Chapter 40: New Broadcasting Member

As Lin Miaomiao stepped into the radio station, she noticed the accumulation of dust on the floor and decided to take matters into her own hands. Grabbing a broom, she began sweeping diligently, determined to tidy up the space.

Teacher Yang entered the broadcasting room and upon seeing Lin Miaomiao sweeping, he nodded approvingly. He admired her hardworking attitude and dedication to the radio station. "Lin Miaomiao," he called out.

Lin Miaomiao turned around, surprised to see Teacher Yang. "Yes?" she responded.

"I've found another member for the radio station," he informed her.

"Huh?" Lin Miaomiao was puzzled, thinking that having Ye Bai join them was already sufficient.

"I understand your confusion, but the principal recommended this student since he doesn't have a club yet," Teacher Yang explained.

Realizing that the newcomer must be a novice, Lin Miaomiao smiled and replied, "That's great! I'll do my best to guide him."

She saluted Teacher Yang, promising to fulfill her duties diligently. "I'll make sure we complete this task," she affirmed.

"Good. Lead him well," Teacher Yang instructed, gesturing for the student waiting outside to enter. Curious, Lin Miaomiao attempted to catch a glimpse of the newcomer, anticipating who she would be mentoring. However, her smile faltered when she saw Qian Sanyi step into the room with an air of pride.

"Why is it always you?" Lin Miaomiao couldn't help but blurt out.

"Miaomiao, please be polite," Teacher Yang reprimanded gently before explaining how the principal had recommended Qian Sanyi as a member of the radio station.

Lin Miaomiao nudged Qian Sanyi and whispered, "Hey, this is Social Science territory. Why does a student of Natural Science come here?"

Qian Sanyi looked down at her with a hint of superiority. "The principal appreciates both Natural and Social Sciences," he responded coolly.

"Oh, I see! What goes around comes around. Hahaha!" Lin Miaomiao exclaimed excitedly, raising her hand in amusement.

Qian Sanyi regarded her with a puzzled expression, while Teacher Yang gave her a bemused look. "Lin Miaomiao. Calm down."

Lin Miaomiao quickly lowered her hand and straightened up, standing like a soldier. She walked over to Qian Sanyi with a professional demeanor. "You know, don't think that just because of a recommendation letter, you can gain experience immediately," she stated firmly, eyeing Qian Sanyi before pacing around the room. "The broadcasting station is significant, with heavy responsibility and deep meaning."

Teacher Yang, overhearing Lin Miaomiao's words, nodded in agreement.

"Once you work in a broadcasting station, you have to demonstrate respectable behavior," Lin Miaomiao continued, emphasizing the importance of professionalism in their work.

Qian Sanyi listened with boredom as Lin Miaomiao spoke, his eyes wandering around the radio station.

"The rules," Teacher Yang interjected, passing a folder to Lin Miaomiao.

Accepting the folder, Lin Miaomiao passed it to Qian Sanyi with a smile. "Yes, rules. You have to learn it by heart and action. 'I'll be keeping an eye on you later'. Hold onto it," she said, flashing a smile.

Qian Sanyi caught the hint that she was turning his own words against him, but he didn't take the folder Miaomiao was offering.

Noticing his hesitation, Lin Miaomiao gave him a stern look. "Manager."

Teacher Yang, who had turned to tidy up papers on the shelf, glanced back at them. "Keep it," he instructed.

With no other option, Qian Sanyi reluctantly took the folder.

"I will add something for you," Lin Miaomiao said, her tone playful yet commanding. "The rule here is when you meet me here, you have to change and call me master." With a glare at Qian Sanyi, she then turned and approached the manager, putting on a flattering demeanor. "Manager, the first time I joined, you taught me that our job requires a lot of communication, so we cannot be shy, can we?"

Teacher Yang nodded in agreement. "Yes, it's true."

Lin Miaomiao shifted her attention back to Qian Sanyi, speaking to him as if she were toying with him. "Qian Sanyi, I feel that you are quite shy. Even 'master' cannot be called. How will we cooperate later, huh?"

Feeling pressured by Lin Miaomiao's rhythm, Qian Sanyi felt compelled to address her as 'master'. "What a good dream," he muttered.

Upon hearing this, Lin Miaomiao smirked and turned to Teacher Yang. "Manager."

Teacher Yang looked at Qian Sanyi expectantly. "Call it, it's the rules"

Aggrieved by the situation, Qian Sanyi reluctantly murmured, "M-master."

Lin Miaomiao's smile widened. "Eyy, that's right. This master will understand you. It's natural to feel shy the first time. You'll get used to it in time." she give him an encouraging tap on his shoulder.

Lin Miaomiao passed the broom to Qian Sanyi with a sense of finality. "Here, do your first task," she instructed.

Feeling defeated, Qian Sanyi accepted the broom, unable to shake off his dispirited mood.

Teacher Yang rose from his chair, signaling his departure. "Also, you will be on duty tomorrow. Your senior can't attend the radio duty because she was a little sick. I will go first. Miaomiao, teach him well, and Sanyi, do your work," he directed before leaving the room.

Lin Miaomiao saluted in acknowledgment and happily complied with Teacher Yang's commands.

As Qian Sanyi finished cleaning the floor, Lin Miaomiao proceeded to teach him how the equipment worked. To his surprise, she did so seriously, without making any belittling remarks. "Do you understand? You look like you're in a daze," she remarked, snapping her fingers to bring his attention back.

Nodding, Qian Sanyi replied, "I understand," his gaze meeting Lin Miaomiao's serious expression.

"Tomorrow, you will be the one to start the program. I will come a little later. Do you understand?" Lin Miaomiao asked, her tone serious.

"Yes," Qian Sanyi answered.

"I didn't hear you clearly," Lin Miaomiao teased, smirking slightly.

"Yes, M-master," Qian Sanyi corrected himself.

"Good! Okay, dismissed," Lin Miaomiao declared, standing up and walking out of the room, leaving Qian Sanyi inside.

...

As the last day of training approached, Teacher Zhang Rongbao gathered the team for final preparations. He was the head teacher of Mathematics and led the team in this competition.

"How is everyone feeling? Tomorrow is the first day, and Qian Sanyi will be the first to compete," Zhang Rongbao reassured the team.

Ye Bai wasn't nervous, but he felt anxious. He had been absent for two days already, and he would miss two more days due to the competition. Glancing at his phone, he couldn't shake off the guilt of not informing Lin Miaomiao before leaving. While he was in training, she was at school, and the thought weighed on his mind.

As Ye Bai grappled with his thoughts, he couldn't shake the weight of the issue between him and Lin Miaomiao. He recognized that his actions had been impulsive, but he also didn't want Miaomiao to be hurt in any way.

The question of whether he should apologize lingered in his mind, adding to his burden. Ye Bai found himself torn between his feelings and his uncertainty about how to navigate the situation.

Moreover, he couldn't help but question the nature of his feelings for Lin Miaomiao. Did he genuinely like her for who she was, or was his attraction influenced by her resemblance to Zhao Jinmai?

These questions left Ye Bai feeling conflicted and unsure about how to proceed. He knew that resolving these internal struggles was essential before he could address the situation with Lin Miaomiao.

...

It's been two days, and the absence of Ye Bai from school weighed heavily on Lin Miaomiao's mind. As she sat at the table, she absentmindedly reached for yet another snack, her troubled thoughts evident in her furrowed brow. 'Did he really escape the consequences of his actions?'

Deng Xiaoqi observed Lin Miaomiao's snack consumption with concern. "Miaomiao, that's your fifth snack already. I feel bloated just watching you," she remarked, trying to bring attention to her friend's unusual behavior.

With a sigh, Lin Miaomiao quietly stuffed the snack into her mouth, her troubled expression deepening.

Sensing something amiss, Deng Xiaoqi pressed further. "Lin Miaomiao, tell me what's bothering you," she urged, her voice filled with genuine concern.

Lin Miaomiao glanced at Deng Xiaoqi, grappling with how to explain her feelings. She couldn't bring herself to share the incident on the bus, knowing it would only add to her friend's worry. Instead, she forced a small smile, trying to deflect the conversation.

As Deng Xiaoqi rose from her seat and moved behind Lin Miaomiao, she began gently combing her friend's hair, the comforting gesture meant to soothe her troubled mind. "Miaomiao, don't let it get to you. By the way, why did Teacher Yang call you?" she inquired, hoping to shift the focus.

Suddenly, Lin Miaomiao's eyes sparkled with newfound enthusiasm. She grabbed Deng Xiaoqi's hand, pulling her down to sit beside her. "Today, my confidence returned," she declared with a hint of excitement.

Intrigued, Deng Xiaoqi leaned in, eager to hear more. "What happened?" she asked curiously.

Lin Miaomiao's smile widened as she shared the news. "Qian Sanyi is now a member of the radio station," she revealed, a sense of optimism returning to her voice.

Deng Xiaoqi's eyes widened in surprise as she glanced at Lin Miaomiao, who was fervently devouring her snack between sentences. "How come? Why did it happen?" Deng Xiaoqi asked her tone a mix of curiosity and concern.

"The principal gave him a recommendation letter because he didn't have a club, so they gave him a slot in the radio station," Lin Miaomiao explained.

"If I knew he would be in the radio station, I would have come when you invited me," Deng Xiaoqi said, sounding disappointed, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her hair.

Lin Miaomiao chuckled, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Hahaha! He's now in my hands. I'll show him how salty the salt is and how sour the vinegar is. He'll pay for those days he mocked me."

Deng Xiaoqi watched her friend with a mixture of concern and amusement, her eyebrows furrowing slightly. While Lin Miaomiao was engrossed in her food, Deng Xiaoqi took the opportunity to discreetly glance at her reflection in her compact mirror, running a brush through her hair. "Please calm down, that's our Yiyi," Deng Xiaoqi advised, her eyes returning to Lin Miaomiao.

"I don't care who he is. He's still great on the basketball team, and there are more clubs in the Natural Science department he could have chosen. Yet, he insists on choosing our broadcasting club," Lin Miaomiao continued, her voice rising with frustration as she punctuated her words with sharp gestures.

"Who says only Social Science students have permission to work in a broadcasting club?" Deng Xiaoqi retorted.

"Deng Xiaoqi, don't let his handsomeness bewitch you. Our Social Science department is already struggling enough. The number of students enrolling in our department has decreased recently, while the Natural Science department keeps growing every year. It's a good thing we had Ye Bai in our class," Lin Miaomiao said, her gaze drifting to Xiaoqi, who was preoccupied with her reflection in the mirror.

Deng Xiaoqi observed her friend's passionate outburst with a mixture of admiration, her fingers pausing in their movements as she listened intently to Lin Miaomiao's words. "It's hard to find a quiet place, and now a Natural Science student has invaded my territory. How can I allow that?" Miaomiao chuckled suddenly.

Deng Xiaoqi blinked, a bit taken aback by her friend's sudden change in demeanor. "What do you want to do?"

As Lin Miaomiao plotted her playful revenge, her fingers danced across the table, tapping out an imaginary rhythm. "You just wait and see the play. I want to educate 'Jin Mao Hou Qian Sanyi' and turn him into a royal pet," she exclaimed, her eyes twinkling mischievously.

Deng Xiaoqi watched her friend's animated gestures, her head tilting slightly in confusion. "What is 'Jin Mao Hou'?" she asked, her fingers absentmindedly twirling a lock of hair.

"It is the heinous aggressive demon in Journey to the West and is controlled by Guanyin to become an animal to ride," Miaomiao explained, her hands mimicking the transformation.

Deng Xiaoqi's expression shifted to one of understanding. "Ah, I want to be Guanyin," she declared playfully.

"Nah," Miaomiao shook her head, her hands gesturing dramatically. "I'm Guanyin."

Deng Xiaoqi looked at her friend, bemused. "So you mean you want to collect our Yiyi to be your own?"

"No! I'll just teach him some good manners," Miaomiao clarified, "I do it on behalf of the god. I help you to destroy his arrogance. Tomorrow I will lord over him."

Miaomiao paused, her fingers tapping thoughtfully on the table. "Temperature warning machine, checking mails, sorting documents, finding musical resources, tidying up—I will assign all of them to Qian Sanyi," she declared, her voice filled with satisfaction. "Since I've been a student, this is the time I will not do anything anymore," she exclaimed, clapping her hands with excitement. "So cool."

Deng Xiaoqi looked sad, "Our Yiyi will have a hard time in the coming days."

Lin Miaomiao leaned back in her chair, a mischievous glint in her eye as she propped her feet on top of the table. "A person who has a high score but bad capacity like him—I want to see him confused later, unable to do well," she remarked, her hands folding behind her head in satisfaction.

I've written up to Chapter 55, but as I reread the chapters, I'm somewhat disappointed with my writing style. I'm not sure if it's an improvement or not because every line, I always explain who said what and their reactions. Sometimes it becomes annoying. Is it annoying? Please give feedback on my writing style.
