After arriving at the fort, Han Shuo handed his divine tablet and fifty blue crystal coins to an officer. The officer scanned Han Shuo's divine tablet by placing it on a pentagonal magical device, then nodded his head and returned the divine tablet to Han Shuo, indicating that he could enter.
The Divine Tablet was like a travel pass to Elysium. Without a divine tablet, a person's identity could not be determined, and therefore they would not be allowed to enter the fortress. You would also need fifty blue crystal coins to pay the entrance fee.
After observing for a while, Han Shuo noticed that among the endless stream of people entering the fort, the weakest of them possessed demigod strength. The vast majority of them were basegods and lowgods. Only a few of them were midgods, and not a single one of them was a highgod.
Han Shuo followed the crowd and entered the fort in order. It was only after he arrived at the gates that he learned that this place was called Fort Verka.
The first thing that caught Han Shuo's eye upon entering Fort Verka was a line of divine guards in dark armour. They were vigilantly watching the arriving crowd and keeping order.
After carefully eavesdropping for some time, Han Shuo learned that Fort Verka was administered by the House of Croton. They were responsible for enforcing taxes, ensuring the safety of Fort Verka, and maintaining order within the fort.
Donna had previously explained to Han Shuo that there were countless family clans that filled every corner of Elysium. They pledged their lives and complete devotion to the twelve Overgods and served as viceroys to their respective Overgods. Some ancient clans were so powerful that they could rule over more than one city. Some family clans were weaker and could only control a few strongholds or towns. The House of Croton, which was in charge of Fort Verka, was a small, third-rate family clan.
However, after entering Fort Verka, Han Shuo discovered that this fortress was at least five times the size of Brettel City. Its population was only in the thousands, with the vast majority of the population being demigods and basegods. Only about three hundred of them were truly in the ranks of the lowgods, with only a dozen or more midgods.
Han Shuo did not leave Fort Verka in a hurry. Instead, he wandered through the streets and alleys of the fort, learning the differences between the Profound Continent and Elysium. With no expert in Fort Verka to threaten his life, Han Shuo boldly let Cauldron Spirit release a few demon generals. With the demon generals flying all around Fort Verka, Han Shuo was able to get an idea of the overall situation of the fort very quickly.
There wasn't much difference between Fort Verka and the towns on the Profound Continent. All of the fort's inhabitants were subject to the rule of the House of Croton and had to pay them a certain amount of taxes each year. In return, the House of Croton would ensure their safety and allow them to cultivate in peace.
After a round of probing with the Mystical Demons, Han Shuo noticed one major difference - every single person's main purpose was to cultivate and increase their strength. From his extensive survey of Fort Verka, Han Shuo discovered all kinds of large and small shops. Most of the items for sale were various types of low-level divine weapons, materials for refining divine weapons, and divine scrolls containing basic knowledge of various types of energy.
There were also many divine gyms. In these facilities, the gods could share their cultivation knowledge, as well as play friendly games with each other safely within a large defensive barrier to strengthen themselves.
When Han Shuo found that divine scrolls of all elements were being traded, he was tempted. He immediately made his way to the largest divine scroll store in the fortress.
Since his separation from Akley, Han Shuo's two avatars had been absorbing the divine essences of death and destruction within the Cauldron of Myriad Demon . His Avatar of Death, which had absorbed a portion of that old Godhunter's divine energy, had reached the late stage of the Lowgod Realm right after absorbing two pieces of Death Divine Essence.
This avatar of Han Shuo's had previously assimilated the divine soul of a midgod, thus gaining all of his insight and understanding of the Death Element. With this advantage, Han Shuo was able to easily advance to the late stage of the Lowgod realm by accumulating and deepening his Divine Death Energy to a certain level.
In the recent period, instead of absorbing more Divine Essence, Han Shuo had his Death Avatar familiarise itself with its new realm and stabilise it. His Death Avatar would spend time learning to appreciate the true essence of Death Energy and attempt to master some new attack methods.
As for the Avatar of Destruction, Han Shuo was quite worried. After absorbing two pieces of the Divine Essence of Destruction, Han Shuo felt that the Divine Energy in his avatar had reached its critical point. At this stage, Han Shuo needed to deepen his knowledge and understanding of the energy of Destruction, or he would not be able to break through to the late stage realm no matter how many more Divine Essences he absorbed. Unfortunately, unlike his Avatar of Death, his Avatar of Destruction had not assimilated any divine souls from a higher realm. Any small advancement in godhood would be a long process. The insight he had gained from the destruction of the Ninth Realm Mystical Yin Harvester, and from watching others use the Edict of Destruction, seemed to be insufficient to allow him to advance from his current realm.
Han Shuo had been worried about this in the recent time. So when he heard that divine scrolls were for sale in this Fort Verka, his interest was immediately piqued. He hoped that the divine scrolls would contain something useful.
After entering the divine scroll shop, Han Shuo began to look around. He discovered all kinds of scrolls on display. However, most of these scrolls were only useful to demigods and basegods. Scrolls that described the process of breaking through from the basegod realm to the lowgod realm were especially plentiful.
If even one of these scrolls found its way to the Profound Continent, Han Shuo believed that it would be an invaluable treasure that all mages and swordsmen would fight over. From the clearly marked prices of the scrolls in this shop, it was clear that scrolls of this type were quite common and nothing out of the ordinary on this plane.
The number of gods on Elysium was countless. Some gods who were fresh off the boat and had no crystal coins might decide to write down their own knowledge, tips and insights on how to become a god in scrolls and try to sell them to demigods and basegods to earn some crystal coins.
For this reason, such scrolls were plentiful. However, since the steps and experiences described in the scrolls varied from one author to the next, and some of them were poor writers, the scrolls were not all equally useful and effective.
Those of Midgod strength and above would have virtually no worries about making a living on Elysium. Even if a Midgod arrived on Elysium without a penny to his name, he would find emissaries from all the major family clans trying to recruit him. They had absolutely no need to worry about obtaining crystal coins.
For this very reason, scrolls containing the cultivation experiences of Midgods were almost non-existent on the market. Those Midgods wouldn't be willing to expend effort and energy just to earn that small amount of extra crystal coins. Of course, Highgods, who were basically at the peak of their powers, would never do such a thing. Except for their own descendants and progeny, they would never reveal their knowledge to anyone, not even their friends.
Han Shuo did not know if the cultivation experiences recorded in the scroll would actually be useful to him. Therefore, he wanted to examine some of them first. After reaching the destructive energy category, Han Shuo lowered his head and found a bunch of scrolls underneath a barrier. The prices ranged from three to ten purple crystal coins.
Can I have a look before I buy?" Han Shuo raised his head, turned to a young lady with a sweet look on her face, and asked. She was cultivating in the elemental energy of darkness and only possessed Basegod power.
"I am sorry, divine scrolls are not like other goods. The contents of a scroll might only be a few sentences long. If you memorise the contents without buying it, we will lose money!" the young lady explained with a professional smile.
"Very well, give me the scroll worth three purple crystal coins!" Han Shuo pulled out three purple crystal coins and handed them to the young lady with a smile.
"Of course!" The young lady pulled out a piece of blue stone and aimed it at the scroll. Immediately, the divine scroll with the price of three purple crystal coins flew out of the boundary and stuck to the stone in her hand.
"Thank you for your purchase!" the young lady handed the scroll to Han Shuo. She seemed to be in a pretty good mood.
Han Shuo unrolled the scroll, flipped through a few pages, and started reading the scroll right in front of the young lady. After a few minutes, Han Shuo was obviously deeply disappointed.
The contents of the scroll were merely the understanding of a low god of destruction who had just become a lowgod. This person's strength probably wasn't even at Han Shuo's level. There was nothing of substance on the scroll, and it did not help Han Shuo one bit. Three purple crystal coins were wasted just like that.
"Do you want to buy more scrolls? I believe the divine scroll that costs ten purple crystal coins will be more suitable for you," the young lady with a broad smile asked Han Shuo.
"Let's have a look!" Han Shuo had looted a hundred or more purple crystal coins from the bodies of Kaiser and Eriksson, so he wasn't particularly short of purple crystal coins. As he spoke, he pulled out ten purple crystal coins and handed them to her.
"Alright!" the young lady smiled sweetly and accepted Han Shuo's purple crystal coins. After handing Han Shuo the divine scroll he had purchased, she said smilingly, "Different prices contain information of different levels. Perhaps this will have what you are looking for!"
"Let's hope so!" Han Shuo replied casually. He unrolled the divine scroll and began to read in front of her again.
Han Shuo gasped in surprise. Although this divine scroll did not contain any useful knowledge, it did describe an attack method called the Orb of Destruction. It worked by rapidly condensing divine energy into a sphere and swirling it around the Domain of Divinity in a manner consistent with the Edict of Destruction.
The scroll detailed the method of condensing divine energy into an orb, but was rather vague on how to properly spin the orb in the Domain of Divinity. It seemed as if the author had deliberately hidden it. From the looks of it, the author should have figured out this attack method on his own, and was forced by circumstances to write a scroll and sell it for crystal coins. At the same time, however, the author did not want others to fully understand his attack method, so he deliberately wrote about it in the most confusing way.
"This isn't bad!" Han Shuo nodded with a smile. He turned to look at the few remaining scrolls under the border and was ready to buy them all. But before he could, the young lady suddenly smiled and said, "I have a special scroll on the Edict of Destruction. I think you will be interested in it!".
