Lara looked at the man unbelievingly. Rich people sure have time on their hands. Why is he still here?
"I told you I'll take you home." Said Alex as he opened the door of the backseat for her.
"There's no need, Sir." Insist Lara "I'm not far from here."
That's true. She only needed to walk down the street a little. This is also a decent area since her parents had also left her their house. That's why she and Jenny had always been close. They attend all their schools together and also neighbors.
"I insist." Alex' eyes dimmed when she called her 'sir'. Though he himself don't know why. They are strangers and it is only polite to be formal. He is pleased when she obediently went in the car.
They stopped in front of a two storey house with not one light on. Does she live on her own? Where is her husband? Or her parents?
Lara alighted the car and look for her keys in her purse. But in the dark she can't seem to find it. She frowned, her purse is small and she doesn't bring a lot. Where is it?
Alex silently took Luke from her, seeing she can't find her keys. Lara lighted her phone but as she feared, the keys weren't there. Oh God! She looked at Alex but he shook his head negatively.
"But you poured out my purse awhile ago." She pouted.
"Then let's go back." He turned around back to the car still carrying Luke with him.
"Sorry for the trouble." She mumbled while she followed him.
"I troubled you first." He was quite happy to spend more time with Lara. She intrigued him. Apart from his mother and Sandra, all the girls he met constantly try to charm him one way or another. Only Lara fainted at the first sight of him. He chuckled remembering that.
If his guess is right, she is a single mother. And knowing she has no man with her right now pleased him too. Hmmmn, same face as the woman he married but they give him different feelings. Contrary to the timid girl with him right now, Crystal is a chatterbox. She is very cheerful, the air of a spoiled heiress hang around her, has a sharp tongue and stalk him till she give him migraine.
Thinking of Crystal, he felt worried again. He may not love her like a lover, but that girl grew up before his eyes. Annoying she may seem but she's not bad.
She left without a trace the day they got married. After signing the certificates, they just went to her home as she said she needed to get some personal things to move with him.
But she was never seen again. He had been talking to her grandparents in the living room when they noticed it took her quite a long time in her room. So they asked a maid to fetch her but the maid only came back with a handwritten note.
'Dear Grandpa, Grandma & Alex,
Thank you for making my dreams come true.
Love, Crystal xoxo'
She left in a cab waiting for her on the curve. The cab driver said he dropped her off at the train station. And she was never found in any cctv footages again. She might have disguised herself. So they waited for her to use any of her cards, or any mention of her name. But she never did.
The elders are dead worried about her. She never called even once. Thank heavens both of them are quite healthy. They never blamed Alex either as they can't find anything that will put the blame on him. Eventually they blame themselves for spoiling her too much and just wish that she'll be found soon.
He looked at the rearview mirror and noticed that Lara had fallen asleep with Luke still in her arms. He lowered the airconditioning as they might catch a cold. And then wondered where is the son of a bitch who donated a sperm to give birth to Luke and then gone.
While he is delighted that Lara has no man in her life, he is not yet sure about that until Assistant Cheng hand him over his report on Lara. And he can also imagine how hard it is to single handedly brought up a child. And she is so young!
Ah, all these questions need to wait tomorrow. But then again, if she is single, what does he intend to do? Though the wife is missing, he is still very much married. And that spoiled woman he calls his wife may just appear as sudden as she was gone.
