CHAPTER 687: Share Some With Me

After emerging from the other side of the portal, Han Shuo found himself in a valley shrouded in clouds and mist. There were cliffs in every direction, filled with deep caverns leading somewhere new. The ground seemed solid, a mixture of rock fragments.

Those who had come through the portal before Han Shuo were wandering around the valley, while Eunice and Barnett were whispering to each other in a corner, trying to come up with a countermeasure for the situation they were in.

Han Shuo expanded his consciousness. As soon as he began to survey the situation around him, he sensed the presence of a boundary high up in the cloud cover above him. This boundary, which emitted an obvious aura of destruction, suddenly reacted. It could tell that Han Shuo's consciousness was probing around. The mist and clouds in the area where Han Shuo's consciousness was travelling began to billow.

Han Shuo was astonished and immediately withdrew his consciousness. He did not know if his consciousness could penetrate the boundary, but since the boundary was sensitive enough to detect his consciousness, he decided not to take any chances to avoid attracting the attention of the master of this place.

At this point, those who emerged from the portal behind Han Shuo were godhunters who had surely become corrupted and beyond redemption. The excitement in their eyes shone even brighter after they stepped out of the portal. They stared at Han Shuo and the crowd like predators stalking their prey.

Rahman was the last to step through the portal. He should have withdrawn the dark golden orb that dispensed the Orbs of Destruction and the bidirectional portal in the training field. That way, the Croton family of Fort Verka wouldn't find any evidence of their sudden disappearance.

Immediately after exiting the portal, Rahman began to look around for Eunice. When her figure caught his eye, he began to smile darkly and pervertedly. Who knew what filthy ideas he had in his head.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the lair of our Godhunter Alliance. Allow me to introduce the head of the Destructive Energy Division, Lord Brovst!" Rahman shouted into a very large cave with a respectful look on his face.

"Rahman, thank you for your great work!" a voice suddenly sounded from the cave.

"It is an honour to serve you, Lord Brovst!" Rahman dared not be conceited. He continued in a loud voice, "My lord, I have brought practically every person who cultivates in the Edict of Destruction from Fort Verka. Does Your Lordship have any further orders?"

"Well done! Come in and receive the rewards you deserve. Also, return the two divine weapons I lent you," Brovst called from the cave in a deep voice, without revealing his true form.

Rahman was overjoyed. He pulled back the other pair of bidirectional portals and leapt into the cave.

Although Han Shuo could not see Brovst, nor could he sense the aura surrounding him, Han Shuo was absolutely certain that he was a terrifying Highgod. Han Shuo could be sure of this simply because he was the master of the Dark Golden Sphere.

After all, there was absolutely no way that a Midgod could assemble so many Orbs of Destruction containing such powerful destructive divine energy!

Soon, Rahman returned from the cave. He seemed to have obtained something he had wished for, and he seemed even more excited.

"Lord Brovst said that you, who cultivate in the energy of destruction, need only absorb the divine energy of one person around you to be considered one of us. Then you can leave this valley alive. But if you don't, you are destined to die! Rahman stood at the entrance to the cave and announced when he reappeared.

The non-godhunters were startled to hear these words. They kept a wary distance from those around them, lest they be sneaked up on.

Han Shuo had long foreseen that this would be their course of action - that Brovst had gone to great lengths to gather all the Destruction Edict cultivators in Fort Verka at this location. Therefore, it was obvious that his plan was not to simply kill them all. According to Rahman's words in his shop, the number of Godhunters cultivating in the Edict of Destruction was the lowest of all. Brovst must have had no subordinates available, so he asked someone cultivating in the energy of darkness to complete the plot. From this aspect, Han Shuo could tell that Brovst was severely lacking in manpower.

In fact, Han Shuo had personally experienced that wonderful feeling earlier when he had absorbed that old woman's divine energy with his Death Avatar. He knew more than anyone else that once a person had taken that first step, they would usually be unable to resist the terrible cravings that would constantly ravage their minds. They would drift closer and closer to the Godhunter Alliance and eventually become a part of it.

After all, there were not many out there like Han Shuo, who had begun to temper his willpower ever since he started cultivating the demonic arts. Unlike Han Shuo, it was almost impossible for them to break free from this powerful addiction.

Brovst gave his instructions because he knew this very well. He too believed that once these people had had a taste, they would never be able to resist and would eventually succumb and serve him.

Rahman's words had undoubtedly stirred the hearts of the people in the valley. Soon after Rahman's ultimatum, a huge scroll suddenly unfurled from the sky of clouds and mist. It detailed the method of absorbing another's destructive divine energy.

The non-Godhunters in the valley had not visited Rahman's scroll shop and had virtually no idea how to absorb someone else's destructive divine energy. Most of them reacted to the huge scroll with confused faces.

After a moment of careful observation, Han Shuo discovered that under the threat of death and the temptation of instant power, some of the people had secretly begun to memorise the contents of the scroll. The method was not difficult to learn. With proper instruction, virtually anyone could master it.

Those who gazed at the scroll and silently memorised its contents would definitely become Godhunters in the future. Meanwhile, those with a firm stance would have their willpower nibbled away by the great fear in their hearts.

Without the threat of death, the vast majority of these people would probably have ignored the scroll altogether. After all, the Godhunters were public enemies of all Elysium, despised by everyone. But now, with their lives threatened, resistance would mean that they would be gone forever. So they were forced to consider their options carefully.

"I will be watching your every move. Be at ease. Those who dare to act, even if your opponent is stronger than you, I will help you subdue him! I can even guarantee that as long as you join us, not only will you not be killed, but you will grow stronger even faster!" Brovst promised from his cave, helping those on the fence to make up their minds.

"Divine Essence is as rare as hen's teeth, but cultivators of the same energy can be found everywhere. These people are just living divine essences. Just try to imagine the wonderful feeling of absorbing someone else's energy to gain power. What a most pleasurable feeling..." Rahman babbled on, tempting the non-godhunters with his words.

With Brovst and Rahman persuading at the same time, Han Shuo noticed that those on the fence were obviously swayed. They too began to memorise the scripture and secretly circulate their divine energy as described.

The atmosphere in the valley suddenly became very eerie as everyone deliberately kept their distance from each other. Even the best of friends were wary of each other. At this moment, no one could be trusted, anyone could be an enemy.

The crowd, originally gathered in one large group, gradually spread out further and further. Meanwhile, the God Hunters had gathered into a group, coldly smirking and watching the crowd as if they were watching an entertaining play.

"What, what are you all doing?" Eunice, who was with Barnett, noticed the crowd splitting up and shouted in a somewhat panicked voice.

Everyone ignored her!

Even the guards under the House of Croton silently moved away from the duo. Their eyes flickered with indecision. No one but them knew what they had in mind.

By now, even Han Shuo was feeling a little uneasy. He wasn't afraid that someone in the crowd might attack him. He was worried about how to escape from this valley.

With the presence of Brovst, a fearsome Highgod, there was no practical way for Han Shuo to simply storm out of the ravine. Even if he summoned the elite earth and metal zombies, they would be in great trouble once Brovst discovered them.

Perhaps the only viable means of escape was to use the Demonic Blood Disassembly. However, using this demonic technique would consume a large amount of his Demonic Yuan. Han Shuo was reluctant to use this method except as a last resort.

Curiosity kills! Han Shuo inwardly blamed himself for staying when he knew there was danger. If he had summoned the Earth Elite Zombie back to the training ground and escaped through an underground tunnel, Han Shuo believed that no one would have been able to stop him. But now, he could not use that method here, not with Brovst in the valley.

What about absorbing someone else's divine energy? No, that won't work! Aside from somehow killing everyone here, the Godhunters might leak my identity and I will be framed as a Godhunter forever! Han Shuo was in a dilemma. He racked his brain to find a way out of the situation.

A muffled groan echoed clearly through the valley. Thinking hard, Han Shuo turned to look at the source of the sound. He saw a man swaying back and forth. He seemed to have suffered a sneak attack.

"Who? Who is it?" the man turned around and looked around with an angry look. As he turned his body, a small green arrow protruding from his back came into Han Shuo's view. The wound was oozing with foul blood. It appeared that the small arrow was laced with a powerful poison.

"My apologies, Anli. I know you hated the Godhunters and would never be one of them. Since you are going to die anyway, you might as well use it to give me a chance to live," a boy as thin as bamboo with a scar on his face pointed a delicate crossbow at him. He replenished the crossbow with his Divine Energy of Destruction.

"Lager, how, how could you? I saved your life once and this is how you repay me?" Anli, who had caught a poisoned arrow, stared at his attacker in disbelief. His bloodshot eyes were bulging, obviously extremely angry.

"Yes, I've always been grateful. That is why I let you rescue me once more. I believe you would be most willing to do so! Goodbye, Anli. I will always remember you for saving my life twice! "The skinny young man named Lager then fired three more small arrows of destructive divine energy in rapid succession.

Anli was obviously not so agile anymore. When Lager attacked Anli with all his strength at such close range, Anli only managed to deflect two of the three small arrows. He caught another arrow in his chest.

Then, taking advantage of an opening, Lager suddenly lunged at Anli and landed two blows. Destructive energy surged through Anli's body and he collapsed to the ground.

"People, this one is mine. Do what you want, but please don't take him from me!" Lager placed his two hands on Anli's back, raised his head and said to the crowd with a beaming smile. But for some reason, everyone in the valley was disgusted.

For a man to attack his saviour with such ruthlessness and determination, and not show the slightest sign of guilt from start to finish, he must be severely insane. No wonder he was the first to act!

People were usually most wary of this kind of character. The crowd unconsciously took a few steps back in front of his dazzling smile.

"Damn it, how can people like this exist?" even those who had become Godhunters couldn't help but express their disgust loudly. Godhunters couldn't help but hunt and absorb the energy of others. Aside from going out to hunt other cultivators with the same energy, godhunters were not that different from ordinary cultivators. They had their own circles of friends and felt the same emotions. Therefore, they were just as disgusted by someone as despicable as Lager.

The crowd had unconsciously opened up an even wider space around Lager. He began to absorb his saviour's divine energy as if no one else were there. As Anli screamed like a banshee, Lager seemed to grow more and more vicious to the crowd!

Suddenly, an inappropriate laugh came from a corner. "Would you mind sharing some with me? It would save me from having to find a prey!"

The crowd was shocked to hear these words. They wondered who would be so bold as to provoke Lager. So they turned to look in the direction from which the voice had come.

As the crowd watched intently, Han Shuo stepped forward with a confident stride. The smile on his face seemed even more sincere than Lager's. As he looked at Lager from a distance, he said, "I believe that a person with as much sense of gratitude as you have will surely not take offence!"

"Interesting, interesting!" Lager gave a slow clap as he laughed out loud. Then he beamed at Han Shuo and said, "Sure, but you better hurry. Otherwise I will take your share!"

"Then I will gladly take it!" Han Shuo laughed and suddenly sped up. He headed straight for the camp.

"I'm waiting!" Anli, who had been on his last legs when Lager stopped consuming his divine energy, suddenly stood up. He quickly aimed his crossbow at Han Shuo. Lager was a Mid-stage Lowgod. To most spectators, he was a dangerous character. His vicious temperament was especially feared.

Han Shuo did not respond, but instead charged at Lager with lightning speed. He obviously knew that Lager would not have responded in kind.
