A Damsel In Distress

I'm keep following the stream and after some distance, he can see that the forest get thinner from before. Suddenly I hear a scream from a distance that makes me stunned.

"Is that a human scream? Moreover, it's like a girl's voice. I must see what happened there!"

Without wasting any moment I run toward the scream sound coming from. After a running for some distance finally, I can see where the scream comes from. But what I'm seeing is something shocking. I see a girl with golden hair holds a wooden stick facing against a big wolf. Some wounds from the wolf's claw can be seen from the girl's body. The girl keeps screaming and asking for help.

"This language sounds like … English? And that girl's blonde hair … Am I in Europe? Doesn't matter! I must help her first and ask where is this place after that"

I put my backpack down on the ground and open the box that my dad gave to me this morning. I take the longest blades from there and prepared to face the wolf. I also take a stone as big as his fist to distract the wolf's attention. I step up slowly, approaching the wolf from the flank. The wolf is still staring fiercely at its prey. His mouth opens wide showing rows of sharp teeth. Fortunately, the wind blows into him so the wolf can't smell my body odor. After I close enough with the wolf, I throw the stone in my hand as hard as possible to the wolf. The wolf and the girl which staring at each other seems surprised with a stone that suddenly hit the wolf's head. The girl seems glad about seeing someone help her, meanwhile, the wolf seems angry because someone disturbs its meal time. The wolf staring viciously at the newcomer, me, and growls fiercely to make me scared, but I already prepared. I grip my knife tightly in my hand, waiting and preparing for the wolf's attack.

The wolf tries to circling me and find a weak spot to attack, but I keep alert and never let my sight at the wolf lost or distracted. I turn my body so I will always be facing the wolf directly and never give the wolf a chance to attack me from the flank or behind.

The wolf finally lost its patience. With a long howl, the wolf storming its claws toward me with a high jump. Its fangs also look for a target in my neck. I don't dare to take the attack head on, I drop my body to the ground and slashes his knife toward the wolf's belly when the wolf passing me in the air. Blood splattered from the open belly, and the wolf wailing miserably from the wound on its belly. The wolf finally stops moving after twitching several times. I carefully check the wolf's body and found its already dead.

I almost didn't believe what I just did, I exhale a long breath after realizing the danger already over.

"Wow, that big wolf down from my attack. This knife dad made for me really sharp, thank you dad"

I'm mumbling while admiring the knife in my hand. The girl that he just saves, is walks slowly approaching me.

"Great lord, thanks for helping me, but if I can give advice, you should hurry to leave this place," the girl said while kneel and bow for respect.

"Wait, I'm not a lord or something like that. I'm just ordinary people who lost in this forest. Can you tell me where this is?"

"Sire, if you don't mind, please leaves this place with me. It's not safe here. I'll answer your question in my village"

"Hold on, what do you mean not safe? Why such a hurry? At least we can treat your wound first"

"Sire, wolf usually live in the pack. I'm afraid there's its pack in the nearby area. We'll be outnumbered if we don't leave this place immediately and the night about to come either"

"Alright I'll follow you but I take my bag first" I run to the place I drop my backpack. After takes all my belonging, I'm following the girl to her village. We don't talk during their walks, our mind full with our own thinking. After walk for twenty minutes, they finally arrive at the edge of the forest. From there I can see a village not far from the forest. A wooden fences spreading around the village like to protect the village from the wild beast that comes from the forest.

"Sire, that's my village. I hope you don't mind to stay at my humble house for a while. My father, the chief village, will gladly accept you in our house".
