Chapter 26
The tension was very high in the council room because of Arthur's question and the way he asked it. The whole council members including Bryce Lucas were all angry with the way Arthur talked with the council.
"You sure have some nerve talking to the council like that, boy." Xandros said angrily with his eyes glowing red.
The alliance were all intimidated all apart from Arthur.
"Calm down everyone" Lee said while chuckling. "Boy, do you care to explain what you meant by your question"
"I want to know why the council abandoned us when the Nightstalker attacked." Arthur questioned. "Why was there no backup? Why did the leaders not fight. Weren't you meant to be the strongest of our kind?"
"we are not obliged to answer any of your questions, got it?" Clark said angrily.
"Well we need an explanation for what the council did." Arthur retorted. "Or are we not supposed to know why the council abandoned us to die."
"The council didn't abandon you kiddo" Lee replied.
Feeling the bloodlust in the air, Lee decided to interfere.
"Will the rest of you calm down. The kids need to know why we acted the way we did." Lee said trying to calm the situation down.
"You see" Lee continued "We didn't abandon you guys. It was just that the situation made it seem like we abandoned you. You see anytime the Nightstalker appeared in the past, he always targets the settlement."
"Either he comes by himself or he sends some kind of dangerous and powerful creatures to attack the settlement."
"Since the settlement is very important to us and its our home, we decided to stay thinking that it was gonna be attacked but it was a good thing you managed to unlock the heart of the vampire and took the fight to him instead of waiting for him here." Lee explained.
Listening to this, Arthur was still confused about something and he needed clarification.
"Ok, I understand that but there's still something am confused about." Arthur said.
"You can ask what you want to ask." Lee said smiling.
"Why does the Nightstalker hate the settlement so much. And why did we not know of him until the day he came to attack us." Arthur questioned.
"You can not know about that. It's none of your business. It is the council's business." Xandros snapped.
"It is my business. Should I remind the council that they owe us for what we did. And I don't need to remind all of you that if the Nightstalker appears again that am your best bet at defeating him." Arthur snapped back.
"What audacity." Edward said angrily ready to unleash his powers at any moment.
"Calm down everyone. We don't need to fight over such a petty issue." Lee said calmly.
"What's wrong with you Lee?" Xandros asked. "You are usually the one who doesn't tolerate impudence. And your family are well known for their hotheadedness. Especially you, so what now happened to you? Have you lost your guts. Because I don't understand how you can calmly sit there and let a kid talk to us anyhow."
Lee smiled and calmly replied Xandros.
"You do know if I was to show my hotheadedness, I would have burnt both you and Arthur to the ground. But anger won't get us anywhere in this meeting, so let's all be calm. Okay?"
They all quietly sat down and decided to let Lee do all the talking. Meanwhile the alliance all had something on their mind.
"How could Arthur speak with the council so boldly and rudely? Even if he has the Heart Of The Vampires in him, I don't think he can take all the council on at once. I don't know about the rest, but if a fight were to break out, I will side with my leader." Sophia thought.
"How dare he! How dare Arthur talk to my father like that. Damnnn, I so wish he hadn't unlocked the Heart of the vampire yet, I would have burnt him to a crisp already. I still don't know why my dad is calm, normally he is more hotheaded than I am so what happened to him all of a sudden?" Zeph thought angrily.
"I hope Arthur knows what he's doing because I don't know what reason he has to try to antagonize the council like that." Axel thought worried about Arthur's train of thought.
"This boy has turned gutsy. I just hope he knows what he's doing." Felix thought.
"What is Arthur thinking? What is suddenly wrong with him? Is it because he has the Heart of the vampire that's why he is arrogant. Does he think he can take the council all on? This is the best of the best, the most strongest Vampire at the table right now." Bryce thought worriedly.
"This kid sure has some guts talking to us anyhow. I would have burnt him down by now but I have to maintain my composure in order to get what I want." Lee thought.
"Well am I gonna get my answers now or what?" Arthur asked.
"Well the Nightstalker hates the vampire settlement because of the council." Lee explained.
"What do you mean by that? I don't understand." Arthur questioned.
"Well it's not the current council that he's angry at. It's more like the first council that ever existed." Lee clarified.
"What do you mean by that? Why will he be angry at the council." Arthur questioned again.
"Boy, you have no patience at all." Lee said. "I was just getting to that but you won't lemme talk peacefully."
"Am sorry, I was just curious that's why." Arthur apologized.
The youngsters at the table all seated properly so they could understand what happened in the past.
They were also curious to know more about the Nightstalker ever since he appeared. Especially Sophia who has been studying the Vampires past.
"Well the Nightstalker hates all Vampires because of the past council" Lee continued. "He's angry because the council of the past banished him away."
"What do you mean banished?" Arthur asked visibly confused.
"Well the Nightstalker isn't a demon as you all think he is." Lee said.
"Well if he's not a demon then what is he? Because I don't know how else you're gonna describe how he is. Because all of us saw the Nightstalker and he looked like a demon straight from hell." Arthur said.
"Well he's one of us." Lee said.
