Chapter 24: "Helplessness"

Continue climbing up the hill, past the thick bushes and thick tree roots carefully. Linc lifted his head, and realized that the sun had already sunk into the horizon.

Now, only the scorching light was left that shone on the eastern area.

Could feel the Hore energy in the air thickening with time. Linc's breathing slowed even more, and he became more and more careful.

Sunflower crystal plants have almost the same characteristics as lavender crystals. But even so, there were some gaps between the two of them.

The lavender crystal plant condenses the power of Hore in her stem leaves, and creates a tiny crystal that replaces her leaf's nervous system.

As for sunflower crystal plants, they absorb the Hore energy contained in the heat of the sun, and release it into the air at night.

The release of Hore at night will make these plants twinkle like fireflies, and cause many Hore beasts to gather to suck in their light energy.

This is what Linc needs to be aware of.

Hore beast.

They were beasts that were contaminated with Hore and turned into semi-silicone-shaped Hore beasts.

Hore Beast is divided into three stages:

Hore beast level one: has skin that is difficult to destroy, and very fast regeneration power.

Level two Hore Beasts: they have a half gaseous, half silicon based form, which is where physical power doesn't affect them anymore.

Usually tier two Hore beasts were taken care of by elemental steam-based Transfusions.

Tier three Hore Beasts: they are Hurray vapor based creatures, and live within the Catastrophe. As long as they were in there, they were naturally immortals.

Both the squirrel and the mentilin that Linc sold to Lirz were first-rate Hore beasts. Theoretically they were very easy to fight with Linc's current strength.

But after climbing a tall tree and looking amidst a field of shining sunflower crystals. Linc could only grip the gun in his hand tighter.

A pack of yellow wolves, at least 20 in number. They are 4 meters long, with sharp teeth in their mouths.

They were all asleep in the middle of a field of sunflower crystals, and flickering light could be seen entering their bodies one after another.

"AAAUUUUUUUUU!!!!!"

Seeing that there was one huge five meter tall wolf roaring into the night sky. Linc watched the Hore gases escape his mouth, and he couldn't help but smile wryly.

1 second tier Hore wolf, and 19 first tier wolves.

It was almost impossible for a Linc with a normal human body to defeat them all.

Even if a kind person gave him a bazooka, Linc didn't dare to pull the trigger at all.

Level two Hore Beasts...

They are highly immune to physical damage.

"No, don't give up. I can't just go home. Wait until it rains."

Looking at the night sky covered by thick clouds. Linc felt a strong wind in the air, and predicted that it would rain soon.

Linc hated rainy situations because it reminded his of Miss Kitty. However, this time he was able to compromise.

The mansion was still pitch black.

"Are you cold too?"

The grumpy lady snored comfortably.

"You remember me with Jessi."

Raina knew that this wasn't the devil's fault at all. But she still couldn't stand it.

Everyone knew that death would come to them one day. However, who can accept it at will?

Raina feels she is not that kind of person.

She lost both her parents. She lost Jessie, her best cat. She felt that everyone was starting to walk away from him one after another.

Raina feels that she doesn't deserve love from anyone.

Including the devil.

"I'm a very stupid person aren't I?"

"He's not home yet?"

Usually on a night like this, Linc would turn on the lights in the kitchen and cook food for the cats and herself.

However saw that all the windows were tightly closed and there was no human presence anywhere. Raina felt a little anxious.

"Didn't he say he'd be home at night? It's raining out there. Where did he go?"

Feeling more and more anxious. Raina moved her thin body to get off the bed. And he staggered aside.

Transfusion is different from ordinary humans. In addition to having a mouth for their energy supplier, the Hore energy in the air can also replace that role.

The room inside the mansion was still dark and silent. No one answered at all.

Set her feet on the floor of the mansion which was very cold. Raina walked towards Linc's room, and she sat there silently.

She gritted her teeth, and raised his hand boldly. Raina starts knocking on devil's room door.

"Devil!"

No answer.

"Hey devil, open the door!"

Still no answer.

"Please... Open the door..."

A drop of water fell on her face.

Tears started trickling down Raina's face one after another non-stop. She knelt to the ground slowly.

Her figure, her slender back, felt so helpless.

"... Do not leave me alone...."

The sound of her sobs drowned out by the sound of the night rain hitting the window panes.
