Chapter 27

Deep within the confines of her home, a small little doll lay resting on a large velvet sofa, clutching her fuzzy bear as she breathed softly. It was a habit for Ali to take a nap whenever she felt tired - a convenient method of energy generation after a long day of chores and stress. Even as she relaxed in her owner's safe home, the doll couldn't help but worry every time her friend Salem was gone.

"Wake up sleepy!" A high-pitched voice whispered into her ear. "You've still got things to do."

Ali shifted her body, muttering to herself as she squeezed the nagging bear. Thanks mostly to the fabric of her dress, she was able to sleep just about anywhere and was considerably difficult to wake. Even as Bear-Bear tried to wiggle her way out of the doll's arms there was no chance of escape.

"I swear if you weren't so soft and squishy," Bear-Bear threatened. "I'd bop you right on the nose! WAKE UP ALI!"

"Wah?!" Ali gasped, nearly jumping out of the couch as she opened her eyes. "What is it?"

"You've been sleeping for seven hours honey..."

"Oh," the doll frowned, pulling at the rim of her tight collar as she attempted to fix her appearance. "I apologize."

"Whatever," Bear-Bear waved her paw as she jumped out of Ali's open hands. "I'm gonna go eat a cookie."

"Don't eat them all!" Ali called out, watching her little friend scuttle her way up towards the pantry.

The doll then released a deep sigh, tugging on the ends of her skirt before walking down the hall. During her daily routine, it was important to clean and maintain each segment of the house, as well as checking in on Salem's various family members to ensure they were behaving. As she walked past the castellum, she was completely unsurprised to find Corian and Valor sparring, their tall frames surrounded by the frozen Vornex.

"Right where you should be," Ali nodded before realizing a slight shiver. "Now to find Sorrow and Regret."

Along the way the doll made sure to fasten her black bow and pick up a broom, sweeping every segment of the outer walkways. Thanks to her small cloggers, there was little risk of falling as she once did, proving her mastery over her clumsy past. But as Ali made her way into the hot springs, she failed to maintain her awareness, slipping on a loose towel and tumbling onto the ground.

"Ow!" Ali winced, closing one eye as she held her back. "Salem you need to put things away once you've used them!"

Thinking of her lazy friend, the doll then began to blush, holding the edges of her skirt as she regained her footing. It was once unusual for Ali to care about such things as exposure and imaginary scenarios, but after her newfound tension with the red mother, it was hard not to pretend she was being watched. Nevertheless, Ali continued her routine as if nothing had happened.

"If she were here," Ali frowned, looking down to see her bruised thigh. "I need a longer skirt."

"Or maybe," the doll continued as she fixed her surroundings. "A shorter one? Would she like that? Oh, I don't know what to do."

"How about a mix of cute and slutty?" A voice called out to the doll.

"Eek!" Ali gasped, once again falling to the ground. "Don't scare me like that!"

Located just beneath the bathhouse stool sat a brown bear, munching on it's cookie as it stared at Ali. Despite her small frame, Bear-Bear was seemingly capable of traveling long distances in a short time - a feat Ali could never understand based on what she had seen. If Bear-Bear was so fast she wondered, why would she bother to waddle around so slowly whenever she was being watched?

"Listen honey," Bear-Bear mumbled with her mouth full of cookie. "You gotta master a balance."

"What do you mean?" Ali winced, picking herself of the floor.

"Just look at you. Cute and wholesome. But with that decent outfit of yours, you're hiding some of the goods. You gotta wear something just a bit lewder, but not TOO lewd as to ruin your wholesome appearance. Tease them with what they can have, while also proving you're not just some common whore."

"So...a shorter skirt?" The doll paused.

"Something like that. Mix up your usual apparel, where something cute and casual instead of formal and timid. I mean you ARE timid but...that just makes the contrasting outfit cuter."

"How do you know all this?"

"I like girls," Bear-Bear laughed. "And if I was Salem, I'd be down horrendous to see you in leggings and a cut blouse."

"I didn't know a little bear could even enjoy things like that," Ali giggled.

"You really haven't been paying attention have you."

"I'll go wardrobe shopping in Alia's closet when I'm finished with chores. Thank you Bear-Bear."

"Yea don't mention it. I helped Alia with this sort of thing all the time."

"Right," Ali paused before leaving. "I'm sure you did. Do you...ever miss her?"

"Every day. But she got what she wanted little one. Don't be too sad."

"What she wanted?"

"You'll figure it out," Bear-Bear shook her head before waddling away.

But as the doll disappeared beyond the doorway, the small plushy nearly dropped her cookie, hesitating for a moment as her mind began to race.

"She's grown so much," Bear-Bear pondered. "Is she...ready to know? Maybe later."

As Ali continued to clean the mansion, she was happy to come across both Sorrow and Regret in the hallway, the pair seemingly transfixed with a painting on the wall.

"Hello you two," Ali smiled.

"Good morning sister," Sorrow waved. "Almost didn't see you there."

"I know I'm short," Ali frowned with puffed-up cheeks. "What are you two doing?"

"Korus was discussing the intricacies of art, and how a good knight can spot the little things in life," Regret explained, his eye still transfixed on the picture of a dying flower. "But I have to say...I have no clue what I'm looking at or why it matters."

"Me neither," Sorrow shrugged. "I think Korus is just weird."

"Well he's been an amazing friend to Salem," Ali nodded. "I think you just need to look outside the box. Detach your mind."

"But what is there to see?" Regret pondered.

"A dead thing for starters."

"But that's...sad. How can that be intriguing or beautiful?"

"Sometimes Regret, looking at a tragic thing can give you distinct emotions. And that in of itself is the true beauty."

"Oh, I see. The painting is meant to make us feel bad," Sorrow nodded. "How horrible."

"Well, would you prefer to look at cute animals?"

"Yes, I would!" Regret beamed.

"Follow me to the garden. We've managed to adopt some new friends lately from Salem's old friend Cora."

As the doll led her family outside, she couldn't help but smile and laugh as they awkwardly interacted with the animals scampering around the garden. In a sense, she was their second mother, shepherding their innocence while teaching new valuable lessons. Such feelings of course only made the tension with Salem feel stronger.

"Maybe this is what Alia intended," Ali sighed, stepping back as the twins began to play.

"So you've made up your mind then?" Valor spoke quietly, leaning on the doorway to Salem's room. "After what happened yesterday?"

"Yes, my child. Now or never," Salem fiddled with her hair, glaring at a large mirror as she spoke. "I won't let them control me any longer."

"Very well. And I presume you would prefer to travel alone?"

"I know it's not the safest thing but...if I can't protect her."

"You can Salem. You possess more than enough strength with your...special ability."

"That's not what I mean I-."

"You'll muster the will to fight. I have faith in you mother."

"Thank you," Salem smiled as she remembered how positive her second-born had always been. "You were always my most uplifting child you know."

"Hmph," Valor chucked. "I know. Come Mother, let's get your date started."

"Why the rush? You're the one who planned for me to get all dressed up," the red mother smirked, flicking her ponytail around her shoulder.

"Ali is getting nervous I imagine."

"Always so aware of how she's feeling. I'm surprised you didn't go for her," Salem joked.

The tall machine then stepped closer to Salem before tightening the strings on the back of her dress, proving how much he had learned from the doll.

"She is yours Salem. Treat her well, or it will be me lecturing you."

"Well look at you, all grown up," Salem laughed.

"The only grown-up here is you, judging by this apparel."

"Hey, you picked it out!"

"Actually, I picked the more decent variant. You Salem, opted for the open back."

Just as Valor had described, the red mother had been adorned in a black gown, its back section ceasing to exist from the waist up. But unlike her previous outfits, the gown excluded power, with long silver jewelry hanging from her neck and a small shoulder piece resting on her bare flesh. It was Salem's intent to look as foreboding and dominant as possible, and for once in her life, it truly seemed she was a submissive gal no longer.

"I need to make sure we contrast," Salem motioned with her prosthetic limbs, their surfaces covered in glowing red jewels.

"Well, I'm sure you will," Valor pointed to the v-shaped opening on his mother's chest. "Ali would never wear that."

Salem glared in response, unable to speak for the moment as she began putting on a subtle layer of lipstick. When all was said and done, she was more prepared than ever for her first true date. But even as she began strutting confidently out the door, Salem couldn't help but feel nervous.

"What if she-?"

"No," Valor responded abruptly. "Whatever you are thinking, the answer is likely no. Just focus on the path ahead Salem."

But for Salem, the path ahead proved to be jaw-dropping, as a small figure suddenly came into view.

"Oh my," the red mother gasped, staring intently at what appeared to be her date. "Is that an angel in the living room I see?"

"It's just Ali," Valor shrugged. "Come on now Mother. Say hello."

From what Salem could see in the distance, Ali was dressed in a white plaid skirt of sorts alongside a pair of striped stockings and boots - which when combined with her small tank top, gave the doll an overwhelming air of cuteness and femininity. As the red mother stepped forward, she couldn't help but focus on the doll more closely; her pale shoulders, smooth belly, and perfect navel proved too much to resist. Salem's admiration of her partner was so obvious in fact she could be seen staring with wide eyes and an open mouth.

"Hello Salem," Ali smiled nervously as she bowed her head. "It's good to see you."

Ali turned to face the rest of her family once more, smiling at them before preparing herself a small backpack of sorts, its tiny white surface barely large enough to fit her bear and some change.

"I uh-," Salem stammered, still taken back by the doll's petite beauty. "It's nice to see you too Ali. Shall we?"

Salem then reached out to the doll, offering her an open hand. Little did she know, the doll was trembling at the offer, her mind equally occupied by thoughts of her partner's gorgeous outfit and stunning appearance. After a few more awkward moments, the pair then held hands and strolled out the door.

"Ah look at them go," Corian smiled. "Young love."

"I don't feel like that statement works here," Regret scratched his head as the entire family watched Salem leave.

"Shut up and let me yap."

"Are you really comfortable with her leaving alone?" Sorrow paused, gesturing towards Anger who stood in silence.

"It is what she wants. What she needs," the eldest child spoke. "For now."

_______________________________

For the first time since she had entered Lacuna, Salem had decided to walk her way through to the city. It was on a warm cycle on the station's outer rim, creating a comfortable and peaceful environment as the pair strolled down the path from their home. With nothing but silence to occupy their time, Ali decided to hum a tune she had never heard.

"Did your maker teach you that?" Salem asked with a soft voice, breaking the peaceful silence as her black heels clomped against the smooth rock of Lacuna's rim. "I like it."

"No, but somehow I...remember," Ali nodded before continuing her tune.

"Ah yes. Who could forget the bits and pieces of the person you once were? Even if there is no memory of it? How strangely relatable."

The pair then continued their blissful walk, enjoying the pure air and total lack of violence every step of the way. It wasn't often they had the chance to simply enjoy something outside the safety of their home. But with every conceivable threat gone, for the time being, Salem had nothing left but the opportunity to find her motivation.

Finishing their descent, the girls began walking past a small village of homes, their wooden structures humble and antique-like Cora's. Unlike the city, the old environment gave off a much safer feeling, with practically no noise and crowd to be seen. It was here that the pair could enjoy themselves, occasionally staring into each other's soul as they continued to hold hands.

"Here, we will take the public transit towards the center," Salem gestured toward what appeared to be a mossy bus stop with her metallic hands. "It'll be fun."

"Are you sure? What if someone sees us?" Ali frowned, pointing her two fingers towards each other.

"Nothing can hurt you while I'm here Ali. That's the one thing me and myself can agree on," the red mother nodded, manifesting her flower for a brief moment as a sign of strength. "I promise."

Ali nodded silently with a shy look in her eyes before taking a seat on a small wooden bench. She then took to observing Salem, watching closely as the red mother struggled to find a way to call public transportation. After an awkward amount of time, the doll released a giggle before pointing toward a metal pole next to her bench.

"It's the button here Salem," Ali smiled squeamishly as her partner continued searching in the opposite direction.

"Oh," Salem shrugged. "Look at me. Always so smart."

"I think your lack of common sense is endearing."

"Thank you?"

"You welcome," Ali beamed.

Refusing to sit like a typical woman, Salem stood in front of the doll, watching closely for the bus like a chauffeur of sorts. She knew that if Valor or any Valekry for that matter was in charge, they would stand guard for their lady forever. But now and again, Salem would take a moment to look back and admire her achievement, completely ignoring her manly act. Ali's small frame and soft skirt were just too difficult to ignore for the red mother, even after she had already convinced herself not to stare.

"Do you want a pillow?" Ali smiled, tugging at the fringes of her skirt, its white surface decorated in a series of black vines. "There is plenty of room."

"No," Salem frowned. "Hmph. What do you take me for a child?"

"Oh no," Ali blushed. "I was just under the impression you liked my legs."

"Well...I do but that's not the point!"

The hum of a nearby vehicle interrupted the pair as a long and smooth red vessel streaked across the old neighborhood streets, its lance-shaped hull hovering toward Salem at an alarming speed.

"Well then. Here we are," Salem smiled, waving her arms at the countless windows along the side of the bus. "I hope they see us. Bet nobody uses this stop."

Just as the red mother had hoped, a Valekry pilot noticed the pair despite his vessel's great speed. He made sure to stop the bus a mere inches away from Salem before politely opening the nearest door. For the red mother, it was almost comical to see the large threatening machine act like one of her own children, constantly having to account for her own laziness.

"Watch your step please," the Valekry pilot gestured with open arms. "This road can be slippery."

As Ali attempted to step in, Salem made sure to stretch out her hand, nearly pushing the Valekry aside as she pulled the doll by her hand. It was imperative to the red mother that she seemed like the gentleman in such a moment. But for Ali, the whole act was a bit goofy, proving to her that Salem was indeed nervous.

"Headed toward the city? Then please find a seat," The Valekry nodded before closing the door.

Together the two girls walked down a narrow silver hallway lined with small seats, Salem taking the lead as she glared with her red eyes. After finding a pair of seats surrounded by various Tella, the red mother then gestured for Ali to sit first. But even as the shuttle began to move, Ali stood in silence next to her seat, unwilling to move.

Evidently, the transportation vessel was not designed purely for comfort - likely for the purpose of Tella loitering and the incentivization of getting off. Due to such a cramped space, Ali had but one seat to occupy, surrounded by several pairs of eyes staring at her.

"Very well then," Salem sighed, collecting her confidence. "Let's do it this way."

The red mother then suddenly took her seat in front of the doll before tapping her own thigh with one hand, signaling her intentions for Ali. After releasing a visible blush, Ali then took a seat on Salem's lap, spreading her legs apart as her soft skirt enveloped the larger woman's knees. The nearby Tella released something of an audible gasp as a result - making it clear to Salem just how closely she was being watched.

"Got a problem?" Salem growled, looking up at the cloud as Ali's curved bottom settled against her bare skin. "Anyone?"

Several voices then began to emanate around the pair, with some words more audible than others. In response Salem simply glared at each figure, having found her courage to defend her partner. She was no longer incapable of fighting.

"What an adorable creature. Do you think Salem is the sharing type? What do you think honey?" One short-haired Tella spoke, her larger frame sitting next to a similarly small partner.

"Want to find out?" Salem hissed, unveiling her red flower from seemingly nowhere as she carefully placed Ali in her seat. "Try me."

"You'd use that on me?!" The woman gasped in disbelief, pushing her own partner aside as she spoke. "For just a few words?"

"You're right," the red mother smirked as she brought her mechanical arm close to the Tella's face. "This will suffice."

Salem then produced something akin to a flick from her hand, the strength of which had been greatly enhanced by her metal prosthetics. The effect of such a harmless yet mighty attack was rather obvious as the Tella woman was forced back into her seat with a small wound bleeding from her head. In just one gesture, Salem had made her power to the shuttle known.

"That's right," Salem chuckled, reclaiming her own seat as she slid Ali back onto her lap. "My doll."

From then on there were no further comments to be made about Ali's appearance, nor any rude assumptions made in regards to Salem. The Tella were a goddy and prideful race, but when faced with overwhelming danger, their courage paled in comparison to that of the Valekry. Such truth was made rather obvious to Salem as the same shuttle pilot suddenly stepped forward, having already put his trip on hold.

"Is everything okay here?" The Valekry pilot asked.

"Just another catfight," Salem lied, glaring at the Tella so that they may follow along. "We like to fight over our prizes."

"Very well then. If there is no objection."

Ali released a deep sigh as the Valekry walked back to his cockpit, shifting her warm legs while placing her pale hands on Salem's shoulders, "That was too close Salem. Please be careful."

"I'm just doing my job."

"Your job?"

"Protecting you."

"Well," Ali blushed. "Just be careful."

The pair then sat together in blissful silence, their hearts beating faster as they drew closer to the city. In terms of planning, Salem had no idea what she wanted to do. Just the simple act of traveling alone with her partner was enough to fill the air with excitement.

"Well, got any ideas?" Salem whispered to Ali as the tall black peaks of Lacuna's cityscape came into view.

"Why don't we just walk? Find something we like," Ali smiled.

"Very well little doll."

The shuttle then came to a sudden stop, its sleek surface having zipped into an open station of sorts with a wide open roof. As the pair stepped out onto the platform, they could practically feel the bustling environment in the air as crowds of Tella pushed their way through the shiny pavement and planted foliage, as if none of the previous catastrophes had ever happened. Clanking her heels against the floor, Salem glared with indignation.

"They'd rather pretend everything is fine," the red mother sighed, scraping the bottom of her sharp footwear against a multicolored walkway, its cubic structure crafted entirely out of glass and crystal. "Drowning themselves in pretty lights and cute architecture."

"I think it's rather beautiful," Ali beamed, staring up at a glowing blue tree located in the center of the station. "Look at all the signs and shops."

"I've seen it before really. I used to get taken out to overgrown kiosks all the time," Salem sighed, gesturing towards a nearby panel with a map displayed on its screen. "Shopping centers aren't exactly rare here."

"Ooh! Let's try this!" The doll smiled as she wandered through a large tunnel towards an open square, the corners of which had been decorated with all manner of abstract art similar to what Salem had spotted before during her trip with Cora. "It'll be fun!"

Salem did her best to follow closely, pushing aside any Tella that got in her way as the doll ran around a large fountain in the center of the square. Not knowing quite yet what Ali had planned, the red mother was surprised to then spot her partner waiting outside a snack shop of sorts. The appearance of the familiar store was unusually comparable to her past encounters with humans, evidenced by the layout of the silver store and the large drawing of a pretzel near its roof.

"Really?" Salem shrugged as Ali got in line. "I mean sure why not."

Of course, the Tella store wasn't run by any sentient life, as instead, an array of automated hands ran the kitchen next to a terminal where the cashier would typically stand. With just the flick of her wrist, Salem was capable of ordering and processing a snack for the doll much to her dismay. While she may never have admitted it, the red mother felt almost sad at that moment, having long missed the entertainment of watching humans work their craft. Without a chef or staff of any sort, the whole process of buying food was rather boring.

"I'll pay Salem," Ali giggled, eagerly preparing to insert currency into the front-facing terminal. "Watch!"

Ali gleefully rummaged the insides of her small backpack, revealing a handful of coins in the process. At first glance, it seemed the doll packed only a meager amount of currency, but judging by the screen on the terminal, it seemed quite the opposite was true. In fact, Ina had given Salem a comically inappropriate amount of funds to use.

"Not sure we need five hundred pretzels Ali," Salem laughed, staring at the four cyan-colored squares in the doll's hands. "Ina must have given you some kind of premium coin, not pocket change."

"Then we get lots of change! How fun!" Ali smiled.

The doll then grabbed herself a bag full of pretzels from the kiosk mere seconds after placing her order, and after taking a small bite, she proceeded to skip past Salem with an audible giggle.

"Gods, if only I were her," Salem eyed her partner as the pair continued on their path out of the station. "So pure and unspoiled."

Watching Ali with envy, Salem began to ignore her surroundings, nearly walking into the street moments later.

"Oh right," the red mother groaned as her heels tripped against the curb. "The big city."

"Where do you want to go?" Ali spoke with a mouth full of pretzels.

"Well...I may have an idea or two. My good friend Cora gave me the tour a while ago and...I did enjoy it," Salem sighed.

"You mean the woman with all the wonderful animals?"

"Yes."

Salem nodded as she took the doll's hand, guiding her toward the central park as she managed to regain her focus. From what she could remember during her time with Cora, the blue vista was significantly more beautiful up close, causing her to pause on multiple occasions. And just as the red mother had predicted, Ali was rather entranced.

"Is the surface like this Salem?" Ali tilted her head as the bioluminescent glow from the pale branches reflected in her eyes. "So bright and tranquil?"

Salem did not respond, leaning her prosthetic arm on a nearby bench. She had no intention of ignoring the doll and yet not a word came out of her mouth. It was as if remembering the surface was an impossible crime.

"I understand," Ali bowed her head, taking a seat on the bench beside Salem. "You like it here better."

"I do," Salem nodded. "No matter how bad it gets."

Ali then reached for her backpack - opening its small pouch to reveal a brown bear hiding in its confines. And while Salem was not looking, the doll proceeded to feed her little friend, stuffing an entire pretzel into its mouth. Of course, the bear did not seem amused, stealing a second snack with its paws before scurrying off into the deepest reaches of the backpack.

"Lacuna is...not so set in stone," Salem continued. "I can hope for its future. Look at its history with regret and fight for a change. But down there? It's already doomed."

As Salem explained her feelings, her eyes could not help but drift towards the doll, focusing on her perfect exposed navel as its complexion changed with the blue light. While unable to put it into words, the red mother felt she was staring at herself. A young girl with a petite beautiful body was rather desirable as far as she knew.

"I thought you would have had an appreciation for the views," Ali giggled nervously, uncertain of what to say.

"Well, apparently you do little doll. Want to see some more?"

"I would...like that."

"Well Cora, before she passed away, spoke of a large mall near the central park. A shopping center so to speak. Care to check it out?"

"Don't we have enough trinkets and outfits Salem?" Ali questioned.

"Part of being a girl is looking at things you don't need Ali."

"Is that so?"

"You'll figure it out," the red mother gestured with a laugh. "Follow me."

_______________________

Just as Salem had planned, beyond the horizon lay a large metal tunnel of sorts, the clamorous noise of its crowd filling the air. Above the structure - otherwise known as a mall, lay a transparent glass roof lined with round bulbs and long chandeliers, their intentionally archaic light filling the room with a nostalgic vibe. Approaching the mall with a smile, Ali released an audible gasp of amazement, her eyes fixated on the scenery around her.

"Where should we go!" Ali beamed as the pair approached one of several sliding glass doors. "There's so much!"

"Whatever suits your fancy little doll," Salem chuckled as her partner ran ahead. "Pick out the prettiest sign and just go."

From that moment on, Salem and Ali would proceed to enjoy every venue they came across, much to the amazement of the nearby Tella - their narrow minds having never before seen such an excited couple. To start, the doll made a dash for the vanity store despite her previous concerns, sweeping through its brightly lit halls to explore nearly every rack of clothing. It was of course more than amusing for Salem to follow along and watch her partner try on all sorts of attire.

"What about this Salem!" Ali smiled, twirling around in a purple nightgown she had picked out.

Salem responded with a subtle groan, her legs aching after standing by the changing room for what felt like hours, "It's cute Ali. Really, no matter what you wear I'm just going to say the same."

"You were right. I do like frivolous girl activities," the doll giggled before dashing behind the curtain of the changing room once again just as she had so many times. "It's fun!"

At first, Salem desperately wanted to pursue Ali and observe her while she changed. But after some thought, she decided to retain her partner's dignity and instead chose a gentlemanly path. Sheer spite alone was enough to keep Salem in a tame state of mind, her hatred of Iris ever-growing.

"If I was in there," Salem thought to herself. "That brute would just storm in and grope me. I'm not like that. I told her I wouldn't be like that."

And so Salem remained outside the room, waiting for hours as her partner played around with every outfit imaginable. After having enough of skirts, dresses, and pajamas, Ali finally returned in her own personal attire before wandering off. Comically enough, Salem nearly missed the doll as she left, struggling to follow as a result.

"Ooh! Let's go over there Salem!" Ali smiled.

"Right," Salem groaned. "Whatever you want."

Next, the pair found themselves in a photo booth of sorts, designed for capturing pictures of the couple within. Due to the cramped nature of the black box, its veiled structure covered in red drapes, Salem and Ali were practically pushing against each other. It didn't take long then before another awkward encounter ensued.

"Um Salem," Ali winced as Salem climbed into the booth alongside her, the woman's voluptuous frame unable to fit onto the single bench. "I don't think-."

"What is it?" Salem replied as if unaware of the situation, her pale breasts brushing against the doll's arm. "Is there a problem?"

"Well..."

"It's fine Ali. Just look at the little screen ahead."

But as Salem proceeded, she couldn't help but place herself partially onto the doll's lap, clinging to the front of the booth to avoid pressing her weight against her partner. As a result, Ali was practically straddling Salem, feeling much of the woman's body in the process. Before long Ali was visibly blushing and doing her best to avoid placing her hands in the wrong place.

"Hold on, almost there," Salem smiled playfully. "How does this thing work?"

"I...," Ali stammered, her eyes fixated on the sight of Salem's bottom, it's delectable curves drawing closer and closer."

It was only a matter of time before the doll felt tempted - lusting for the first time in her life as her inner desires raged like a kindled flame. Raising her small hands, she suddenly began to caress Salem's legs, feeling them with her soft hands. As a response, the red mother released an audible and rather unladylike groan, no doubt surprised by how erotic it felt to be touched by her feminine partner.

"Ugh!" Salem gritted her teeth as her legs spread apart, her mechanical hands digging into the front of the booth as she began to twitch with delight. "What are you doing!"

"I...don't know," Ali muttered as if in a trance, her hands shifting closer to Salem's bottom. "You're so pretty Salem..."

"I was only teasing little doll I-...ugh!"

Unable to control herself any longer, Ali transitioned her gentle touch into a full-on attack, carefully prodding and kneading Salem's bottom like it was a batch of dough. As her hands then slid down to the flesh around her partner's crotch, she could feel a wet substance emerging from the woman's gown, causing her to pause.

"Aah!" Salem moaned, her mind conflicted with both distress and pure ecstasy. "Ali!"

"I-I'm sorry!" Ali gasped, pulling her hands away. "I don't know what came over me!"

The doll then rushed out of the booth, too embarrassed to say anything. At that moment, she felt guilt, unlike anything she had ever felt, regardless of what her partner actually thought. Salem of course wasn't phased one bit and was more so surprised to receive Ali's excitement.

"I...was like one of them," Ali continued, staring down at the ground. "Salem I-."

"The fact that you feel such restraint is evidence to the contrary," the red mother awkwardly hobbled her way towards the doll, clearly unashamed of what had just happened moments ago. "You don't need to explain anything to me, Ali."

"But I-."

Suddenly, Salem embraced the doll, giving her a warm and motherly hug. She knew better than most what it was like to lose control, and how little it meant when compared to those who were always true to their evil. Patting Ali on the head, the pale woman smiled and whispered into her ear.

"It's alright Ali. I forgive you."

"You do?" The doll whimpered as she looked up.

"Yes. Just...don't forget whose the top around here next time."

"I...don't know what that means Salem," the doll replied as her artificial heart began to beat out of her chest. "I just...know what I feel."

"And what would that be?"

"I love you Salem," Ali exclaimed. "Whatever that word truly means, and regardless of what I am, that is what I feel."

The pair then stood in silence, their slim figures bathing in the light of the mall's largest corridor as an entire crowd moved past them. Ignoring all else around her, and fully accepting the romantic romantic moment, Salem placed her mechanical finger under the doll's chin - lifting it up towards her. She knew exactly what to say.

"I love you too Ali," Salem replied with a smirk, her face drawing closer to the doll.

"I am yours-," Ali muttered as she became increasingly nervous.

"And you are mine."

Breaking what little space remained between them, Ali opened her mouth and pressed it against Salem's, entering her small warm tongue into the red mother's lips. The kiss that ensued was the best Salem had ever felt, overwhelming her with excitement and joy. Taken aback by the doll's courage, the red mother took some time before finally accepting the doll's embrace with one of her own.

Salem had felt many mouths in her time, but none were as tender as the doll's nor as delectable as her comparatively smaller tongue. In the red mother's mind, she was enjoying a full-course meal, writhing her own tongue around the doll's mouth and grabbing her waist with one strong hand. Ali on the other hand had nervously shut her eyes some time ago, unable to comprehend what she really felt.

"Salem," Ali gasped for breath, pulling away from Salem as a strand of saliva formed between their mouths. "Please be gentle."

"That's all I ever wanted little doll," Salem breathed in deeply as a feeling of strength washed over her. "Never in my life did I have a gentle partner. But now finally, I can give that blessing to someone else. I will be gentle Ali. But not here."

"W-well, of course, it's just that I-," Ali stammered as she began to blush again. "I just wanted to give my consent. Since last time..."

"People don't usually do all that in the middle of their date Ali," The red mother laughed.

"Oh! Well, I uhh-."

Salem chuckled once again, shaking her head before hoisting the doll into her arms - her prosthetic limbs easily capable of bearing the load. Looking at her partner in her purple eyes, the red mother felt at peace, having finally retrieved the motivation she had lost. Ina *had* to be wrong. Lacuna could be saved, and with it, Ali's life would be preserved. No amount of lies and secrecy could stop her.

"Where too next little doll?" Salem spoke in a deeper voice, trying her best to come off as masculine.

"Anywhere," Ali giggled. "With you, I don't care."

After a long evening of fun and festivities, Salem and Ali began the trip home, their minds filled with warm memories and excitement for the future. On the returning bus, the pair made sure to sit exactly as they had before, smiling at each other all the while.

"I never imagined you would have such a sweet tooth," Salem chuckled as she pointed to a mound of fluff in Ali's hand, its soft cloud-like surface attached to a white stick. "Just look at you little doll."

"But there's so much to taste Salem! It's all so wonderful," Ali giggled, ignoring the peering eyes of those sitting beside her on the bus. "Me personally, I thought you'd be better at throwing balls."

"Oh, you really going to keep bringing up that stupid little game in the mall?" The red mother frowned, thinking back to her inability to impress Ali during their date. "I never was good at it okay. That was something my partners would take care of."

"Your partners?"

"Yes, Ali. Back when I looked more like you, I was taken out by all kinds of people. Every time they'd be the assertive ones trying to get a smile out of me. And well...those were better days."

"You mentioned your past before," Ali sighed. "I remember hearing it in my sleep. Was it always so painful?"

"Not always. That's why I envy you little doll. In my younger body, people would purchase me for more...wholesome reasons. They wanted a daughter or a girlfriend. But when I grew up and my body changed...well you know what happened. I outlived all those who cared for me in the past, and after that, every new face just wanted a piece of me," Salem shrugged as if her previous was no longer relevant to her.

"I'm sorry Salem."

"Don't be. Now that I have been blessed with strength, I have the power to ensure the same fate never happens again. Not to you. And that's all I need Ali. You are my mission."

"For family," Ali smiled, staring into Salem's glowing red eyes.

"For family."

Once the train came to a stop, Salem lifted the doll into her arms before carefully planting her feet on the familiar path back home. But as she continued to display her assertive strength, a brilliant idea suddenly appeared in her mind.

"Yes," Salem continued. "Family is why I fight."

"I beg your pardon?" Ali's eyes widened. "What are you thinking?"

"Reach the end of the night with me and find out."

After waiting eagerly for hours, the curious faces of Salem's family peered through the door as the pair drew closer to the house. From what they could see, the date went splendidly as evidenced by the expressions on both Ali and her partners face. In fact even as they stumbled back inside the confines of their home, the loving duo could not help but continue to smile and giggle the whole way.

"Went that well huh?" Corian joked as he and the mechanical children stood near the kitchen, staring at Salem with a look of disbelief.

"You could say that," Salem replied, not bothering to look away from the doll for even a moment. "We'll need some privacy tonight dear."

"Well look at you. From a bottom to a top."

"Remember proper etiquette when assuming the role of a man mother," Valor reached out his harm, signaling for his siblings to refrain from asking any awkward questions.

"It's none of your business," Anger muttered as the pair disappeared into the hallway leading towards Salem's room.

"Well...depending on how loud they are, it'll be ALL our business," Corian shrugged.

Valor gave the young knight a quick bonk in response to his crude remark before turning to Regret and Sorrow.

"Come now you two, let's go outside. Don't pay attention to anything that man says."

"Uncle Corian always says strange things," Regret nodded.

"You could say," Sorrow hissed. "Let's give mother her space."

"What am I seriously the only one who's not a prude around here?" Corian laughed, resting his arm on the kitchen counter. "I mean...you Valekry can't be THAT oblivious."

"We are fully aware," Anger responded in an unusually calm tone, the tall machine lurking near Corian as if unaffected by Valor's suggestions. "We simply do not find the need to comment on our mother's bedtime activities."

"Well I mean-."

"She likes the doll. And she likes you. It is as simple as that."

"Sure buddy."

An awkward silence then enveloped the room as all but Corian and Anger disappeared from the room, their paths having taken opposite directions.

"Here we are little doll, home sweet home," Salem smiled as she set the doll down onto her tidy bed, the surface of which barely shifting under Ali's weight. "Now, for my idea-."

"Salem," Ali stammered, staring up at the taller woman who stood over her. "I know what I promised you before, and I-."

"You're more then that to me Ali," Salem interrupted the doll's attempt to explain herself. "I want you. All of you. Not just your cute body but..."

"What are you saying?"

"A child Ali. I want to make a child with you."

The doll's eyes then widened as she began to realize Salem's true intent. Somewhere behind all the hormones and stress lay a fiery passion within her partner - a true desire to create. Such fiery ambition went far beyond the reaches of bodily pleasure, and instead required something far deeper.

"But Salem I am a doll and-."

"You know what I mean. I've seen it with Ina, we can share the process of creation. With both our souls combined we can-."

But just then Salem retracted herself, turning away from the doll for a brief moment.

"No...I shouldn't force that on you either. I'm sorry."

"Salem..," Ali produced a tender smile as she tilted her head.

"I just...I've never felt this way before and I-."

"I'll do it."

"What?!" Salem paused. "But-."

"Your children mean everything to you. It is a proposal of love to ask me to share in the process of their creation. And...given how I feel about each and every one of them. Salem, I accept."

"I don't think you fully understand what I'm asking Ali. It was a spur of the moment. I made a mistake."

"I may be weak Salem," Ali chuckled. "But I am perceptive. Your sister helped you build the twins. You saw the potential of a collaborated effort."

"It is merely a delusional obsession of mine."

"It is how you love. Do you remember our words at the mall? Salem, I love you."

The doll then reached out to Salem as she knelt on the bed, bringing the mother closer by tugging at her mechanical hand. Once her partner was close enough, the doll placed her forehead against Salem's, sharing a brief moment of silence with the red mother. They now understood each other.

"Ali," Salem muttered, sharing the doll's warm breath.

"This is why I was made. To help you on this path. And I intend to fulfill my purpose."

"But if you-."

"I consent," Ali whispered. "That is what my heart is telling you."

Salem then released a passionate sigh of relief, climbing into bed with the doll while pushing her down. In that moment, all her doubts had been washed away, replaced with a determined yet chaotic sense of purpose. She wished only to make love with her doll.

"We're making a child Ali. Isn't that wonderful?" The red mother muttered as she gently rubbed her hand along the surface of the doll's exposed belly. "Did you ever imagine we would find ourselves hear?"

"Y-yes," Ali moaned as Salem tugged at her skirt, exposing more of her pale waist. "From the day I met you."

"Then let us take our bodily vows. You and me Ali, in spite of this hellish world."

The red mother then climbed atop the doll, planting a kiss on her mouth while using her hands to inspect her partner's body. Before long, Ali found herself caught in a passionate assault, as each accessory of her clothing was progressively snatched away by Salem's cold sharp hands. Overwhelmed with feelings of panic, lust, and obsession, the doll released several sharp gasps before shutting her eyes.

"Perfect," Salem muttered to herself as she thought of Ali's scent, licking the doll's navel before squeezing her sharp breasts.

It was only a matter of time then before Ali was completely naked, her pale body having been thoroughly inspected by Salem. But no matter how embarrassed and humiliated she appeared, the doll could not help but feel overjoyed. She knew she was beautiful, and she was certain that beauty was being admired.

"Out of all the women I've ever met," the red mother squinted, observing the doll's petite frame before placing a mechanical palm over her mouth. "You're the only one who's ever made me jealous. I mean look at this. You are so small and yet, your breasts fit perfectly into my palms and...your waist is just barely voluptuous. I...I cannot help myself."

"Mhha!" Ali attempted to moan, only to have two of Salem's fingers slide into her mouth.

"But enough gawking," Salem smirked, taking a moment to cup the doll's breasts one last time. "I promise I'll be gentle."

Salem then quickly flipped the doll around, exposing her partner's white bottom in all its glory before undressing herself. Clutching the blankets with her small hands, the doll prepared for what she knew would be rough business. In all the novels she had read, this was the moment of true love.

"You kept that hidden from me all this time?" Salem laughed at the doll's surprisingly round cheeks, slapping it with a suitable amount of force. "Should have made you wear shorter skirts."

"Aah!" Ali grunted. "Salem!"

"Right," the red mother focused before tossing aside the last of her own clothing. "Gotta be gentle."

In preparation for what was to come, the red mother clutched the doll's waist before bringing her in closer, guiding her back and legs into the correct position. And after one last suspenseful pause, Salem began to gently hump her partner, forcing the doll's soft body to collide with her own. What ensued from then on did not need to be described - for both Ali and Salem knew how it felt.

"Kyaa!" Ali moaned once again, struggling to contain her voice as Salem gently yet firmly simulated her senses.

"You think this is bad? You would never survive a man," Salem joked as she gave the doll a moment of reprieve. "I'll need to train you from here on out. Teach you how to handle this sort of thing."

"Nngh," Ali gasped for air, her arms shaking as her hair drooped onto the surface of the bed.

"You can do it little doll. Slowly but surely, we'll put Alia's brilliant design into use. Trust me."

Salem then pushed Ali down further into the bedsheets, allowing her fragile body to rest before climbing atop her completely. From her higher vantage point, the red mother could completely dominate her partner, lifting her by the chin while playing with her crotch from behind. Even with such a gentle and slow approach, Ali could barely keep up, having already produced many accurate reactions to Salem's love.

"I have plenty to learn too you know. All the things I can do with this petite flexible body."

"But alas," Salem continued, realizing her partner could only take so much. "That is for another time. Let's finish you."

______________________________

Two orange eyes flickered open, their soft hue struggling to focus on the path ahead. Prince Ocelot had dozed off to sleep again, unconsciously leaving his room as a result. It had already been a week since he started his new research, breaking whatever record he had for overnight studying.

"It's no use," Ocelot sighed, pushing his shoulder length hair aside as he turned to face his room. "I can't figure her out."

Within the prince's bright room lay a long wooden desk filled with papers and metal tablets, long since unkept since the arrival of Salem. For the past couple of months, Ocelot's typical demeanor had deteriorated, along with his sense of tidiness. What was once a clean and uplifting room - covered with gold plating and soft velvet carpets, had become something of a drab and dusty corner. He was beginning to look like his sister.

Ignoring his usual attire, the prince left his room with nothing but his bare feet and a slim nightgown akin to a spliced lace dress. But after a moment of pause, a sudden and rather intrusive thought entered the young boy's mind. Without hesitation he then re-entered the room to grab a pair of heels.

"He might be around," Ocelot panicked as he slipped on his white stiletto shoes.

After taking a deep breath, Ocelot continued on his aimless path, fully intent on clearing his mind just like his sister would. And as he walked down the steps to the open courtyard, an expected figure could be seen standing beneath the set of stone stairs. The prince tried to not look annoyed - forming a judgmental expression in the process.

"It's a rather cold night to be walking out alone prince Ocelot," Korus waved his large mechanical hand, standing proudly next to the fountain where he once defended Ina from her attackers. "Don't you think?"

"Do you machines ever take a hint?" Ocelot sneered. "I don't want to talk to you."

"I'm aware you are avoiding me yes. And I have accepted the reason why."

"Y-you have?" The prince stammered, nearly tripping down the stairs in his wobbly heels. "I mean...of course you have it was obvious."

"Yes. You still need to finish your training."

Korus then approached the young prince, offering him a standard Valekry blade from his back. Ocelot hissed in response, pretending to be offended by the gesture. But of course Korus seemed entirely unphased, as if he knew what the prince was thinking.

"I don't need all that. Ina has trained me plenty."

"And do you want to know how she became so skilled despite her pacifism?"

"Because she's a talented genius unlike me?"

"We worked together for years, learning off each other. In fact, those early days of swordplay marked the birth of the Valekry's standard fighting form."

"What?" Ocelot stammered, realizing he had never heard that bit of history. "Sister is...that old?"

"Old enough to create a sword art yes. But you already knew that...didn't you."

"Doesn't matter! What else haven't you told me!" Ocelot growled as he grabbed the sword from Korus's hand.

"I am only at liberty to tell you what she would want you to know," Korus nodded as he unsheathed his own practice blade.

"Why not tell me herself?!"

"She would rather you not feel inadequate in her presence."

"As if I don't already!"

"You should give yourself more credit my Prince. You share her intellect."

Ocelot and Korus then took a fighting stance, signifying the start of their sparring practice.

"So that's what this is huh?" Ocelot snickered as he thrusted his blade forward. "Trying to make me feel better by making me win?"

"No. I simply wish to encourage your competitive spirit," Korus replied calmly, dodging the young boy's attack with ease. "If you beat me, I'll tell you another fact about your sister."

"That's all I ever wanted. The truth about her."

Ocelot then unleashed a flurry of well trained attacks - no doubt taught to him by Ina. But as expected, Korus sidestepped the assault with barely any effort. In fact, as the fight dragged on, the silver knight had yet to even use his own blade.

"But do you really need the truth? Perhaps the path to fulfillment is chasing your own dreams young prince," Korus gestured with his free hand.

"Don't tell me what I need!"

The dancer-like movement's of the prince's blade may have been quite swift, but it was nothing Korus hadn't seen before. And as Ocelot became more and more aggressive, it became clear just how physically inferior he really was. Korus knew such cold truths, but continued to avoid every attack.

"You posses a talent my Prince. You just have yet to find it."

"And what could that possibly be! I'm not like my sister. I'm not a genius. And I'm sure as hell not like you!" Ocelot breathed deeply as he began to tire out.

The young prince then prepared a final attack, using both hands as he lunged at Korus. But just before he could finally make contact with the machine, his blade was deflected by the machine's stiff hand, sending Ocelot flying backwards as a result. What followed was a rush of pain the prince had never felt before, his entire body tumbling across the pavement with both his pale legs flailing in the air.

"Gyuuah!" Ocelot moaned, his face turning bright red as he began to twitch helplessly.

"Oh my," Korus dropped his blade, rushing over to the prince, his petite body currently stuck in a humiliating display. "I may have hit you too hard."

With both his legs bent over his shoulders, nearly ever part of the prince's feminine body was put on display, his regal attire proving unable to cover his shame. What little remained of his ego was then shattered as he struggled to correct his body, panting like a pitiful animal all the while. Left with nothing but his own embarrassment, Ocelot began to drool on the cold stone floor, his tongue having instinctively left the confines of his mouth just as Iris had predicted.

"Ocelot," Korus carefully took a knee next to the prince, unwilling to right the boy's body before he was certain there was no risk of injury. "Are you alright?"

"K-korus," Ocelot whimpered softly. "Don't look..."

But despite the prince's words, he was enjoying every second of his predicament. In fact, his encounter with Korus was everything he could have hoped for. Deep down beneath all the pride and vanity, Ocelot was a soft and timid creature, unable to admit its feelings to its loved ones.

"Let me help you. Please," Korus sighed as he gently nudged the prince onto his back, fixing his humiliating predicament in the process. "I know what you are hiding."

"What do you want me to do?!" Ocelot cried out, his voice no longer carrying the pride of a spoiled child. "I...hate this!"

"And what would that be?"

The young prince refused to speak as he lay on the ground in an alluring position, his tender arms and pale hips fully exposed for the knight to see. At that awkward moment, Ocelot no doubt appeared feminine; and regardless of matter how many times he tried to deny his feelings, it felt good to be seen as feminine. It was almost addicting really, being easily defeated as a beautiful damsel, and kneeling before a masculine knight in submission. Ocelot wanted to feel that way.

"I hate me...," Ocelot sniffled, as tears welled up in his eyes.

"You appearance?"

"Yes..."

Korus then stretched out his hand, parting the prince's white hair before caressing his left earring from a respectable distance. Ocelot gasped, his orange pupils widening as he felt the knight's warm touch brush against the silver jewels on his ear. He had chosen that expensive pair for this exact occasion, hoping Korus would notice the hue of the earrings was designed to resemble his own armor.

"What is there to be ashamed of in beauty?" Korus whispered. "My heart may be entrusted to your sister Ocelot...but I do notice you."

"Ah," the prince gasped. "Korus..."

"Is this why you've been avoiding me?"

"If...she never loved you..."

"Perhaps."

Korus then lifted the prince into his arms, gently cradling his weakened body. Ocelot continued to blush, his petite frame shivering terribly as he tried not to panic. But as he continued to enjoy his time with the machine, a feeling of pettiness washed over him.

"And what would a machine even know of love!?" Ocelot hissed at the patient knight, his hands pressed against Korus's chest. "Did she make you for this! Like a slave?!"

"I believe you know your sister better then that Ocelot."

"Do I really? She's never spoken to me truthfully."

"Only, she has. Her secrecy is her own choice, and her feelings for you are real."

"Oh the irony. A machine lecturing me about feelings and emotions."

"I find a prince too arrogant to understand his surroundings to be more humorous," Korus shook his head, realizing his typically soft approach wasn't going well.

"H-hey!" Ocelot blushed. "That's no way to speak to your prince!"

"I apologize, simple machines like me sometimes struggle to understand proper manners."

"Oh you..."

The prince accidently released a giggle as he spoke, causing his eyes to widen with embarrassment. Had Korus been more cruel, he might have then made fun of Ocelot's femininity. But he all of people knew the royal twins weren't exactly confident in their outward appearance.

"Perhaps I have been a little...brash," Ocelot whimpered as he clasped his slender hands together. "But what chance did I have to receive council?"

"You were rather insistent on staying clear of me...but I do apologize for not being more persistent."

"No, it's my fault for being so distant to begin with. I...needed this."

"Your current situation has left much to be desired I admit. To avoid the preying eyes of the Tella...-"

"I know. I don't blame her for that. Sometimes I just wish...I was a sister she can confide in."

After returning the prince to his room, Korus set Ocelot down on the soft bed, remaining silent all the while. He wanted nothing more then to tell the prince everything he knew and help the young boy with his troubles. But at the end of the day, Korus was loyal to Ina and her secrecy.

Lost in thoughts all alone, Ocelot began to ponder his sister's secrecy with a fresh mind. If her love for him was true, then her reasons had to be different. Something was keeping her mouth shut against her own will.

"If you really wanted a sister...why hide the existence of Salem? Surely you had to have known about her...unless."

Ocelot stared at the floor, his mind questioning everything.

"Who were our parents? You never mentioned them and yet...Salem is a surface dweller. Are they even native to Lacuna? Do we even have parents?" Ocelot continued.

"You know everything about the Valekry, you take responsibility for what the Tella have become. And now you seem to know some random girl who stumbles into our home. Just how old are you?"
