MOMENT WITH THE BOSS.

CHAPTER 18: MOMENT WITH THE BOSS.

"Now, this is what they called suit. Don't ever come to the office wearing those local suits of yours again," Ava said, as Kane got back to the office with his new look.

"Yes ma'am! Thank you ma'am. I love them," Kane appreciated, though, he saw a different reaction from the boss than he expected. He coldly walked back to his desk, feeling disappointed.

He thought, he was going to have a happy moments with his boss after seeing him wearing one of those suits she got for him. But he got the opposite of what he expected.

Kane sat down on his chair, going through some files on his desk from the previous assistant. He didn't like what the previous assistant left on the desk, as everything wasn't excellently arranged. So he took his time, putting things together the way he likes it.

He stood up from his desk holding a file, heading to Ava's table so he could ask questions and get clarification.

"Yes?" Ava asked, looking at Kane as he approached her table.

"I wasn't too clear with this ma'am," Kane said, placing the file on the table.

"What don't you understand there? Look, I don't have time for this okay. Go through it again and you will understand," Ava said, denying him the opportunity of getting things right.

"Ma'am - "

"Go back to your desk. I will called you when I need you," Ava interrupted.

"Okay ma'am," Kane said, walking back to his desk wondering where he was going to start from.

"Get me my schedules," Ava requested.

"Huh? Right away ma'am," Kane responded, wondering, because he hadn't prepared any schedule since he resumed work.

But smart Kane does not want to be fired. So he quickly grabbed the book, opening it page after page. He was lucky to find out that Ava's schedules were updated till date by the formal assistant. He quickly grabbed the book and walked to her table, and informed her of her schedules.

"You have a meeting with Lady Wilfred by 1pm ma'am," Kane reported.

"1pm?" Ava asked, looking at Kane.

"Yes ma'am. And you have another meeting with Mr Smith from Texas by 3pm."

"What time is it now?" Ava asked.

"This is 11:46 ma'am," Kane responded, looking at his wristwatch.

"What is that on your hand?" Ava asked, staring at Kane's hand.

"A book ma'am," Kane responded, wondering what she was talking about.

"I mean, that on your wrist."

"Oh, it's a wristwatch ma'am."

"Take that off. Because you just gave me a wrong time now. This is 11:39, not 11:46," she said, looking at her wristwatch.

"Oh! Am sorry about that ma'am," Kane apologized, and quickly took off the wristwatch, holding it on his left hand.

"Trash it I mean," Ava asked, glaring at him.

"Huh! I love the wristwatch ma'am. It was a birthday gift from my dad before he passed on," Kane said.

"That was a birthday gift?" Ava asked, and chuckled awkwardly at Kane. She could actually have time to talk about things she doesn't like. But she wasn't able to respond to Kane when he needed an assistant to Clearfy himself.

"Trash that or you are fired," Ava angrily said, frowning her brows.

"Please ma'am, I promise never to wear it to the office again. But don't ask me to trash it," Kane calmly and respectfully pleaded, looking downward.

"Get out of my sight!" Ava yelled.

"But you have-"

"I don't like repeating myself," she interrupted Kane.

Kane quietly walked back to his desk, seeing there was nothing else he could say.

"Stinking fool," Ava insulted, hissing as she continued with her work.

"Why is she this difficult in god's name?" Kane wonders, as he sat down on his chair. He was already getting tired of Ava just few days working with her.

"She hates everything I do. I bet this is why she keeps changing staffs every day," Kane mumbled. He couldn't stay back without letting her know of her next schedule. So he stood up and confidently walked back to her.

"Pardon me ma'am. You have the last meeting for the day with the heads of department by 4pm ma'am," Kane quickly reported.

"Good. Send a mail to Lady Wilfred, inform her that the meeting has been cancelled."

"Alright ma'am," Kane responded, wondering why she decided to cancel the meeting. But he couldn't ask, even though he needed to know.

"Get yourself ready, we are heading out for a meeting immediately," she instructed.

"Alright ma'am," Kane responded, and quickly walked to his desk. He quickly grabbed his writing materials and picked his phone from his desk and headed back to her table.

"Make sure you be at your best disposal, as I won't conduct any form embarrassment from you," Ava wornned him, as it was going to be her first time going out for a meeting with him.

"Yes ma'am. I will be at my best behavior."

"Good. Get my things to the car," she ordered him, as she quickly rounded up with what she was doing.

Kane quickly grabbed her things and headed out.

"She have a meeting," Kane reported to Marty as he got outside, meeting him in the car.

"Where?" Marty asked Kane, thinking Kane was aware as he should.

"I don't know," Kane responded.

"You're joking! Why don't you know?" Marty asked, and chuckled awkwardly.

"Look, you know your boss better than I do okay. Stop acting other wise," Kane angrily said, he was tired of Marty making jest of him, as though he doesn't know how difficult his boss was.

"Welcome into the world of Ava moure. The president of Sky gate hotel," Marty said, stretching his right hand to shake Kane, trying not to laugh.

"No thanks. You aren't helping matters at all," Kane said, still holding the things.

"I won't lie. You have to be smart enough if you want to stay long in this job. I have a lot to tell you, but I just needed to know the kind of person that you are," Marty said, as he was begining to like Kane.

"Please open the car door," Kane requested, as he was tired of holding the things.

"Am opening the door for you for the last time," Marty said, as he opened the door.

Kane kept Ava's things in the car and stood outside the car waiting for her. Marty stood by the car, waiting for her as well.

"How long have you been working for her?" Kane asked, wondering.

"As long as I could remember," Marty responded.

"And you haven't resigned? I heard how often she usually changes her assistants," Kane said, wondering.

"My case is kinda different. Am a family member, and also, I knew her kind of person before I began working for her," Marty responded.

"Oh! I see. I can say you're a smart guy then," Kane complimented, and smiled softly.

"You think so?" Marty asked, looking at Kane.

"Yeah. I mean for working with such a person for this long. Hmm, you deserve an award," Kane said.

"You're funny. She isn't that difficult as people thinks though," Marty said.

"I can't believe that. Just few days with her, am already getting tired," Kane opened up.

"Just give it time okay. You will get to understand her," Marty encouraged him.

"But you were hard on me as well though," Kane said, and chuckled softly.

"Yeah. That's how I was instructed to act," Marty asked.

"Oh, she's here," Kane said, as he saw Ava approaching the car.

Marty quickly opened the car door so she could go in.

"What were you two discussing and laughing about?" Ava asked, as she had noticed them while on her way to the car.

Kane and Marty looked at each other, wondering what to say.
