Family of the Sunflower

Ever since Alektrona watched a movie about faeries, she always believed in supernaturals. When people told her there are no such things as supernatural, she always replied, "If there are no such things as supernaturals, where did the myths and legends come from? Imagination? Hallucination? I don't know! But I would love to know and meet one," She says it with a bright smile but, once she meets their confused gaze, she looks back at them with the same confusion as them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who believes in spirits and faeries... right...? " And look at them expectation in her eyes. Her answer makes others fall speechless apart from her grandmother, who loves Greek mythology. Although Alek believes in the existence of supernaturals, she's never encountered one. God knows how many books she's read about Supernaturals. Alek talked to everything she sees and asks them, "When will you guys finally show up to me and start a conversation? I wouldn't tell anybody! I just want to meet you guys so that I couldn't die happily. So I'll be here, waiting for you guys to show up and talk to me." *********** Alek sneakily entered the room and was greeted by a boy facing toward the window opposite the door that she just entered. She thought he was Kai. She prepared to scare him. But before she tried to do anything, he snapped his neck to where she was standing. She was caught off guard. But what she saw next was enough for her brain to stop functioning. "What the..." Alek could not continue. The boy looked like her dead brother, Aether. *********** "They are not friendly, especially the Shiwasu." Astraea told her niece. "If you can't prove that you are able to replace her, then we are all doomed." Everyone was listening to her with serious faces, even the youngest looked like she knew that would be the end. "I will prove it." Alek spoke with determination in her eyes. ------------------ This is the story about shape-shifters and some parts are written in Japanese in roman alphabet as this book contains a little bit of Japanese culture and tradition. Reaching Out To Everyone

"Yes?" Bia asked from inside the door. She didn't know who it was since she didn't recognise the person visiting her mind. "Who is this?" She asked when that person wasn't speaking. She didn't go into her mind to talk. For shifters, there were light telepathy and telepathy. The light one is when they do not go into their mind to talk. It had a disadvantage of short-range. Meaning people would only be able to connect with her when they were close. The normal telepathy was long-ranged. It was the opposite of short-ranged as they could communicate when they were far.

"Hey..." Alek finally responded.

"Alek?!" Bia immediately went into long-ranged and saw her sister in her mind. "What the heck?"

"Jin and Rin taught me." Her sister smiled shyly at her. Her face was flushed and, her eyes were beaming with pride. Bia could see Alek was happy and proud to finally be able to do this.

"Oh." It was her first time hearing her sister in her mind. Her voice sounded more clear. "How is it?"

"Like oh my God. I feel like I'm dreaming." Alek smiled.

"Well, it's a good thing. Until where have you learnt?"

"Only this. They said if I master this, then they will teach me group chat in the head." She giggled and came over to her sister. Even though they touched, they couldn't feel anything. It was different from Aether because, for him, they couldn't even touch him.

"Alright."

"Yeah. What were you doing when I came?" Alek asked after removing her hands from her sister's shoulders.

"I was chilling. Reading a book." Bia told her sister. She was reading the book that Alek recommended. She wasn't done with it.

"Oh, okay. Well, sorry to interrupt you. You go back and read while I will continue to do this to everyone." Alek slowly walked away.

"Okay." Before Alek could get out, she was brought back to reality. She found herself sitting on the bed while the twins were looking at her. They have been chatting about the plans to go to their grandmother.

"Hey. I thought you were with Bia." Rin spoke.

"I was. But when I was done talking and was leaving, I came back. How is that possible?" Her eyebrows were knitted together.

"That's because she shut you out." Jin giggled. "If you are in one's mind and they go back to the physical world, you will be brought back."

"Oh... Got it. Now it's time to reach other people." Alek cracked her neck before repeating. This time she found two doors on the opposite of Bia's. She approached the doors and sensed that it was her brother and cousin. One was red, and the other was orange. The red belonged to Iris and, the orange belonged to Kai. She knocked on the orange door and, the door opened after a moment. "Hi, Kai..." She said as she walked in.

"Alek. I didn't expect you to be here." Kai welcomed her with himself standing in the middle. He had his usual bored face.

"Yeah, I just learnt how to do it. Now I'm just testing and trying." Alek answered.

"Rin and Jin taught you. From now, you wouldn't need to shout for me when I'm in my room, and you're in your room." Kai raised his eyebrows.

"I'll still shout in here." Alek smiled. "Is Iris here?"

"Yep, do you want me to call her?"

"No, I wanted to confirm if it was really Iris. Anyway, I need to go to dad and mum. Byee." Alek told him.

"Bye." This time, she was thrown back to reality. Kai left his head when she left his.

"I'm back!" Alek smiled.

"You don't need to come back to the physical world every single time." Rin told her with a smile.

"Once you get out of the room, you continue." Jin continued while he also had a smile. Even though they were non-identical twins, they looked like when they smiled. Their eyes became crescent and, there were slight traces of dimples on their cheeks. For Rin, his right side had a darker shade of dimple while his brother was the opposite. Jin had a darker shade of dimple on his left.

"I didn't know that. Let me do that." Alek closed her eyes and tried to find the doors she hadn't discovered. She found another two doors farther away from her. One was turquoise and, the other was maroon. She felt that turquoise was her mother while the maroon was her father. She hesitated for a moment before she knocked on the certain door.

"Yes?"

"It's me, mum." Alek entered her mother's head.

"Oh, my dear! Did the twins teach you this? It's amazing!" Panacea rushed to her daughter and hugged her even though they could not feel each other.

"Alek's here?" Robin appeared out of nowhere and saw his wife and daughter hugging each other.

"Yes!" His wife replied and pulled away from Alek. "I am so happy that you are grasping the shapeshifters ethnics!"

"I am happy too. It's easier to get a private space and talk to."

"You can talk to me in here anytime you want, sweetie." Panacea told her daughter.

"Thanks, mum." Alek told her.

"My lov-."

"Don't my love me. I'm not done with you." Panacea sudden;y turned towards her husband with a glare that looked like it could physically hurt him. She was angry with him and gave him lectures when Alek came for a visit.

"Mum-" Before Alek could finish, she was brought back to the physical world. Her mother had shut her out. Her mother seemed angry and, she was going t say she was leaving. Good thing she had shut her out.

"I guess you didn't succeed in continuation." Once again, the twins stopped their conversations when they found their cousin back.

"Yep. But I will succeed the next time." She closed her eyes again and looked for doors. She found two doors close to Kai and Bia. She went to it and stood in front of them. They were for Astraea and Lake. For her aunt, it was cream and, for her uncle, it was baby pink. She knocked on the cream-coloured door and entered when it opened.

"Hi aunti."

"Hey Alek." Astraea walked to her niece and did the same thing as Panacea. Hugging her. "You know how to mind link now. I'm proud of you."

"Hey Alek." Lake came in just like her father into their wives heads.

"Hi uncle."

"I'm also proud of you." You tapped her head.

"Thank you." Alek smiled at them.

"Do you know what this can do? We can save money." Astraea told her niece suspiciously.

"What do you mean?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"Meaning if we use this, you don't need a phone to call us. The distance is limited but, it's long." Lake ended what his wife was trying to say.

"Oh... That's smart."

"I know! It's a gift to the shifters. At least they should give us this ability since we have short lives." Astraea exclaimed.

"Oh yeah. Uncle, I was going to ask my dad about it but, I didn't get the chance so can I ask you instead?" Alek remembered the whole 'how can Jin be the next head of Mutsuki and,he is not first born's first born'.

"Shoot." Lake told her.

"I was wondering how Jin is the next head of Mutsuki since he is not the first born's firstborn. You and aunti are not firstborns. So how can Jin be one? Mum and dad told me it's only the firstborn's firstborn who can become heads. Or, at least that's what I heard."

"You are not entirely wrong. So when your dad entered Minazuki's clan, he was no longer considered a Mutsuki in the bloodline. It's only on the inside, though. Your grandpa and grandma are still happy to see you and your father. Anyway, since he is not a Mutsuki anymore, I became like the 'only son' in the family. And thus made me the 'firstborn'. So that's how Jin can be the next head." Lake tried to explain things easy. He didn't know if his niece got that, though.

"Ahh, now I understand. Can't you guys take the position of next in line, as the British royal family?" Alek asked. Her mother was much more suited to become the next head than her.

"We could but, we didn't want to. Also, it's the head who chooses who to become next." Lake told her with a smile. He and his wife, Robin and Panacea, never wanted to become heads. It was too much work. Lake had almost taken his position if it weren't for his sons birth. His father, Johan, saw the twins and announced Castor was going to be the next head. The same thing went for his brother's family but was later changed when Aether died and, Alek came next in line.

"So you duck passed your responsibilities to us?"

"Pretty much." Lake told her shamelessly with a smile. Alek was amazed by her aunt and uncle and, she couldn't say anything. It was too late to retire from the next in line. She didn't want to abandon her responsibilities like the people in front of her. Plus, she kind of looked forward to becoming the head.

"Okay... I understood. I will leave now. Bye." Se walked tiredness.

"Okay. Bye." The couple had their arms around each other and waved at her peacefully. They truly had no shame. Alek waved her hands at them with tiredness apparent and left to the physical world.

"You are back." Jin commented. "What's wrong?" He saw his cousin was not hyper anymore.

"Stuff." Alek spoke before she reached out for the tray that had the food and continued eating while her two cousins stared at her with curiosity.
