"What does he even want? And he has the nerves to approach you? After everything he did? Some people are just born of the devil" She rants on despite the fact that I told her not to worry about it.
"Let's forget about him cause I didn't even talk to him. I told him to stay the fuck away from me" I tell them and they both agreed that I did the right thing.
"Oh and I met dad today."
"Awwn. How is Daddy P?" Mia inquires and I tell her that he's okay. I further went on to tell them what happened at his office today.
"Shut up. No way" they gasped
"I don't know if I should be happy for him or just sad"
"You should be happy. If your mom and dad couldn't work out their differences then maybe it's time for him to move on and make some new memories. Life's too short" Gina advises and even though I know that deep down it's true, I can't help but not accept it.
Call me selfish but I don't care.
"And plus don't spoil it for me. If he's happy then it only means I'm getting a bigger gift for my wedding" she clasps her hand dreamily.
"You did tell him right?"
"Of course I did. He asked about you so how could I not"
"Thank you but I'll still have to tell him officially. He's my dad after all"
Dad has really spoilt all my friends, he got Gina a car for her previous birthday and bought the space that Mia uses for her restaurant. He treats us like his little girls and because of that no one can mess with us.
One time, he locked up a guy that threatened to harass Gina and that's where she met her husband. He was the policeman that locked him up.
"How's Damien by the way?"
"He's on night patrol so I'll see him in the morning"
"I still can't believe that you both are getting married" I stated "it's so surreal. Feels like yesterday when you were flirting with him at the precinct" I comment and we all laugh out loud.
"I didn't think she would do it. Gina took one look at him and decided that she's ready to settle down and we all know Gina" we laughed out loud again.
"I felt something okay and I just knew he was the one. Plus, he's the one who insisted we tie the knot. I'm not really forcing him" she mused and we go quiet for a few seconds before bursting into another fit of laughter.
"You're enjoying this aren't you"
"Every bit of it" I jokingly say and we proceed to discuss about other issues.
We decided to call it a night about an hour later, but that was before we blow kisses and tell each other how much we love ourselves.
I make a post on my personal profile and empty the content of my wine glass before I log off. I place the glass on the sink and enter my room to sleep.
I am about to go under the covers when my phone beeps and I pick it up to look at the screen. It was a message from an unsaved number.
I open it and one look at it, I already know who it was. Trevor.
It reads : Good evening honey, hope you had a wonderful day. I know you probably won't reply so just called to check up on you. Have a good night rest. Your loving friend, Trevor.
I stare at my screen and blink twice. If he thinks he can butter me up with this piece of message then he has another thing coming.
He was right about one thing though. I won't reply to that message.
I quickly turn off my phone and close my eyes to catch a good night sleep.
*.*.*
"I'm sorry I couldn't tell you child" he apologizes but I choose to remain silent. "I honestly wanted to tell you at the dinner I planned at home and not like this" he adds while I just looked on.
"It's okay dad. I'm happy for you" I'm not sure I mean it though. "I just thought that maybe you and mom would try to work it out"
"Your mom already made up her mind and I can't convince her otherwise but I know that she loves you dearly"
I nod, feeling speechless.
"Ava is very nice" he speaks up with a broad smile on his face "you'll love her when you get to know her"
"Maybe with time I would"
He squeezes my hand lovingly "I'm not forcing you to. Take all the time you need but always remember that no matter what happens, you'll always be my little girl"
"Thanks dad"
Dad leaves and I drown myself with work. As much I want to be genuinely happy, I just can't but I really hope that I learn to.
I knock off late from work and is about to drive off when I notice another car parked at the entrance of my store.
I wind down and so does this person. He steps down and walks towards my car while I stare at his perfectly built up body with broad shoulders. His hair is neatly gelled and he is wearing a black suit that accentuates his body. If I wasn't going through a heart break, I won't mind making my move but what I don't understand is why he is approaching my car.
"Hello Miss Williams"
"Trevor?" I guess and he smiles. I quickly step down from my car "what are you doing here? Are you stalking me? How do you even know where I work?" I was shocked. Surprise would be an understatement.
"Told you I love a good challenge and since you didn't respond to my message last night, I just thought I'd check up on you"
I laugh "you didn't? Boy did you just make a mistake. Anyways you haven't answered my question. How did you know where I work? How?"
"I have my ways"
"You're a sick person" i voiced out but he laughs catching me off guard.
"So how about dinner? To catch up?" He proposes "and I won't take no for an answer" he was quick to add when he noticed I wanted to disapprove.
"Come on. It's just dinner" he coaxed trying to make me change my mind. "One dinner with me won't hurt trust me"
"You don't give up do you?"
"Not until I get what I want" he replies
"Okay then. Do you have any place in mind?"
"I know a restaurant not very far from here. Their meals are delicious. I've tried every single one and I still can't get enough" he exclaims and I give a low chuckle.
"Lead the way" I say before I get into my car and wait for him to pull out first.
I drive closely behind him and in less than thirty minutes, we arrive at our destination. This nigga brought me to Mia's restaurant. I want to laugh but decide to play along.
I hop down from my car and so does he. He gestures towards the door and we both walk inside.
We find an empty spot and he pulls out the chair for me to sit down before taking his seat behind me. What a gentleman.
The waitress finally approaches our table to take our orders.
"The usual" I tell her and she nods.
"The usual?" He asks with furrowed brows and I simply nod. "Wait you've been here before?"
I laugh and he flushed feeling embarrassed.
"My Friend owns this place. I eat here all the time"
"It must have been... nevermind" He said with a scrunched up face but I'm not having any of that.
"You were right about one thing though" I paused "Her meals are delicious" i acknowledged and he smiles.
Our meal was served and I dig in immediately it was placed on our table. Trevor tries to make small conversation here and there and I reply to the one I find interesting and Ignore the ones I find boring.
",So..." I began with pursed lips "tell me about yourself?"
He breathed out before saying "I actually live in Florida but I own a business here in California so I travel a lot. I was bored the other day so I decided to check out the club and that's when I met you" he excitedly and I just nod.
"By the way, what were you even doing there. You had a lot to drink and gave us quite a show"
"Us?"
"Me and the bar" he answered and I laugh
"I had a lot on my mind so that was the only place I knew I could vent out my frustrations" I replied truthfully although not telling him what the actual problem was that made me go to the club that particular day.
