Rahman was the most terrifying leading member of the Godhunter Alliance that Han Shuo was currently aware of. For such a character to suddenly appear in this place that was specially set up to find Godhunters, something must have gone very wrong!
After Barnett allowed him to leave, Han Shuo did not take off immediately, but stood aside to observe the actions of Rahman and his gang. He wanted to see what these Godhunters were up to.
By this time, eighty-seven people had gathered at the training ground. With the exception of twenty-one divine guards from the House of Croton, the rest were all cultivators of the Edict of Destruction. Most of these people had taken the test and passed. They also did not leave the training ground and watched the energy tower in front of Barnett.
These Edict of Destruction cultivators did not leave immediately because the presence of the Godhunters in Fort Verka had seriously threatened their safety. They wanted to see the House of Croton capture and punish the Godhunters.
After all, if those Godhunters were not caught and eliminated, as cultivators of the Edict of Destruction, they would remain targets for those hunters. Of course, none of them felt comfortable being hunted!
Practically every Edict of Destruction cultivator in Fort Verka with at least Lowgod strength was gathered in this training ground. Han Shuo was certain that there must be at least a few Godhunters among them. The energy tower had failed to detect them simply because they had completely assimilated their victims' divine energy into their own. Han Shuo's sharp senses detected that the eyes of a dozen or more Lowgods of destruction flickered as soon as they saw Rahman and his gang enter the training ground. They exchanged meaningful glances with Rahman and those who entered with him, as if they were up to something.
With one thought, Han Shuo deduced that something big was about to happen in this training ground. He was even less motivated to leave.
"Rahman, why did you come? You are cultivating in the energy of darkness. You should be in the light." Barnett recognised Rahman and greeted him loudly from a distance.
"Haha, I've brought my friends here to be tested. We want to cooperate with your efforts," Rahman replied with a warm smile on his face. His dark and cold appearance at his shop was nowhere to be seen.
"I know I can count on you!" Barnett thanked him before instructing those lined up behind the tower, "Step aside, let Rahman and his friend take the test first".
Rahman was a midgod. You could point to any place on the map of the universe, but one fact would remain - the powerful always enjoyed special privileges. There were few midgods to be found in Fort Verka. As a member of the House of Croton, it was to be expected that Barnett would be familiar with Rahman.
Rahman, at the head of his group, who were cultivating in the Edict of Destruction, walked through the crowd and straight to Barnett. These people, who had read the scroll that Rahman had deliberately distributed, one by one poured their divine energy into the energy tower. The energy tower was not triggered. Every one of them passed the test.
However, Han Shuo was almost certain that those with Rahman were the ones responsible for the murders at Fort Verka in the past few days. They had probably passed the test because they had fully assimilated the divine energy of their victims.
"They are all clean. I don't believe Rahman's friends would do such despicable things," Barnett said, nodding his head. He seemed very close to Rahman.
"Of course!" Rahman replied, laughing heartily. His eyes, however, wandered around Eunice. Grinning cheekily, he asked, "Miss Eunice, you must have been working hard these days. You're exhausted, aren't you?" There was a hint of depravity in the way he looked at Eunice. An average person without senses as acute as Han Shuo's wouldn't have spotted it.
"As a member of the House of Croton, this is what I should be doing - it doesn't matter if it's exhausting or not," Eunice replied coldly. For some reason, she was instinctively disgusted by Rahman and felt sick every time he was in her presence.
"If there's anything I can do to help Miss Eunice, please don't hesitate to ask." Rahman's eyes travelled all over Eunice's body, lingering particularly long on her breasts.
"No, thank you!" Eunice flatly refused. Women have extraordinary senses for such things. She had known for a long time that Rahman desired her as much as he did that dirty business with the salesgirl in his shop. So no matter how Rahman flirted with her, she never responded kindly.
Rahman took no offence and laughed hollowly. But when he lowered his head, a malicious and sinister light flashed in his eyes.
"Very well. Rahman, you may leave with your friends," Barnett said smiling. He knew Rahman's intentions, but he wasn't afraid that Rahman would do anything to harm Eunice, as the House of Croton held overwhelming power in Fort Verka.
Rahman nodded his head and made his way outside. As he walked, however, his eyes kept exchanging glances with certain people in the crowd. Those whose eyes met Rahman's would nod their heads slightly, as if to tell Rahman that their preparations were complete.
Han Shuo had seen every little move these people made. He was very cautious and on high alert, knowing that a show was about to take place right here. Since his true strength was on par with a Late-stage Midgod, Han Shuo was not at all concerned about his own safety. Instead, he wanted to stay and see what Rahman was going to do.
Rahman, who had been closely watched by Han Shuo, had walked all the way to the door and was about to leave the training ground. Han Shuo was astonished and thought, "Could I have been wrong in my judgement? Could Rahman have not even thought of making a move here?
As the majority of the crowd turned their attention back to Barnett's energy tower, Rahman, who was a few steps away from leaving the training ground, suddenly pulled out a dark golden orb. Barnett, Eunice and the others from the House of Croton had resumed testing other people, oblivious to Rahman's actions.
Rahman did not let Han Shuo wait a second longer and immediately threw the dark golden orb into the air.
Suddenly, a terrifying aura of destruction erupted from the sphere, flooding every inch of the air and forming a domain of divinity that enveloped the entire training ground!
"What's happening?" the crowd shouted in surprise. The terrifying energy of destruction that had suddenly erupted on the training ground had caused some commotion in the crowd.
"Damn it, who just unleashed their domain of divinity?" some of the more oblivious cursed loudly.
Barnett, standing next to his testing device, was stunned. He cried out in alarm, "Who is it? This is Fort Verka of the City of Shadows! Who is so out of control?" Barnett could sense that he couldn't resist the aura of destruction that had suddenly erupted in the training field.
"Uncle, we have a formidable enemy in our presence. I have never felt such a terrifying energy of destruction before!" Eunice remarked to Barnett. She was considered rather calm about the threat and was on alert.
The dark golden orb hovering high above the training field continued to release the Aura of Destruction, maintaining the Domain of Divinity that enveloped the entire room. When the crowd finally discovered the dark golden orb above their heads, several glowing dark orbs suddenly flew out of the dark golden orb one after the other and flew upwards at the boundary of the training field.
Those glowing dark orbs all stuck to the boundary at the top of the training ground and began to circulate rapidly. These spheres would leave a trail of sparks behind them. They were changing the structure of the boundary and causing the aura of destruction to become more intense.
Han Shuo was extremely shocked. His glittering eyes watched the boundary intently, not stopping for even the briefest blink. The energy of destruction and the density of the glowing dark orbs were all too obvious to him. As soon as they flew out of the dark golden orb, Han Shuo realised that these were the Orbs of Destruction he had been trying to learn!
Han Shuo was rather puzzled as to why these Orbs of Destruction were flying around, altering the structure of the training ground's boundary, as well as the fact that he had learned about the Orb of Destruction from a scroll he had purchased from the scroll shop run by Rahman.
"Who is doing this? Come out!" Barnett shouted at the top of his lungs, and his voice had tremendous penetrating power. It seemed he was trying to attract the attention of the divine guards outside the training ground.
"This is useless. No one will hear anything in here. Even if you scream at the top of your lungs, your voice won't penetrate the barrier!" Rahman walked back to them with an evil smile. He seemed unperturbed.
"It's you?" Eunice exclaimed in surprise. She asked in a cold voice, "Who are you working with? How dare you stir up trouble in our Fort Verka!"
"Miss Eunice, darling, you will soon learn all about me! I will explain everything to you slowly while I press you under my crotch and play with you!" Rahman no longer hid his lustful desires for Eunice and replied impudently.
"Despicable!" Eunice gritted her teeth and shouted angrily at Rahman's obscene looks and shameless words.
"Rahman, do you know what happens to those who oppose the House of Croton?" Barnett took a deep breath to calm his anger and asked Rahman in a calm but threatening voice.
Rahman shrugged indifferently and laughed darkly. "Do you really think we give a damn about the little House of Croton? Oh, poor Barnett, you actually think your House of Croton carries any weight!"
As they spoke, some twenty or so Cultivators of Edict of Destruction in the crowd came out and stood beside Rahman, making their position clear.
"Godhunters! They are all Godhunters!" Eunice finally realised what was going on and angrily pointed at the crowd. She was so angry that her lovely body shook as she inwardly blamed herself for not discovering their identities sooner.
All the people standing beside Rahman were indifferent to Eunice's finger pointing.
"Kill them all, kill those damned godhunters! Their existence is our nightmare!" Lexis, who had been brought here with Han Shuo by Eunice, shouted righteously. He had always fawned over Eunice and was obviously trying to win her heart. He took this as an opportunity to woo her. The crowd immediately responded in approval, stirred by his cry.
Though Rahman had some twenty Godhunters cultivating in the energy of destruction at his side, only the divine guards that Barnett and Eunice had could match that number. In addition to the non-Godhunters, Lexis seemed to be on the winning side.
When Eunice saw Lexis taking the lead in helping her, she responded by smiling at him, perhaps to express her gratitude. Lexis, seeing that smile on her face, became even more excited and took the lead in marching towards Rahman, as if to win Eunice's approval by playing the hero.
Idiot! Han Shuo cursed in his heart. The fact that Rahman and his gang had so boldly revealed their identities to the public had amply demonstrated that Rahman was absolutely certain of victory. But the stunt Lexis had pulled must have made him tired of life.
And it was indeed as Han Shuo had expected. Before Lexis, his blood pumping with hormones, could get anywhere near Rahman, three Orbs of Destruction flew down in a crisscross pattern and bombarded him. He screamed loudly and pathetically. Before the eyes of the crowd, Lexis' thin body began to swell, growing to three times its size in an instant.
Pop! Lexis' body, rapidly swelling beyond its limits, shrank at an even faster rate. He collapsed powerlessly on the ground, blood pouring from every pore of his body.
"Children who are impulsive don't usually end up well!" Rahman remarked quietly. Soon after, he smiled mischievously and said, "Do you think we would have come here and shown ourselves without any preparation?"
Hearing these words, the small group that had followed Lexis in attacking Rahman and his band suddenly halted in their tracks. They were no longer acting blindly and without thinking.
"It hasn't been easy for us to create such an occasion where all the cultivators of the Edict of Destruction are gathered together. We are doing this with good intentions. As long as everyone cooperates with me, I believe the vast majority of you will be fine!" Rahman nodded in satisfaction as the people stopped advancing.
"Rahman, we will not agree to your terms! The Godhunters are a bunch of scoundrels wallowing in a cesspool. Do not think that we will join you in your evil deeds!" Barnett shouted coldly and took the lead in walking towards Rahman. The House of Croton divine guards and Eunice immediately followed.
"Whether you join me in my evil deeds or not, it's not up to you," Rahman sneered. Pointing to the Edict of Destruction Godhunters behind him, he said, "Look at them. Before, they knew nothing about consuming another's divine energy. But after I told them how, they became like me. Barnett, you would only say that because you have never experienced this wonderful feeling. Only when you have taken the energy of another person's death would you know what kind of ecstasy it is. Would you like to taste it?"
"I want to taste what it feels like to kill you!" Barnett was not deterred by Rahman's words and continued to march towards him.
"Barnett, be so impetuous. Aren't you curious about what I'm up to?" Seeing that persuasion was ineffective, Rahman switched to another approach - to arouse his curiosity.
Obviously, Rahman's new approach was working. Barnett stopped, stared at him and asked, "What are you going to do?"
"You'll find out very soon!" Rahman proudly pointed to the barrier surrounding them and shouted to the crowd, "The barrier is now shrinking. If you don't want to die, you'd better gather towards the centre. I will take you all to a place where you will not be killed by the destructive energy of the barrier!
Hearing these words, the crowd raised their heads and looked up. Sure enough, they discovered that the giant barrier that completely sealed off the entire training field was gradually shrinking under the power of the Orbs of Destruction. Sparks filled with the Aura of Destruction were bouncing off the barrier.
Meanwhile, the dark golden sphere that was still hovering above their heads had stopped spewing Orbs of Destruction. It felt like an eye looking down, exerting a terrifying pressure on the crowd.
Standing in the crowd, Han Shuo was certain that the dark golden orb was a very formidable divine weapon, the owner of which was a Highgod cultivating in the energy of destruction. Only a divine weapon in the hands of a Highgod could produce such terrifying results.
There were about three hundred Orbs of Destruction emanating from the dark golden orb. They all stuck to the barrier and rotated. Based on the limited knowledge Han Shuo had, he guessed that the master of the Dark Golden Sphere might be the person who first came up with the attack method and wrote the scroll he had purchased.
It was precisely for this reason that Han Shuo, who could have escaped by going underground with the Earth Elite Zombie, did not take advantage of the chaos and flee. Instead, he boldly chose to remain in the crowd, coldly and silently watching the situation unfold.
While the barrier around the training ground was still contracting, Rahman, already standing in the centre, deployed a Bidirectional Portal out of nowhere.
Bidirectional portals were a special divine device used for short distance transportation. They were all made by powerful gods cultivating in the Edict of Space, and were very precious. By setting up a pair of Bidirectional Portals, a person could travel freely from one portal to another. The mighty space god who first invented the Bidirectional Portals originally created them so that a couple of lovers who lived in different places could meet more easily.
This couple did not cultivate in the same type of energy. One of them cultivated in the northern part of Elysium, while the other cultivated in the southern part, where the elemental energy they each cultivated in was densest. Therefore, if they wanted to meet, they would have to make long journeys to cross at least half of the vast material plane. Bidirectional portals would obviously save them a great deal of time. Although a bidirectional portal could not perform interplanar transmissions, they were portable and very convenient. However, as Bidirectional Portals required relatively precious materials, and only Highgods cultivating the Edict of Space could refine one, they were extremely expensive, and the layman would never be able to possess one.
Rahman was only a Midgod of Darkness. Logically, it was impossible for him to possess such a valuable bidirectional portal. Therefore, as soon as Han Shuo had saw a Bidirectional Portal, he knew that it also belonged to the Master of the Dark Golden Sphere.
Rahman laughed heartily while Han Shuo pondered in his mind. Pointing to the open portal, Rahman announced with a smile, "All those who don't want to die, enter! Barnett, if you want to find out the situation, you must enter as well! I should tell you that the barrier around you was made with the divine weapon of a Highgod. If you don't enter, you will die!"
"Hmph, let's see what you're up to!" Barnett groaned coldly and stepped into the portal. However, his confidence seemed to be lacking a bit. Han Shuo knew that Barnett had no other choice.
"After you, my sweet darling. I will be with you shortly!" Rahman said, beaming from ear to ear when it was Eunice's turn.
Pooh! Eunice could no longer contain the disgust in her heart and spat a mouthful of saliva in Rahman's face.
However, Eunice was becoming increasingly nervous about her actions. Her Uncle Barnett had entered the bidirectional portal and most of the others were on Rahman's side. She was afraid that Rahman would turn violent.
Rahman, strangely, did not snap. Instead, he reached out with his index finger to wipe some of Eunice's saliva from his cheek and put it in his mouth. He even began to suck on it passionately in front of Eunice. His performance was obscene!
"Disgusting!" Eunice panicked and dared not look at Rahman. She crossed the Bidirectional Portal, humiliated and disgusted!
"Hahaha... Hahaha... " Rahman howled with laughter and seemed very pleased with himself. Then, when Eunice had completely disappeared into the portal, he suddenly turned cold. With an evil grin, he muttered to himself, "Eunice, you cannot escape from my palms! Soon I will make you taste something worse than death!"
The perimeter of the training ground shrank. One by one, the terrified crowd rushed into the portal. Soon it was Han Shuo's turn.
Rahman gasped and stared at Han Shuo for a moment before asking puzzled, "I know you. You read my scroll but did not seem repulsed. This indicates that you have considered using the absorbing method written on the scroll. But why did you take no action after that?"
Han Shuo had long known that Rahman was watching everything in his shop with a special device. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between those who would expose him and those who would eventually join him. So Han Shuo wasn't at all surprised that Rahman would ask like that. He replied with a smile, "That's right, I have read the scroll and am interested in doing so. However, certain things have delayed my journey and I have not found a target to act on!" He giggled.
"Haha, a kindred spirit! Once you enter, you will surely have a goal!" Rahman laughed maliciously and patted Han Shuo's shoulder. He should have taken Han Shuo as one of his own.
"I hope so too!" Han Shuo replied cheerfully and marched into the portal. In his mind, however, he was cursing, "Damn it, don't touch me with that filthy hand you put in your mouth!
