The Night Before the Move

The night in the Capital of Gama remained quiet after Alaric's magic summoned hundreds of rats to infiltrate the palace. Desy Lukeberg's small house, where they took refuge, had returned to its peaceful state after the commotion caused by the rats. However, inside Zanuba, it was anything but peaceful. The plan to reclaim her throne spun in her head, growing stronger with each passing second.

"Wait until my rats return with information," Alaric said casually, his hand cupping a tea mug that Desy had just served. "There's no need to rush."

Zanuba, feeling infuriated by the situation, stood up and slammed the table hard. "I don't have time to wait for your rats, Alaric! Reeve won't stop hunting me. Every minute I spend waiting is more time for him to send more assassins!"

Alaric calmly sipped his tea, unfazed by Zanuba's outburst. "It's better we know what we're up against than rushing in blindly, don't you think?"
