefully, I can still hold back my tears. I don't want to look pathetic in front of Rey.'

Rey was silent. He didn't even dare to look her in the eyes now.

"I thought, maybe I'm not pretty enough, so you like her more than me. But, come on, it's okay, Rey. I understand. After all, love can't be forced, right? So, yeah? I've released you from our bond. From now on, you are free. You are free to have a relationship with her, or with any woman. I'm fine!"

Rey was still frozen in front of Jessica. He just watched the girl in silence.

"So, you've been gone for a few days, because you saw me and Lusi?" Rey asked after a long silence.

Jessica just nodded slowly assent to the man's question.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to betray you. I didn't mean to hurt you." Said The Man.

"But what's the truth? It's okay! It hurts. But I'm okay. Like I said earlier. Love can't be forced. I can't force you to love me too. So, yeah That's it. Me too, from now on I will try to be more open to socializing so that I can make many friends and forget you quickly."

"Jessica," Rey grabbed Jessica's hands, then held them tightly.

The girl's chest felt so tight and hot again. This hurts. But she had to be strong because this was just the beginning. She would make Rey come back to her, she would make him feel what it was like to be her.

Jessica immediately released her hand from Rey's grip.

"Rey, in the future, stay away from me as much as possible. I have to get used to living without you. You know, right? It's not easy. So, I beg you, help me to forget you. Okay?" asked Jessica.

'Do you feel lost when I'm not with you? Do I still mean anything to you?' inner Jessica screamed pitifully.

"No. Sorry, Rey. My decision is final. I can't be with you anymore. After all, you are compatible with Lusi. She's kind, beautiful, cool, fashionable, sexy. She's perfect. Different from me. I'm old-fashioned."

"Jessica," Rey whispered.

"Let me go, or I'll scream, let the guys wake up?!"

Hearing the girl's threat, Rey immediately released his grip.

"See, 'Is that so! You're already scared. You're afraid that the guys will find out about our relationship, right?"

"Jessica,"

"What? It's true, right? Rey, listen to me. No woman wants to be in my position. No woman wants to be disowned like me. I want to have an open relationship. I want everyone to know I'm your fiancé. I want you to treat me like a normal couple. But you can't give me what I want, can you? So, everything is clear, right? This relationship really can't be continued."

Jessica pushed Rey's body and walked quickly past him.
