13. Taking a quest

We reached the cathedral by 6:50 and the rest of the group was already present there. We went to a famous restaurant for dinner and talked about our day with each other.

It seems they already bought a house for us to stay in. It's a 2 storey villa, a small distance away from the East forest with no other people living nearby.

After dinner, we went to our new home which had already been cleaned by Nina and Yuna, I explored the house with Erza which was very beautiful, both from inside and outside, we decided to call it a day and went to sleep.

(Next day)

It is early in the morning and I am at the guild alone as Erza is starting her training with Irene today. I went towards the mission board and skimmed through it.

After careful consideration, I took 3 B rank missions, 2 of them about finding some materials while the last one is a bandit subjugation and went towards gramps who was sitting on the barstool to get approved.

After he saw me with 3 sheets of paper, he asked me with raised eyebrows "Are you sure you want to take all 3 of them?"

After I replied positively, he observed the mission details and asked me to follow him to the training ground at the back of the guild.

"El, I know you are strong but I still have to make sure that you are capable enough to do this mission" he said seriously after walking a few distance away from me.

"I understand"

"Good, then strike me with your strongest blow"

I didn't say anything and raised my hands in a sword holding position in which a sword made of light materialized. 'I wasn't going to argue with him. He is a wizard Saint and it would be arrogance to think that I can harm him'.

I took a deep breath and turned myself into light to rush at him, but to the onlookers which was only Laxus thinking that no one noticed him, it looked like I vanished.

As soon as I got close to him, I put more magic into my sword and swung it at his shoulder with my full strength. I observed him to see how he would react to that.

I had thought that he would dodge it but, he just casually lifted his right arm and held my sword with his hand coated in magic. I felt like I had hit a mountain while he didn't even flinch a little.

"Oh.., you are quite strong for your age." He commented off handedly." Fine, you can take these missions but El" and then his face turned serious and he continued "don't let your guard down as anything can happen in the wild, especially for this 3rd quest, I have a fishy feeling about that one. "

I understood his worries and replied in an equally serious tone" I understand."

"When will you leave?"

"Around an hour or so"

"I see, good luck kid"

"Thanks, see you gramps" After that, I left and returned home to tell the guys about my quest. Erza was warming up in the backyard and the others were also busy so I just told Irene and asked her to convey it to others.

She just gave me some advice and precautions and a space ring which is basically enchanted with space magic to provide a large storage in a small and efficient way. She had enchanted it specially for me and had filled it with all kinds of things she thought would be useful to me ranging from a large number of gold coins to a nail cutter.

After saying goodbye to her, I headed towards the town's gate to leave the town.
