Young and reckless

"What happened?", Ean asked as she passed Ms Gigi by.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted me to come closer or you know… so I just stood by. By the way that boy-", Ms Gigi replied but was cut off by Ean.

Ean shook her head and said, "I was asking about why I couldn't reach you, and why you didn't try to find me"

"Well I tried to call you but I couldn't reach you, and the driver couldn't either. So I tried to go pick you up from school, but I couldn't find you. Then I borrowed someone else's phone and tried to call you, but you didn't pick up. Then we got down from the car to look for you in case you ran home…", Ms Gigi sheepishly explained.

Ean stopped and turned to look at her, "Why would I run home? Do I look crazy?"

"Ah yes, I thought so too, because the distance between Arcane High and the manor is too great. That was why we were looking for you instead.", Ms Gigi beamed and became proud of herself for making such judgement.

"You thought I was crazy?", Ean had spotted the driver from afar and walked towards him.

Ms Gigi was stunned and quickly replied, "Ye- no no! I didn't, I was sure you wouldn't run home that was why I remained at school to look for you."

"That's not what you said", Ean had already reached the car, and continued to tease her shy assistant.

"Young miss, we finally found you! I apologize for our tardiness so pl-", the driver quickly spoke up, immediately Ean was within his proximity.

"It's okay, I'm guessing it wasn't your fault", Ean interrupted him.

"Oh, then I'm glad. By the way, how was your first day?", The driver let out a sigh of relief, then asked Ean as he entered the vehicle.

"It was… good", Ean did not know how she would describe her first day of school, but she knew it was anything but bad.

"Ahh that's great", The driver ignited the vehicle after Ms Gigi got in.

He manuervered the car out of the parking lot, and prepared to drive them home.

Ean did not say anything and was thinking about the unusual incidents that happened today.

Ean smiled to herself as she considered Mason's advice.

She couldn't keep a high profile, that was somewhat impossible and the thought of it made her uncomfortable.

Especially after she found out the idiot who messed with her results and Ciara were connected. So, suddenly going all out would make it look like she was scared of them?!

"Argh this is so annoying", Ean mumbled to herself, and couldn't help but feel upset at Crystal.

If it wasn't for her all this wouldn't be happening in the first place.

Due to many reasons, most of them which were unknown to her. No one actually knew her, how she looked like or what her actual name was.

Even if they did, they probably never thought she had silver hair which was quite unusual, but not to the point where she doubted her actual identity.

So that easily meant, Ean stone is just another student, a very lucky student, who managed to attend the top school on the island, on scholarship.

After her first day of school, Ean no longer disliked it, in fact she longed for a second third and fourth one, but she disliked Crystal's intervention.

Normally she would have asked to be transferred but Arcane High was truly a special one, with so many intriguing people in it.

Maybe Crystal was expecting that. Could there be a reason she did not want her to go to Arcane high with her real name?

But they the ones who found the school for her, so what could be the problem?

There was something going on here, but who was manipulating things? Crystal? If she was, then she would have fallen into her own trap, and I don't think that's her style.

"Who exactly is on my side…?", she muttered thoughtfully.

Ean remembered that Nicholas was filming her, then she smiled and thought; I wonder what they'll do with that video.

Right after having that thought she turned to Ms Gigi who was right beside her, and said;

"Ms Gigi I don't want you to pick me up from school anymore. Just wait for me to call you, and when I do…", Ean paused and thought for a bit.

Ms Gigi was surprised and turned to Ean to ask why, but Ean spoke up right before she could ask.

"Wait for me at that plaza that's right around the corner"

"Why don't you want me to pick you up anymore, is it because of what happened today?", Ms Gigi asked nervously.

"No, I have my reasons", Ean replied then closed her eyes to rest.

She wasn't asleep so she could feel Ms Gigi's gaze on her. With a sigh, Ms Gigi turned away, and Ean finally relaxed.

'What happened has already happened, I should probably focus on what's going to happe next. But first, I need Diamond to get me a new phone…', Ean thought silently, but she couldn't arrive at a conclusion because of Ms Gigi's intervention.

"Young Miss, that boy from earlier… is he a friend?", Ms Gigi carefully asked. She did not doubt what she saw, she just wanted to keep her imagination from running wild.

"Yeah, something of the sort.", Ean replied after some careful thinking.

"I see", Ms Gigi was not able to ask anymore questions, so the journey back home continued in silence.

After some moments of deep thinking, Ean suddenly called out in a low voice, "Ms Gigi?"

"Yes?", Ms Gigi was startled but immediately responded.

"The bridge project, how… deep are we into it?"

"Well let's see, after the submission of our contract plan, the acquisition of the project, and the bid, all that's left is… the signing of the contract, the reformation of the plan, the several meetings that would follow and the distribution of the parts, since it is a joint project.", Ms Gigi responded professionally.

"Great! I think Crystal should be able to handle that much herself"

"You're not helping her anymore?", Ms Gigi asked in surprise.

'Was that even possible?', and thought.

"I see no reason to, right now I owe her way too many favors. And what better way to repay them than to let her brilliance shine through that important project", Ean chuckled before responding to Ms Gigi.

Ms Gigi stared at Ean's back and had a feeling her young miss would do otherwise. Because she knew something her young miss did not know, and that was the kind of person Crystal was, dangerous.

She was dangerous and unpredictable, and for many reasons, her presence around Ean did not sit well with her.

Mason watched from afar as she entered the car, which ignited soon after then zoomed off.

He clenched his fists while feeling useless, this was the third time he was in a situation to help her but didn't. He

'So she was right… maybe I should ask Diamond to get me a new phone…', Ean contemplated on asking Diamond for help, but she could not make a decision because her thoughts were interrupted by Ms Gigi.

"Young Miss, that boy from earlier… is he a friend?", Ms Gigi finally asked the question that had been on her mind, since she first spotted them together. She did not doubt what she saw, she just wanted to keep her imagination from running wild.

"Not really… but he's an acquaintance of the sort.", Ean replied after some careful thinking.

Mason watched from afar as she entered the car, which ignited soon after then zoomed off.

He clenched his fists while feeling useless, this was the third time he was in a situation to help her but didn't. He also felt angry about his carelessness towards her. He didn't know how it affected her, yes, but it was still his fault.

Mason was just like any other teenager, young and reckless, but he had a strong sense of righteousness and great empathy towards people.

He stood still, lost in his thoughts while staring at the reversing vehicle.

As the car drove off he suddenly had an idea.

Why was he just staring?!

He ran after it, brought out his phone then took a video of the departing vehicle. He almost stumbled but caught himself and tried to get a proper footage.

He stopped after a while and viewed the video, it was blurry because he had been running, but after he stopped and zoomed in, he managed to capture the plate number.

It was a string of numbers. Finding out who the owner of the car is would be difficult from this alone, but he had a special channel which he could use.

Mason stood under the strong glow of the afternoon sun, and lowered his gaze in thought.

He seemed like a young teenager who had been rejected by his crush from afar, but up close, the determination one could feel from him was alarmingly strong.
