Bragi was terrified, but he somehow managed to find the courage to get back on his feet, he could barely feel his legs but there is no going away now. He drew in a few deep breaths and calmed himself, he approached the chicken coop and when he got closer although he was terrified at first but now he felt calm and he was composed.
He doesn't know for how long, but he's always had the ability to keep calm no matter how intense any situation gets
" The heart of a warrior" he said to himself in a really low tone. almost inaudible.
He was fully composed at this point, He looked through the opening of the chicken coop and saw a creature that looked a lot like a dragon that he had seen in so many books and scrolls.
It's looked so different compared to any descriptions he's heard so far.
" This thing is the bloody size of a kitten "
He unintentionally said out loud.
" You idiot shut the hell up "
He peeped through the window above the coop to see if anyone heard him, fortunately there was no one in sight. he the decided to take a second proper look at this creature in his presence.
It looked like a reptile, there was some goo like substance it was completely covered in and he saw that some of that goo was in the egg as well. at this point the neon green was completely gone but the dragons eyes were glowing neon green.
" This is definitely something magical "
where Bragi came from Gyotre in the kingdom of Robur in order to use magic you had to be born with some special ability.
The dragon had scaly skin, it looked a lot like a lizard with a long body and a tail almost as longer than the body it's self with short hind legs the other two limbs also functioned as a wing. The wing which bore so much similarity to that of a bat (they were longer of course). It had very long and sharp looking claws compared to the size of it's arms.
it had a snake-like head, and deep eye sockets. His eyes were green and it had vertical black pupils. As Bragi was taking all this information in, he realized something that although this creatures with most lethal and ferocious bunch as babies they were quite vulnerable and need a lot of protection just like a human child would.
" I have to get rid of this thing" he thought to himself.
" should I terminate its life on the spot " he said silently
" No No, I can't do any of that " He shrugged
" Why the hell did that even cross my mind in the first place"
He thought disgusted by the audacity of it.
his parents had never taught him and his brother to be cruel towards any living creature, every single form of life is important.
his father would always say
" every single thing you see here on this earth, was put there for a reason and it had its purpose for being there so the concept that some things and peoples lives are worth more than the other is nonsensical "
That particular memory hit deep, then and there Bragi made a rather bold decision considering the situation at hand.
" I will care for this creature and protect it, although I have no idea what the hell you is I'm doing " He almost chuckled to himself.
" are we doing everything in my power to ensure the survival of this hatchling ".
He was determined to do everything in his power to learn more about dragons, ask from people wiser than him or people have had some experience but he would first tell his friend so they would both head to the library and learn as much as they humanly can about the dragon.
But he wasn't sure how Heimdall would react to this, Bragi I was hoping he wouldn't freak out and make more mess of the situation than it already is. But he trusted him although he could be a total jackass sometimes.
As Bragi was deep in his own thoughts and was far away into his own world, He heard something or saw something he wasn't sure.
The dragon let out what seemed like a little burp and a little spark appeared followed by a tiny little cloud of of dark smoke. it was really cute but at the same time Bragi felt a cold sweat run down his spine When he came to his second realization.
He'd been standing there for about five minutes and the baby dragon didn't even panic, it wasn't nervous and it was moving towards him like it wanted comfort. Bragi couldn't put his finger on it but it was something about the creature that made him want to be a protector all of a sudden.
Dawn was fast approaching, Bragi could already see faint streaks of the golden orange that came with early morning sunrise. He thought about moving the dragon back into his room but He ultimately decided that to stay inside the chicken coop would be the best option for now since they had no chicken to put in there anyway and you will show nobody was going to come looking.
It same to dragon didn't have the ability to make fire yet well it was just a hatchling anyway so he was thankful for that, although he hadn't heard anything he was worried about the dragon making sound that would alarm anyone in the house.
He had an idea, He was going to take some hides and cover the opening of the coop with it, It was going to serve us insulation and provide warmth for the dragon. He jokingly marvelled at his own genius and said to himself
" Heart of a warrior and mind of a philosopher " He said in a low tone chucking at his own silliness.
He then imagined what Heimdall would say if he was there.
" why would Dragons need warmth, they have all the fire in them... Literally " He would then wear a foolish grin on his face. Then they would both burst out into Laughter.
