"Hm." Han Shuo looked at the shopkeeper in a rather intrigued manner. Rather confused about her intentions, he asked with a charming smile, "What makes you think that I would be interested in such a thing?"
"You have enough crystal coins and care about the energy of destruction. You seem to be willing to spend a large sum of money on scrolls with real content. I dare to assure you that this scroll of mine is more useful than any other scroll here!" The young lady was composed and replied with a broad grin.
"What is the price? I should tell you in advance that if it's not worth what I'm paying for, I'll ask for a refund!"
"No problem. If you don't think it's worth it, I'll refund all the crystal coins!" the young lady said confidently. She looked left and right, making sure no one else was watching, and carefully pulled out a yellowish divine scroll. This scroll seemed to have been used several times.
"Forty purple crystal coins. Not a single one missing!" the young lady waved the scroll in front of Han Shuo and said unflinchingly.
"Here, forty purple crystal coins. Take it," Han Shuo pulled out forty purple crystal coins and handed them to her. He thought the price of the scroll was really high. Forty purple crystal coins could buy a lot more.
"Here is your scroll. You will not be disappointed. I can assure you of that!" the young lady confidently placed the yellowish scroll in Han Shuo's hand.
Han Shuo found it intriguing that the young lady was so confident, so he unfolded the scroll and took a look. He hastily memorised the contents of the scroll and immediately after, the yellowish divine scroll suddenly ignited and turned to ash.
"There will be no refunds now!" the young lady said hastily as Han Shuo burned the divine scroll to ashes in front of her.
"These forty purple crystal coins are yours," Han Shuo said in a deep voice.
"Would you like to read any more scrolls?" the young lady asked, pointing to the other scrolls under the boundary.
"No, thank you," Han Shuo shook his head. After muttering to himself, he asked, "This scroll you sold me, how did you get it?"
"My apologies, I have no comment on that." The young lady seemed worried. Then she continued, "It does not matter where the scroll came from. I have no idea what is written on it. There's no point in asking me any questions!"
Han Shuo nodded, looked at her for a moment and said goodbye.
The scroll that the young lady had sold him had indeed recorded the method of absorbing divine energy from another godly cultivator of the Edict of Destruction. Han Shuo could not understand why she would sell such a scroll.
For those who cultivated in the elemental energies, the method of absorbing another god's divine energy was very easy to grasp, even without any guidance. But when it came to the four edict energies, it was not so easy.
Only the Godhunters possessed the methods for devouring the edict divine energies. In most places on Elysium, this type of person was hunted down and persecuted. The average being usually had no way of coming into contact with them.
Shockingly, however, the divine scroll that the young lady had sold to Han Shuo actually detailed the method of devouring the divine destructive energy of others. Han Shuo reduced it to ashes as soon as he had read it, as these things were very illegal and forbidden.
Han Shuo couldn't tell if the young lady actually knew anything about the contents of the scroll. She was cultivating in the energy of darkness and her strength was puny. Logically, she should not be able to understand what was described in the scroll. However, when she sold the scroll to Han Shuo, she seemed full of confidence, as if she knew exactly what was written inside. Han Shuo became suspicious.
Although Han Shuo had left the Divine Scroll Shop, he had also left behind a mystical demon to spy on her.
Han Shuo learned that in the short span of half a day, the young lady had sold the same scroll to others by repeating the same modus operandi. The buyers were all cultivators of the Edict of Destruction. From the Mystical Demon's reconnaissance, Han Shuo saw that the scrolls she was selling were exactly the same as the one he had purchased with forty purple crystal coins. She seemed to have an unlimited copy of the scroll on how to absorb the Divine Energy of Destruction.
Sensing that something fishy was going on, Han Shuo continued to watch the young lady with a mystical demon. Eventually, as the sky darkened, she encountered a sinister old man in the back room of the shop. The old man was sitting on a rocking chair that swayed back and forth in time to the music. He was a midgod of darkness. His smiling eyes were fixed on the young lady.
The young lady, who had a big smile on her face when she faced Han Shuo, had a frightened face when she faced the old man. She respectfully reported, "Lord Rahman, I have sold seven copies today."
The old man named Rahman smiled sinisterly and said, "Not bad. Hehe, guess how many of the seven will fall to temptation and become new members of our Godhunter Alliance?"
"Your humble servant has no idea," the young lady shook her head.
"Haha, neither do I. But I'm very much looking forward to finding out the answer! If it weren't for the fact that the method of absorbing the energy of destruction is rather difficult to grasp, we wouldn't have to come to this. There are too few members of the Alliance who cultivate in the energy of destruction. We have no choice but to recruit new members in this way. Those who are oppressed in their daily lives have only followed the rules and conventions because they do not know the method of consuming divine energy. Once they learn how to absorb the divine energy of other cultivators of the Edict of Destruction, the temptation will slowly eat away at their willpower. Bit by bit, they will fall to our side.
"My Lord, some of them have become suspicious of me after reading the scroll. If they report this to the House of Croton, we could be in trouble!" the young lady hesitated for a moment before saying worriedly.
"Don't worry, I have taken care of these people. There won't be a problem. Besides, there aren't many real experts in this little Fort Verka. Even if we were discovered, we could easily escape," Rahman said calmly. He let out a soft, lascivious laugh. In one fell swoop, he grabbed the young lady in his embrace and quickly undressed her completely. He then made the young lady spread her legs wide and saddled her on his crotch. The rocking chair rocked violently.
Having understood the ins and outs of the plan, Han Shuo withdrew his mystical demon.
He was somewhat surprised - even the God Hunters had formed their own alliance. What Rahman was doing was secretly recruiting new members for the Godhunter Alliance. For the cultivators of the eight elemental energies, it was quite easy to consume someone else's divine energy. It wasn't so easy for the cultivators of the four edict powers. In order to recruit more Edict of Destruction cultivators, Rahman revealed the method of consuming another's divine energy to the gods who cultivated in the Edict of Destruction. Then, when some of them succumbed to the temptation, they would voluntarily join as new members of the Godhunter Alliance.
This was the first time Han Shuo had heard of the Godhunter Alliance. Even Donna did not mention it to him. The Godhunters could be described as the public enemy of Elysium. This bunch of unique madmen was heavily hunted in every single Overgod Dominion. If one of them made the slightest mistake in a major city, they would suffer a catastrophic blow.
Every city had enough divine guards and formidable leaders. These godhunters wouldn't be so bold as to recruit new members in large cities. They would only do so in fortresses like Fort Verka, where defences and surveillance were inadequate. Even if they were exposed, they could easily leave and escape without much harm.
Rahman was clearly a member of the Godhunter Alliance, but Han Shuo had no idea of his rank in the organisation. Since Rahman was cultivating in the elemental energy of darkness, he wasn't too interested in him.
Although the Godhunter Alliance was extremely repulsive and vile, they had not really harmed Han Shuo. Therefore, even though he was aware of the plan, he decided to ignore the matter.
The mystical demon silently crossed Rahman's boundary of darkness and returned to Han Shuo. Instead of going to the City of Shadows immediately, Han Shuo went to a gym and planned to stay there for some time. He wanted to spend time researching and mastering the Orb of Destruction.
There were plenty of gyms and training grounds in Fort Verka, as long as you had enough Crystal Coins. With three purple crystal coins, Han Shuo rented a training ground of several million square feet, complete with an isolation barrier, for half a year.
By following the method of condensing an Orb of Destruction outlined in the scroll, in two months, Han Shuo had successfully condensed his divine destructive energy into an orb that emitted an intense aura of destruction. The orb was dark in colour and about the size of a palm. Divine energy seemed to swirl within the orb like a liquid.
As the Orb of Destruction took shape, one-fifth of Han Shuo's destructive divine energy was diverted and collected in the orb. To continue, Han Shuo attempted to manipulate the Orb of Destruction into a trajectory recorded on the scroll. However, he was unable to do so. He knew that the scroll's author had deliberately distorted or omitted certain information so that the reader could not truly unleash the full power of the Orb of Destruction.
However, Han Shuo had a powerful consciousness and a great deal of patience. He believed that if he continued to experiment and perfect the Orb of Destruction with the help of his miraculous consciousness, he would be able to truly master the attack method.
One day, while Han Shuo was still trying to figure out the correct way to manipulate the Orb of Destruction in his training field, bells suddenly rang at his front door.
Immediately, Han Shuo returned his Avatar of Destruction to the Cauldron of Myriad Demon . Confused, he walked to the front door of his training field and asked, "Zoya, did I not mention that I do not wish to be disturbed by anyone?"
"I am sorry, but there are officers who wish to see you," Zoya replied in a helpless voice. He was the person in charge of the training area. According to the rules, as long as the patron had paid sufficient fees for the duration of their use, they were not to be disturbed.
"Are you Bryan? An Energy of Destruction cultivator?" a young woman with a graceful physique and scattered red hair that looked like a waterfall sized up Han Shuo before asking.
"That's right. How can I help you?" Han Shuo asked confused. He could tell that this woman was also cultivating in the Energy of Destruction, and had reached the late stage of Lowgod Strength. She was in a slightly higher realm compared to Han Shuo's Avatar of Destruction.
"In recent days, many Edict of Destruction cultivators have been found dead in Fort Verka, their divine energies drained. They must have fallen prey to other cultivators with the same energy. I've been ordered to interrogate every suspicious person.
Come for a walk with us," the young woman gave a brief explanation before turning and walking away. She gestured to Han Shuo and the divine guards behind her to keep up with her.
